Mark Buehrle appreciation thread?
Jordan4life_2007 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) He'll be re-signed. I'm not buying into this being his last game at all. I just hope it's no more than two years. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 07:21 AM) For what they are paying for that offense, he should be getting grief. Funny thing is, other than Crawford, they're not paying that much this year. Not for the guys that matter, anyway. That changes next year with Gonzo, obviously.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 06:24 AM) Magadan is getting grief and the Red Sox lead the world in runs, slugging, OPS, and second in batting average? Yeah, he sucks. Did you read the post? He said getting grief for Crawford. You know, the guy who just signed a $142 million dollar contract?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) In the last week, yes. Boston has been doing just about everything to hand it to them, and they can't take it. I see it as a case of them running out of steam. No team in history (to my knowledge) has ever overcome a 9-game deficit in September and made the playoffs. I just can't look at a team with a $40 millionish dollar payroll in that division and think anything negative.

a "successful season" in the major leagues
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Playoffs are fine as is, IMO. Don't touch them. I'm all for realignment. Making the playoffs in baseball is an 'accomplishment.' As where making it in other sports is more like, 'Well, somebody had to occupy these spots.' -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) The Rays are choking worse than Boston could ever have dreamed (nightmare-d?). Sucks that it looks like they're going to come up short. But can you really deem them "chokers?" Weren't they like 9 GB a few weeks ago? They lost Crawford, Pena, Garza and the bulk of their '10 bullpen - and the fact that we're even talking about them and the playoffs in the same sentence at this juncture is astounding. And Longoria missed about 30 games or so earlier in the season. They are officially the model for how to field a competitive team without a mega payroll. Their run is much more impressive than the A's steroid-induced one of the early 2000's.

Hahaha. I love chaos and confusion.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 01:25 AM) I wish Mark wasn't a free agent, and we could have just shut him down a week or two ago, as it would've been in the best interests of all. How so? -
Oh my goodness. How many more fluff pieces do we need of PK telling the world what a messiah-like hitting coach Walker is? Paul, I love you. But STFU!
-
lmao@that pathetic list of potential managerial candidates. Why not hire John Kruk or Mitch Williams?

Chicago White Sox @ Cleveland Indians, GAME 1.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) No need to change anything. Of course. It's all on the players. I can't wait until they change the coaching staff and the exact same thing happens next year. Then KW, Ozzie, Walker will be vindicated! -
The best player in baseball?

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) Pujols or Verlander. You would actually take a pitcher over Tulo? -

Jordan4life_2007 replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in The Diamond Club
Hurry up, Kalapse. You're taking forever. I know you're going to say Pujols. Again, this is going forward. I don't care about Pujols' MVPs. As of right now - Tulo > Pujols. -
At this moment? Forget about the past and all that. I'm talkin' right now. For me, that man is Troy Tulowitzki. He plays the most precious position on the diamond (aside from catcher) and provides 1B offensive production and Bible Award caliber defense at said position. He's a good base-runner and even throws in a vulture steal every now and then. He's the best player in the game of baseball.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Love it. I'm no where near sold on him yet but I'm cautiously optimistic going forward. I'm tired of you. You're too negative for me. Go away. -
QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Don't forget A-Gone, I don't know when Pedoria and Youklis need new deals.. and Elsbury is going to start getting pricey. When I referenced Lackey and Crawford, I did so because both signings looks down-right ridiculous at the moment and could hamper the club for years. I can't imagine they'd be up for dabbling in a high-risk guy like Darvish.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) I'm done think the Red Sox are well run. Imagine if we were Red Sox fans...Lackey, Bobby, Drew, Cameron, Crawford, etc. Red Sox don't get/resign Adrian if they have a normal payroll. God, imagine if we had those five deals all at the same time like they did at the beginning of this year. We'd have killed someone. Gotta disagree with you here, Q. The Mets, Cubs and Dodgers have spent plenty over the years with nothing to show for it. The Red Sox have been the best-run organization in baseball for nearly a decade. There's a lot more that goes into that than having deep pockets.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Mike Stanton with two cheap homers tonight Still wouldn't trade Ozzie for him.

Pretty much the best (and only) good thing goin' for the team right now. Very encouraged at his strong finish. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Everytime I have watched a Pence AB the past two weeks, I dont think I have seen him make an out. Can't stress enough how happy I am he's out of Houston. What he's doing now shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that's consistently watched him play (have seen plenty of him over the years whenever Houston played the Cubs).

Not sure about the Yankees. But NO WAY in hell Boston will be in on this. Forget about DM. After Lackey and now Crawford, I think they're mega-spending ways are on hold for now.
