  1. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) Will this new culture involve spending some money on the god-damn draft? Not absolutely sucking scouting wise would be nice, too. I realize money is a big part. But wow. You would think you'd hit on one first-round pick by accident over the course of a decade (the jury is still out on Sale).
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) Tampa/Milwaukee World Series. Gimme. Tampa/Arizona is my preference. Though yours will suffice. Just no Yankees/Phillies.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) BS. Put Ozzie on Comedy Central, it would get raves. And I could color my hair, wear makeup, get a billion tattoos, and put on a dress and I'd be Dennis Rodman. But see, I can't play basketball like Dennis Rodman. Ozzie's act suffices when he's winning. Which he hasn't done for 6 years now. Nobody gives a s*** about his act otherwise.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) You know who was a great interview... Ozzie Guillen. He really wasn't. I could get in front of the camera and spew broken english, make fun of gays, encourage school shooters to simply kill themselves, call the fans idiots, etc. Ozzie is a f***ing moron and he'll simply fade into the abyss now that he doesn't have the stage that the Chicago media provided for him.
  5. lol@this thread. All I know is that a terrible manager no longer heads my favorite baseball team. For that, I'm happy.
  6. They give out GG awards in the minors? The more you know...... And knowing is half the battle!
  7. Isn't Dallas like a couple years younger than Tex?
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) I can't wait for this response... Greg is out surveying random people in KC about the state of the White Sox.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) If Adam Dunn hit 40 to 50 home runs and Rios hit .320 with 110 RBIs and Peavy won 18 games, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Ozzie would be a great manager. That simple, heh? Then Ozzie is still irrelevant. So him not being here anymore (thank god) should mean nothing.
  10. Totally forgot about Hellickson. You can go either way. Hosmer really went wacko this last month. But Hellickson has been pretty consistent all year.
  11. Let's see: AL MVP: Bautista AL CY: Verlander AL ROY: Hosmer AL MOY: Maddon AL Exec: Friedman NL MVP: Kemp NL CY: Kershaw NL ROY: Kimbrel NL MOY: Gibson NL Exec: Melvin
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Strasburg is dealing today. And, of course, he gets pulled after a whopping 79 pitches. We'll see a lot of this next year.
  13. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) So, just prospects for both Danks & Quentin? You expect major leaguers back?
  14. QUOTE (Wedge @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:36 PM) If history is an indicator, expect to be disappointed by KW. Yup. Not every GM is as short-sighted as KW. It'd be shocking for any team to give up a guy comparable to Daniel Hudson for a year of John Danks.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Can't keep Ramirez and Santos in a rebuild. Yes, nothing say rebuild like trading away the few proven cost-controlled pieces you have for, um, unproven cost-controlled pieces.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) This guy never disappoints. People complained that the constant negativity drove "good" posters away, but look what the incessant crap from guys like greg is doing. It's driving legitimately good posters like qwerty away to the point that we hardly see him post anymore. Greg reminds me of that little f***er Gizmo from Gremlins. Somebody got him wet and it's spawned new gregs and chaos. One greg I can deal with (and let me reiterate that I like greg). But 5-10 gregs is too much.
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Oh boy, it's gonna be bad for a while... Possibly. But this was inevitable. It's bittersweet that KW is JUST NOW recognizing the fundamental flaws in his methods of operation. But again, this was coming. I can find some sanctuary in the fact we're not in a division that harbors the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays or Rangers. Those are clearly the four powerhouses in the AL, IMO. I'm not sold on Detroit as a long-term fixture in the division (though they're the clear favorites going into next year). The Twins look awful right now. The Royals have to find some pitching before they can ever be taken seriously. Cleveland might actually be the wildcard. Then again, they're nothing close to elite.
