  1. I'm virgin on prom night excited. This was at least a couple years in the making. Ozzie's mistake (one of many) is that he thought he was bigger than the organization because he managed the club to a title. Sorry, Ozzie. You don't go on for infinity because of past White Sox futility. You're not Pholus all of a sudden. You don't get to create mayhem AND underachieve because of something you did six years ago. Even Kenny (who I want gone) never rested on his '05 laurels. That's partly why we're in the situation we're in. He's so obsessed with duplicating '05 (see 2K5's sig) that he's recklessly punted the future year after year. This is just the first step. A GIANT first step, indeed.
  2. Lol@Ozzie deserving a statue. Is there a Phil Jackson statue at the UC? Is there a Mike Ditka statue at SF? GMAB.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) Sounds like a 4 year extension for Cooper per the Score. Lol. That sound you hear is Dick Allen aimlessly shooting a rifle. When does Walker get his extension?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 07:57 AM) Like with Team Ozzie - Dick Allen has been silenced.
  5. Damn, I was bed-ridden all day yesterday. Had no idea this joyous occasion had occurred. Only thing that sucks is the bum wasn't fired. That makes me question whether legitimate change is about to commence or was this simply a case of an uneducated buffoon letting Jerry and Co. off the hook. Anyway, the loser is gone and it's time for a celebratory shot or six.
  6. Oh my goodnezz. this reminds me of the time when my buddy quinarye jack-knifed vixtory mc88 in the buttocks and let him live aferwards. and i like greg. i really do. greg knows this. but we harnor no particular feelings when it coes to ozzie. hje know this. i hate ozzie like i hate republicans and then how i hate people are famous for being famous. i can't tand it and i will put an end to it vrry soon.
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:03 AM) I just want a manager I can buy a beer for, so no matter what our record is we can still drink. this, my friend, is definitely a solution i deem fit. this reminds me of the time in forth grade when officer friendly came in and told not to do drugs becuz mcgruff the crime dog said it was bad for us. some dumb s*** like that.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) Francona would be good if he gets canned. He's colorful like Ozzie. Not a dull mum company man like Ned Yost n most of 'em. f*** that. If he walks into a restaurant that i'm frequenting and I don't smile, i deem him unfit. i better f***in' smile for the future next white sox manager.
  9. Oh my goodness. Danielle Harris in Hatchet 2 is killin' this f***ing movie. Throw in Brandy and hot wings? I feel like I'm in this gentlemans palyhouse:
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) Just sad to see what Jose Bautista has done (even with the "team concept" as his team is actually above .500 in the toughest division in baseball) and it might all go for not. True. But that was pretty f***ing clutch. Probably saved their season.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) He's professional, smart, proven, and classy. I'd love to have him. To see how many people gripe about LaRussa or even Francona, it just boggles my mind. Especially when you have the crap the Sox have ran out. I haven't watched a game in a month and don't miss baseball at all. I hate this team and hate this organization right now. They are classless in the way they act and this is the most unlikeable team I've ever been a fan of. And to hear that the organizatoin might have zero major changes, it blows my mind. This caps it off. The point of no return. The Siamese homers (2k5 and Balta) have seen the light. Now prince homer (jason) has had his epiphany. My name is J4L, and like Hitler, I will offer up my Final Solution: FIRE EVERYONE!!!!!!
