  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) No it doesn't. Each night is an individual event which has no impact from the past, and no bearing on the future.... that is according to the law of averages. *rolls eyes* Sarcasm alert.
  2. Law of averages says the Sox win tonight.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) Ozzie is a former player who played in the era of big contracts. He's cocky. Some people can't deal with that. Unfortunately his cockiness gets in the way of managing a game properly...or talking his GM into which players to acquire or not acquire.
  4. QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) back to back homers followed by a double by Morel! Love the new user name.
  5. Paulie is a bad ass mother f***er!
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) I think Kenny deserves his share of the blame for our flop. Getting Peavy has not helped the team in the least and getting Jackson did not impact the race a bit either. The Manny move was a complete joke. Just make Viciedo the DH and he'd have had as good an impact as Mr. Singles/No Ribbies. Well, Peavy getting hurt hurt his chances of helping the team. Unfortunately he was hitting his stride when he went down. I view the Jackson deal as a piece for 2011, although I still don't like the money aspect. And the Manny move was a flop. I know what he was trying to do, and we were only 4 games out at that time. But, hindslight being what it is, Viciedo would have been a better option for a month.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Who do you want in right? Teahen. Laughable. Oh I forgot, I guess you want Jones out there. Jones has hit a few bombs this year. Hope he's not back next year, though. Well, Jones would be a better choice. But I think he was just stating that aside from Quentin, it would be the best D possible.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) I'm going on Saturday night, and I'm treating it like the World Series. This was a fun team to watch for most of the summer, and they earned my respect. The Twins are just too damn good this year. They are very good, as they usually are. Couple that with their run as of late, well, the Sox had no chance. It has been a fun ride though.
  9. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) They should have a rule about the amount of visits you can have as a catcher just like they do for a manager. He is terrible. You know it's bad when Steve Stone makes sarcastic comments about it.
  10. So far two great episodes of Terriers. Looks like another winner for FX.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 07:26 AM) No, the lesson being you can't neglect a huge part of your team, the DH is a position, for 130 games under the assumption you will just pick up somebody and they will come in and mash. $4 million is way too much for Manny. He's a shell of his former self. I would also bet that the reality is KW isn't a big fan of having to bend the rules based on how many homers you have hit in your career. BTW, Manny hasn't been an elite hitter since he came back from his suspension. Maybe its just coincidence, but his slugging pct and batting average are identical for the White Sox, he's here for a month, and halfway through is still looking for an RBI. Kotsay has hit .333 his last 20 games, so the reality is Manny wasn't even an upgrade. Unfortunately you are 100% correct. I know the argument of the rotating DH situation has been season long, but I can't see how anyone would not agree that it at least had a hand in this team's overall disappointing performance. Granted the first two months may have set the tone for the season, and everything but the bullpen was bad. I just hope the team goes into 2011 with a DH, not an idea of 3, 4, or 5 guys who could be a DH once in a while.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 07:13 AM) Disclaimer: sin city sox fan is probably the most sarcastic person to ever visit this site. I thought you were the most sarcastic person.
  13. QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) You should go to Fiji. *checks bank account* Maybe...
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:39 AM) He's also good at being a good guy, which is admirable and fine. Just get him off our team. Maybe in the winter somebody will bite on him for a bag of chips. It's his contract that will make him hard to move. I can't see many teams wanting to take on that money and give up anything for him.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 12:54 AM) 12 to go? I was under the impression we had like 18 to go....? Yeah, I had to break out a schedule to make sure. It'll be 16 after today's game. But, 7 or 9 back with 12 or 16 games is daunting either way.
  16. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) It's because no on cares about the Twins. Seriously. You mean nobody in Detroit? Because a lot of people in Chicago care about the Twins.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) I'm not sure if it's possible to be a bigger douche nozzle. I was going to say something along the same lines.
  18. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) no. I look forward to their early playoff exit. As do I.
  19. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) Because people think this is the worst season ever and it's all Ozzie and Kotsay's fault. Not the worst season ever, but one of the most disappointing and frustrating...in recent years anyway.
  20. My daughter is watching Animal Planet and there's a guy getting eaten by driver ants. Somehow watching that is a lot like watching this team lately.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) I would disagree. Why the f*** would we fire Ozzie over this?
  22. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) sweet alcohol is calling you. . . *glances nervously at the fridge*
