  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:34 PM) Nice play by Andrus. It's gonna be funny when Jeter wins the GG again.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) You're good with questions like this...where would you rank us talent wise in the AL? I'd rank us ahead of KC, Seattle, Cleveland and Oakland based on major league talent. If we're talking farm systems, we're a DISTANT 5th outta those same teams.
  3. I've tried to be as positive as I can possibly be. But the fact we don't have at least 5 runs against Rich Harden and his batting practice FB and no control is beyond shameful.
  4. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) There is no offensive talent anywhere in this organization. My GOD is this team bad. There's talent. It's just sucking on a fat dick. I will say that it's kinda sad that it seems like the rest of the league is kinda passing us by while we're stuck in quicksand.
  5. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 01:39 AM) Frank Thomas He certainly would be no worse than half our offensive roster.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 01:32 AM) At least promote him. I agree. He's not nearly as Raw as Chapman and that guy is in AAA. Stras should be in AAA. Forget AAA. He should've been in the majors from day 1. He's that good. Look around the NL. Mike Pelfrey, Livan Hernandez, Carlos Silva, Brad Penny. It's ridiculous. I'd say a minimum performance expectation from him would be that of what Lincecum did his rookie year.
  7. Strasburg continues to dazzle. 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K. Even had an RBI single (the only run of the game). They really need to do something about this service time crap. This guy has no business in AA.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Isn't there some type of ignore feature available to ease up the great burden I am causing you? If I really cause you that much duress, I'm sure you could work out something with the mods where all my posts would be blacked out like I'm giving away a key plot point to a new blockbuster movie in the FILMS THREAD. Sound cool to you? That would be better than sniping back and forth with you about how I post in 25% of the threads. I was half joking. But your posts are REALLY LONG. But I'll keep quiet about it from now on. It's really not that big a deal.
  9. And that's a season. Made the playoffs. Got the "experience." Now that, that's outta the way, this off-season will determine the fate of this franchise for the next 5 years, at least.
  10. Do prospects we traded away count? I'd love to have Chris Young or Gio Gonzalez back.
  11. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) We sucked this weekend. Seattle just sucked a lot more. And they are about to get swept by the Royals while scoring ZERO runs Wait, what? First of all Seattle won last night. Second, the two teams play each other tomorrow. You just assumed a sweep before the second (a game in which the Mariners were down only 2-0) of a 3-game series was over? lol. The Sox are bad enough without you trying to create or invent ways to make them worse. Man what the hell has happened to you? Personal problems?
  12. Ubaldo Jimenez says f*** Lincecum and Halladay. Looks like he wants a piece of that CY.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) Liriano vs Verlander tonight. Should be a good one. Can't deny it any longer. Liriano is back. And our playoff chances, even in late April, take a hit.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Phegley diagnosed with I-T-P syndrome Says he will miss another month. Terrible situation for him. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) I know someone who had this. If this is the diagnosis, wow... a month might be extremely optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends his season. The "curse" of the '09 draft? First Mitchell and now Phegley.
  15. Brett Anderson, Jorge de la rosa and Nelson Cruz all to the DL.
  16. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) You have good thoughts, but can we keep these exercises a little more concise, Caufield? I feel like I have to take notes and do homework. I can rarely get through a Caulfield post without saying "f*** it. I don't feel like reading anymore."
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 02:09 AM) I did love Joe Crede as well. What's wrong with Joe Crede pre-back injury? Nothing. Point is that if it were up to you Crede would still be here despite the chronic back problems. Along with Pods, JD, Garland and probably every other member from the 2005 club.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 01:01 AM) The guy the White Sox absolutely hate and the one that Quentin absolutely destroyed back in 08 in that crazy game that Clayton Richard started, where Alexei made his glove flip. And I also forgot to mention Colby Lewis. That guy's probably their best pitcher right now. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 01:01 AM) Just did in post above. Don't trip. I had never heard of the dude until like two weeks ago.
  19. So why exactly did the Phillies not keep Lee? Certainly couldn't have been about money.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) Rangers lost today. Looks like they're giving up a decent amount of runs. But we're running into their two best pitchers so far in Harden and Wilson. No love for Colby Lewis? QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) Who is this Wilson fellow? RP turned SP. He's been very good so far.
  21. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 01:02 AM) I think your nuts, I do think Durant is awesome but I dont see him contending for the MIP award at all. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 01:17 AM) Yes he is nuts. Great poster though, my boy, though at times can look very bad in future threads. (don't get me started on the Beckham promotion to AAA thread. ) He does have a point though if you want to argue Durant went from a star to a superstar this year. Points and rebounds went up (more-so points) not to mention his + efficiency (in game, getting calls, PER, etc..) is off the charts (defense improved as well). Hes had an amazing year, but I still don't see how a guy who was well known for 3 years now, pretty much a top 5 player in the game (even with the small market, but quality nba people and fans know who he is) takes that award from Hill, Brooks, Noah, Bogut, Blatche, or Laundry. By his logic, I'd give it to Rajon Rondo personally. I know I'm late. But Durant did finish 2nd in the voting. So I'm not as "nuts" as you guys thought.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) J4L - I think that you're giving WT too much in that trade. Didn't want to give up Kershaw. But to get Longoria/Tulo, gotta pay up. I'm obviously banking on Tex doing his usual thing (sucking in April, raking the rest of the way). And I don't think Jeter will match his 2009 numbers, though he's off to a solid start.
  23. To be fair, Ryan has lost a good 25-30 pounds since 2008. His defense has improved. He's also running better. But yeah, the overall contract is ridiculous.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) If it makes you both feel any better, your both wrong. As far as pure for pure talent.. (and I mean talent/upside/potential/even youth) the Tigers are the best. That doesn't mean they will all realize it however just because they all can hit 98+ with sick breaking pitches. They're right there. But I'm looking at RIGHT NOW. Not potential. And not "IF" so and so is healthy when they haven't been for multiple years (Putz, Zumaya). That's why I think it's the Dodgers.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Broxton=Santos (projecting, it's a premature reach, but I'm being optimistic today) Sherrill=Putz (when JJ is healthy) Thornton is the best LHR in baseball now I'd take my chances with Liney and Pena over Belisario and Troncoso. Or you're just being silly? I like Santos a lot. But let's be realistic now. Putz hasn't been a productive pitcher since 2007. I agree that Thornton is the best LH set-up man in baseball. But Kuo is definitely no slouch. Linebrink would be gone yesterday if we could find a team to take his contract. Belisario > Pena. Pena > Troncoso. Either way, Broxton's dominance tips the scale in the Dodgers favor. Now, IF Bobby rebounds and IF Puts is healthy and IF Santos is the real deal, I'd then be inclined to agree with you.
