Yeah, I almost don't want to watch the games. Too much stress. This team has looked pretty flat for over a week now. If Detroit had played even marginally better baseball, they'd be in first by 2 or 3 games. One of these teams will need to step it up starting today. The Sox need to win convincingly tonight and then continue the momentum into the Rays series.

Hawk may be an extreme example of a homer, and he does get to be annoying at times, but I wouldn't want to listen to a boring, called down the middle broadcast. Hawk will acknowledge good plays by other teams, and he often talks about the players he likes from other teams (Fielder, Cabrera, etc.). Stone is much less a homer. He often stays quiet during Hawk's rants, and he doesn't jump on board with Hawk's homerun calls. I thnk they are a decent balance, although Hawk definitely dominates, especially when things are going bad or very good.

Win early and root for the pesky Royals. Never thought we'd be rooting for a team that has been a huge pain in the ass for us all season. Now it's time for them to be a pain in the ass for the Tigers.

I sell a lot of stuff on eBay, but I also buy my fair share. I do my best to ship items quickly, and I've never had bad feedback. But I know what you're saying about some buyers. A few years back, some woman sent me a message about an item I was selling saying that she thought the shipping was too high (I think it was $2.49 for a CD). I responded that if she thought the shipping was too high, don't bid on it. I've had several buyers message me saying they accidentally bid on something and won the auction. For the most part, I try to be nice and refund their money, but I doubt they know (or care) that it's a pain. My favorite buyer was someone who bought a season of ER on DVD. The DVDs were Region 2 (Europe), and I stated three times on the auction that the DVDs would not play in a Region 1 player. I get a message from the buyer stating that the item was not as described because it was Region 2. I pointed out that the auction description stated it three times, but I did refund their money. People suck.

I didn't jump up or yell when Dunn hit that second homer. I was literally stunned, and I just sat there saying "I don't believe what I just saw." I loved the crowd's reaction. Even watching it on TV, it had a playoff feel to it. I wonder what was going through Dunn's head as he hit that bomb. Relief? He did his slow walk from the batters box as he gently dropped the bat, but he must have had great emotions running through him.

The magic number is 10. A possible, conservative scenario for this week: Sox win 2 of 3 against Cleveland. Magic number is 8. Detroit loses one game to KC. Magic number is 7. Sox split with Tampa. Magic number is 5. Detroit loses one game to the Twins. Magic number is 4. That makes the last series at Cleveland very important. But a sweep of Cleveland starting tonight, and winning 3 of 4 against Tampa makes it look a lot better. The Sox are in control of their own fate right now. Win as many as or more games than the Tigers between now and the end of the season and the division is won.

Neither team is playing like they want the division. It all comes down to this week. The Sox need to take care of business against Cleveland and hold their own against Tampa. The Sox cannot worry about what the Tigers do, but every loss by the Tigers reduces that magic number. It's up to us as the fans to scoreboard watch. Hopefully the bats wake up for the Sox. They looked dead in LA.

The Sox have to merely win as many games as the Tigers win. I feel better with the Sox being home for two series, but the Rays series worries me a bit. However, I foresee a sweep of Cleveland, a split with Tampa, and 2 out of 3 in Cleveland. That would be 7-3. Detroit will go 6-4. Sox win the division. My bigger concern is the playoffs (provided they get there). They have to start playing better baseball away from home. The series in LA was brutal. The Sox looked like they were asleep. Well, we can worry about that when the playoffs start, right? Hawk was right when he kept saying that this week was going to be the biggest week of baseball this season.

I'd like to see Jake back, but not for the $22 million option. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sox offer something along the lines of 2/$22M or 3/$30M. He might get more than that somewhere else, though.

The way the Sox play Detroit, it really is a miracle they're in first place. Detroit has trouble with other teams, and that is what has kept the Sox in it. You'd think a loss today would really hurt. And it might, but with the way Detroit's been playing who knows. I think the season is coming down to the last few days.

Fans can cheer for the players, and they have a right to criticize them. The Sox deserve criticism when they have the bases loaded and don't score a run. And they deserve criticism when they crap down their legs everytime they play the team that they absolutely have to beat. And as far as whether or not hitting is easy, no it's not. When the BEST hitters succeed about 33% of the time, that should tell you how easy it is. However, what we're most pissed about here is the fact that these guys (getting paid millions of dollars) cannot hit the damn baseball when they need to the most!

Revolution starts tonight. I'm going to give it a shot. The previews sort of make it look cheesy...hopefully that's not the case.

I fear that a loss will pretty much be the end of the season. The Tigers will have all the momentum. But, I thought the same thing when the Sox were swept in Detroit. Maybe Detroit can only beat the Sox. But, none of this will matter because Sale will be lights out and the offense will score some runs. Sox win tonight. Back to a two game lead. Take care of business down the stretch.

A win tonight is huge for the Sox. Big difference between 2 games up and being tied. Especially considering the momentum the Tigers will have. No matter what happens tonight and through the rest of the season, it will be remembered that the Sox couldn't beat the teams they needed to beat when they really needed to. Had they beat the Royals over the weekend like they should have, things would have looked different going into this series. If this team makes the playoffs, they had better make some adjustments. They look like absolute crap right now.
