  1. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:24 AM) Even if its at the end of this month, 10 games at the start of May is no impossible feat.. Considering how bad we've been in the second half during the Ozzie ERA, I definitely don't want to go that route.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:13 AM) I'm not defending Kotsay .120 avg., or the decision to bat him 3rd, but it's funny to think about what we'd be saying if he was riding the pine out of the gate after hitting .382 in ST. People would be screaming for ozzie to play him with this offense tanking like it is. For some reason Kotsay seems like the focal point of all this frustration with the offense. This when our #3 hitter is like 0-20 right now and playing terrible defense in the field. There is no scenario on earth that would have me "screaming" for Mark Kotsay to be anything more than a backup 1B/PH. I've said this before and I'll say it once more: HE WAS TRADED FOR BRIAN ANDERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) 15 games played 6 games back The 2010 White Sox have been a special kind of awful so far, and ultimately look like they will continue 2009's mandate of being just good enough to be mediocre. It isn't too early to be up in arms about this kind of failure - this started last year. I agree. There's a big difference between taking a dump on the rest of the season and realizing that they can't dig themselves too big a hole. Forget about the wildcard. That's coming from the AL east. We HAVE to win the division. And the Twins are looking to make that extremely difficult. I said before the season if Liriano is really "back" that we were in deep s***.
  4. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) It really would be something if he continues to hit well and forces a callup to High-A this season. I know 1 thing for sure, Thompson/Mitchell would be fun to watch progress next season. God knows we need a serious influx of premium talent before, I don't know, 2015.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Rasmus showing some massive power so far this season. Pujols goes 0/5 and they still put up a 9 spot. The Cardinals are good.
  6. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) Well there is no way we are going to hit in the .220's for the entire season, its just not gonna happen.. And I don't think the starting pitching is going to be a problem, there's still time that's the beauty of the baseball season.. I agree. But I don't want to see us 10 games out when they decide to start hitting. That's what I'm worried about.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) It makes me wonder if there is something to do with the city. The other Chicago team pretty much displays the same hitting or lack of habits. I guess that really good hitting coach from Texas hasn't made an impact. The better teams seem to have a good #3 and 4 hitter. This is what the Sox are definitely lacking, like really, really good guys that are All Stars. There's no bat in the lineup that can carry a team or make the other hitters better. Quentin was that guy 2 years ago. They need a Pujols type player. Something to do with the city? I think I speak for everyone when I say WTF?
  8. I really wish some people would realize there is baseball outside of the White Sox. THEY ARE NOT the only team in baseball that struggles against pitchers they see for the first time.
  9. I'm still nowhere close to giving up on the season. But what we've seen to this point is extremely discouraging. I'm not so sure it's a case of just playing bad baseball. I look up and down the AL, and I struggle to find 3-4 teams that I can say without question have less talent than the Sox.
  10. CQ doesn't have a flippin' clue right now. He's fouling off a ton of good pitches and wiffing at pitches well out of the zone.
  11. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) Teahen L Jones R Rios R Konerko R Pierzynski L Quentin R Beckham R Pierre L Ramirez R Pierre is a 9th place batter in the AL... I agree 100%. But our manager is Ozzie Guillen. Pierre won't see the 9-hole at any point this season.
  12. JP will be fine. His BABIP is a ridiculously low .204. That's even more flukish considering he rarely Ks.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Bats are easier to find than bullpen help. How is that cub offense doing when not able to play in the wind tunnel Bullpen 'help' looks to be on the way in the name of Braden Looper. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=chc
  14. Strasburg with another impressive outing. 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K. Late may can't get here soon enough.
  15. There have been a few new improvements made to UZR. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/uzr-updates
  16. Danks' line after his first 3 starts last year: 2-0, 19 IP, 7 BB, 16 Ks, 0.95 ERA. Just wanted to temper the enthusiasm a little (I know. That's not really any fun).
  17. QUOTE (soreal35 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) I personally think it is foolish to worry about a guy who makes $500,000 getting injured....I think it is even more foolish that the Sox brought in a player making five hundo a year to carry an offense, but if he's hot ride him till he's cold. This is a pro sport and Andruw is a guy who is making peanuts...He wants to play well just as much as the Sox want him to play well. There really is no "losing" situation with a guy like this. It's not foolish when you're as thin on offensive talent as the White Sox. I hate to say it. But the Sox NEED Andruw Jones. It's not like whatever he gives you on the + side is a bonus. It's a necessity.
  18. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) 2-0 in 3 starts, 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 21.0 IP, 21 SO, 6 BB decent. He put up similar stats after 3 starts last year. And he simply owns TB. And if tonight doesn't prove Andruw Jones should be the primary DH against LH AND RH pitching, I don't know what to say.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) Jason Heyward is still amazing. That dude's got me speechless. I'm just glad he's in the NL.

Very impressive, shack. Isn't that feeling of accomplishment priceless? Keep it up.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Definitely. I get tired of reading the fire Ozzie threads. People seem more rational here. You obviously just started posting here.
  22. 11 years later and we're still spooked over Columbine. http://www.9news.com/rss/article.aspx?storyid=137212 http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/apr/20/20...ecurity-countr/
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 07:08 AM) D-Will = best point guard in the league He's right there. But for my money, give me Steve Nash. He's a marvel to watch.
  24. We're gonna need a good one from JD in this one. I've seen both of Price's starts so far, and he has been FILTHY.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) Well, the Mariners have won 5 straight now (almost had a no-hitter) and the Rays have won 8 in a row on the road dating back to 2009. YIKES is all you can say at this point. I don't know how many different ways you're going to say the same thing. We know how good both teams are playing. Who cares? We've lost 5/6 to the Indians. The Sox need to play better. It's that simple. Doesn't matter who they're playing.