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) Yankees an early 3-0 lead on Boston in game 2. Would you and ALL Sox fans please go to SOSH. This is funny as s*** the stuff they're saying. I don't even care about the Bears game anymore.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) Contreras was given a rather lucrative extension. He also struggled when he came over and struggled a bit at the beginning of 2005 enough that a lot of Soxtalk wanted him traded for AJ Burnett which would have been a disaster. Then blame KW for that. Not Cooper. Cooper did his part. Just like with Thornton. Thornton to many now is overpaid. But that's based off of the pure domination that he was from '06 through last year. You keep referencing Gavin Floyd and his god-awful 4.50 ERA or whatever it is. What have the Phillies gotten from Freddy Garcia since the trade? What did Floyd provide for a more than reasonable cost from '08 through '10? Again, projects aren't the same. It's like going to Little Ceasers and expecting the same quality as you would from a much more mainstream establishment like Giordanos or even Pizza Hut.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) I was Contreras' biggest backer on this board. You don't have to give me a history lesson, but if its all Cooper, what about all the other games Contreras pitched for the White Sox? Why weren't the magical musings of Don Cooper working then? Again, the standard for reclamation projects vs big money FA signings or first-round draft picks are not the same. They're not meant to last. This is what me and Shack got into. Shack claimed that "they're are more ways to skin a cat" then to scout, draft and develop. And he's right. My beef is that if that's your only means of surviving, you're in trouble. Because that's a dangerous game to play long-term. That should be a supplemental way of staying afloat. Not the only way. This organization's biggest failure without question is the blatant inability to produce from within.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) You said he started 3 series so there is no way anything Greg Walker has done that could top that. His prized project was a bigger reason for the title and you know it. lol. I don't think so. Konerko > Jose? You're huffin' paint. You NEVER would be spewing this nonsense 3-4 years ago. You're so desperate to justify Walker as a legitimate hitting coach that you'll resort to anything. "Jose lost the lone postseason game in '05." If that's not desperation then I don't know what is.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Because Jose Contreras snapped off one of the best 25-30 game runs anyone has seen. Exactly. And the fact he never did much of anything of note after the break of '06 is of no consequence to me. If you told me in early 2004 that Jose Contreras was going to spearhead one of the most dominant pitching staffs of the last quarter century to a WS title, I'd be kinda cool with that.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) I might have to officially throw in the towel now The sad thing is I'm not even sure if you're serious or not.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) Actually if you are the boss, you would have the choice of keeping all four, or three, or two, or one, or none! And if you are the boss, and you're deciding which coaches are being hired or fired, why even hire a GM or manager? Um, what?
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) Clearly it was Brandon McCarthy and Joe Crede who led us to the 2005 post-season, not Contreras. I was thinkin' Damaso Marte. Funny thing is, DA, along with Shack, were probably the two biggest Jose supporters on the board while he was here. Now DA is doing everything in his power to discredit Contreras (to make Cooper look worse) and in turn build up the resume of his fake god Walker. I've never encountered a fan that wanted to be a martyr for a hitting coach.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) OK, we will forget the pair of first inning 3 run homers Konerko hit in the ALCS, to get the Sox going and his GS in game 2 of the WS. BTW,Contreras was the only losing pitcher for the Sox in the 2005 postseason. DA, that's some borderline elrockin' s*** right there. I'm disappointed in you.
  21. It's really this simple: Kenny Williams Ozzie Guillen Don Cooper Greg Walker You're the boss. You call the shots. You make the decision that you're canning three of the four. Which one do you keep? If it takes you more than a tenth of a second to answer that question, you're delusional or you're a family member or close personal friend of the three obvious guys that deserve pink slips.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) Loaiza fell completely apart in 2004, conveniently at the same time that public testing started though. Reclamation projects aren't supposed to last forever. You bring them in, see if they're fixable, ride them for as long as you can, move on. Sure, Loaiza fell off in '04. But that was one year after he was the AL starting pitcher for the all-star game. And the Yankees knew that. They probably thought they could turn him around based on that. And without Loaiza, obviously, there's no Jose Contreras. So one could argue that without Loaiza's '03, there's no '05 World Series banner hanging at the Cell.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) Note that you excluded his 2003 pre-walker slump. And you can't mention '03 without mentioning the injury. Healthy PK produces. Even if you want to give Walker some credit, it's nowhere near the level of credit Cooper deserves for turning Loaiza, Contreras, Thornton and Floyd around.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Well, maybe taking Konerko from a guy struggling to get over injury to one of the most reliable bats in the league is pretty close... Konerko was no scrub from '99 through '02 (no Walker) - .294/.356/.499/.855 OPS during that stretch. It's not even close.
