Man oh man if Kenny could land Nelson.

Thome shows familiar power
QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) I said he didn't fall apart. Remember Uribe's error in his first game? That didn't go real well. Got ya. I read your post wrong.

QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Yes. What do you mean by "fall apart?" He pitched two scoreless innings.

More roster cuts made
QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Nelson is a free agent and can sign anywhere. Quickman is on the phone with him as we speak. Alright then. I wasn't sure.

More roster cuts made
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Never pitched above A ball.... Well, he's done whats been asked of him so far. If he does struggle, I hardly think he will, as you say, lose his confidence forever.

Thome shows familiar power
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:04 PM) If he can give us 2 seasons like Marte gave us when he first hit Chicago...yeah, I could live with that. I'll even take Marte's '04 season from Thornton.

More roster cuts made
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) They need to cut Redding, Nomo, and Logan... LOGAN IS NOT READY!!! He's going to end up being Arnie Munoz'd and lose his confidence forever! And this opinion is based on?

Losing Rooney Crushing for Sox Fans
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) One listen to the radio pieces here and you'll realize how much Rooney will be missed. However, I can't believe how people are sounding off on Singleton already. This is the guy's first job in broadcasting; filling three hours is quite difficult for Hawk at times, it was difficult for Rooney, and it has to be even more difficult for a novice. I'll give Singleton to the All-Star break. It's only fair. I would have loved to hear what ya'll had to say about DJ when he first got in the booth. I was thinking about it, and you might have a point. I just figured when it comes to radio guys you're either good or you're not. I'll give Chris some time before I come to a final conclusion on him.

Is anybody just relieved that we've got some decent options going into the season? I was scared that none of the guys we brought in were gonna do jack.

Thome shows familiar power
QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Hawk and DJ were talking about the change in delivery. They just said he looked more fluid. He seemed to have a bit more explosiveness on his fastball. Plus, he didn't fall apart after the Iguchi error. That's a big sign for his confidence. You talkin' about today's outing?

Final Four
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Florida FG defense: 80-243 32.9 percent LSU FG defense: 84-248 33.9 percent Florida played South Alabama (14), UW-Milwaukee (11), Georgetown (7), and Villanova (1) LSU played Iona (13), Texas A&M (12), Duke (1), and Texas (2) Pretty much the same competition, except LSU's Texas (a 2) to Florida's Georgetown (a 7). But Texas shot 46.6 percent this year to Georgetown's 46.8 percent, basically a wash. Florida's frontcourt can match LSU, their defense can match LSU, and their guards are MUCH better on offense. I'll admit, I didn't know Florida's fg% defense was that low. However, I feel LSU has gone up against better teams. What guard does Florida have that's considerably better than Darrel Mitchell? I can't think of one.

Who's going to win it all?
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Well considering they lead by 2 with under a minute left vs. Duke and were tied through regulation with Texas, I don't see how it is manhandeling. Like I said, the actual score can be deceiving. Yeah, both games were close, but LSU physically dominated both teams. How often does Duke shoot 27.1% from the field? How often does Texas shoot 30.4% from the field? That's all LSU.

Who's going to win it all?
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) Not sure how you figure. LSU was 1 shot from losing to A&M, and had to go to OT last night. Even the Duke game was close until the final minute. Florida had trouble with G-Town (who was playing VERY well), but has otherwise pretty much breezed to the Final 4. Final scores can sometimes be deceiving. Yeah, they did struggle with A&M, but they flat manhandled Duke and Texas.

Cubs Spoof
LMAO! I'm adding article to my favorites.

DET's Justin Verlander and Joel Zumaya
They were ranked 1-2 among Detroit prospects by BA. Verlander is just flat sick. I know his fastball is usually around 94-96. I hear it touches 99 on occassion. He's got a plus curve and change that he consistently throws for strikes. He's got excellent control as well. Zumaya also has a filthy fastball. From what I've read, he regularly touches 100 mph. Like Verlander, he also has a very good curve/change. In short, both these guys are future studs.

Has it hit anybody yet?
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) And if you have CSN, from 6-7 PM, they'll be showing the raising of the flag, etc. Thanks, Greasy. I didn't know that. My VCR will be ready.

Who's going to win it all?
LSU. They easily have the best front-court and overall defense of any team left.

Final Four
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Horford and Noah can at least play close to them, and Florida's guards are vastly superior. For the record, Florida beat LSU by 9 at home and by 16 in the SEC Tournament already this year (although Tyrus Thomas didn't play in the SEC Tourney game, so that means little). LSUs fg% defense in the tourney is something like 33.4%. That's mind-boggling. I just can't see anybody beating them.

A's trade Juan Cruz to D-backs for Brad Halsey
Good trade for both teams. Oakland was not gonna make a deal with us.

Final Four
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Who do you guys like now that we know who's in the Final 4? Of course George Mason can't be counted out, but IMO Florida is the clear favorite right now. They have the dominant inside player(s), the solid point guard, and the balance. LSU all the way. I think their front-court will be too much for any team to handle.

Final Four
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) 1980. First time since the tourney expanded to 64 teams (and now 65) that a mid major is in the Final 4, and the first time zero #1 seeds are there. Thanks. I think it's safe to say that college hoops has reached its peak for parity.

How's your bracket?
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) This guy has a Final Four of LSU, UCLA, GMU and Florida. He might be the only guy on all of Yahoo that picked it. That man deserves a prize.
