  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) I think he didn't mean that as serious as you seem to think he did. However, he's a typical Obama supporter in his endless politicizing of everything, I will say that. Other than the fact I do like McCain, the biggest reason I want to see Obama lose is to see how his supporters would take it. They'd be so depressed, it would be comedic gold. lol cuz GOP don't politicize everything... point is, this was a lighthearted thread about bush doing silly things. and holding up a flag backwards is a silly thing for a president to do. i think it's hilarious. and alpha. chilllll out. you really haven't come to grips with the fact that our president rides the short bus?
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) I went nuts, his swim was one in a million. Unbelieveable. actually i did too, jumping up and down. my bro was like 'since when do you care about swimming?' and i was like i dont know but that was the greatest thing EVER! i was so swept up in it.
  3. haha so jokingly i said to my friend "i wonder if i could friend the gymnasts cuz i bet they're on facebook" (conversation came after mentioning that alicia sacramone was hot). went to facebook stalker-style and searched her and my friend dared me to friend her. so i did. it's still pending but i'll let you all know the outcome. and it's ok cuz i'm only a year older than her, for the record.
  4. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) There are hundreds, maybe thousands of events that directly led to Obama being the nominee and front runner for President. The Edwards angle is interesting, and it seems like a decent analysis. But I usually ignore all the factors except those that a campaign had/had direct control over. Bottom line, Obama has the best organization and has run the best campaign. He has rolled with some serious punches, both real and political smoke. I am certain some members of the GOP will do their best to taint Obama with this, (Rumors of Edwards being considered for a cabinet position, etc) Edwards failed as a husband, father, and decent human being. He failed on the biggest stage possible. He obviously had little regard for his wife's feelings. And since he had no regard now the public will have no regard. Despite her pleas for privacy, this will continue to be on the front page for a week or two more. She will be stressed twice. I feel almost as ashamed as John should. So I will post my last post and make my infinitesimally small contribution to her request to stop the chatter. I don't think you can say someone failed as a decent human being because of one action. one mistake. i've made my share. i've made some big ones. for example, i cheated on a girlfriend once. it's not something i'm proud of and in fact i truly regret ever having done it. but i dont think - and maybe i'm wrong - but i don't think that ONE mistake means i'm not a decent human being. but i do appreciate the last part of your post. it's an excellent point. and i'm going to join you in that. after all, you all pretty much know how i feel about it. what more needs to be said.
  5. QUOTE (juddling @ Aug 11, 2008 -> 01:33 AM) Remember when the Democrats went apes*** over Larry Craig? It wasn’t the fact that he may have asked for gay sex or was gay, it was the hypocrisy, remember? Now think back to ALL THE F--KING LECTURES from Elizabeth and John Edwards about morality, family, trust, etc. John Edwards dragged his cancer stricken wife out in front of the media and talked about how he was a good man standing behind her in her time of need. Well....turns out he was screwing someone on the side at that time. Sorry if you don't feel that it is newsworthy but some people think it is. This story was broke by a tabloid then picked up by a few right-wing blogs then Fox News got involved. Only after that did the MSM pick it up. Honestly....i'm sure in about 3 or 4 months a Republican will f--k up in one way or another and it will be "A-ha" politics all over again. It turns from "what the Rep/Dems can do for you " into "See..we aren't as bad as the other guys" It sucks all around if you read my post i was ripping on the media, not the GOP. and he didn't drag out his wife. that's ridiculous. and, to play devil's advocate, who would know more about the importance of morality than a family that just saw, coped with, and got over an act of immorality at its worst?
  6. damnit. i wanted a QS for floyd...
  7. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 10, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) I've seen enough of AJ for a while. i think aj's fine.
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) It's more like it's something that's personally affected my life and it will always hurt my respect level for said person. Always. legit.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) I was kind of surprised on CNN last night when I saw Paul Begala just tear into Edwards. Fully deserved, as well. I just feel that cheating on a loved one is just so morally reprehensible. Yes, I know it may not affect how effective of a leader you may be, but it does make you a liar. I lost all my respect for the guy. right and what are the stats that like 70% of men and 50% of women have cheated? nice high horse. but ok... i'm still trying to wrap my mind around it all. there's the part of my that is ashamed, the part of me that says if Elizabeth has forgiven him we should too, the part of me that says that it doesn't change his politics and the part of me that says why the hell, when there's an invasion going on, are we worried about a private citizen's love life and making it front page news? what has the media turned into? it's truly just pathetic and dispicable. The Edwards' had dealt with this privately and they deserved for it to REMAIN PRIVATE. Who gets off making them now have to go through this hell all over again and on an even worse scale. Imagine being one of his kids right now. Imagine being Elizabeth right now. Imagine how f***ing hard it must be to have this all over the front f***ing page when you're NOT EVEN RUNNING OR IN OFFICE. it just pisses me off. And then there's the part that says look at JFK, McCain himself, Gingrich, Clinton. This s*** aint new people. mistakes happen, WE'VE ALL MADE THEM. and honestly, it really sucks now for me too because i've been getting texts left and right, people like you guys waiting to hear what i'm gonna say blah blah blah. EVERYONE that believed in the guy just had a hero destroyed by a money-hungry media. Who gives a s*** if he had an affair? who gives a s*** if George Washington was gay? who gives a s*** about ANY of the stuff that the media these days tries to rip apart? What's the GOD DAMNED POINT in doing this stuff? who are you helping? i think tabloid writers deserve one of the deepest levels of hell for ruining people's lives. god bless america. how bout god f*** america - although he doesn't have to cuz we're doing it to ourselves. wow... that rant got a bit vicious at the end. sorry folks if i offend.
  10. so if she walked up to you and said "do me" you'd say no?
  11. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Heads, your constant attempts to bring relevance to Iowa has only made me wish for it to be annihilated by an asteroid. I'll accept whatever worldwide consequences occur afterwards. i know this is in jest but man... new orleans STILL gets sympathy while iowa gets... shat on. dig it.
  12. yeah damn this HAS to mean either Swish or Pauly are gone... but i can't believe we'd dump Swish... isn't he our 1B of the future?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) Masset+whatever they want for Young. even with his broken finger? but yes, i would piss myself if that happened

  15. dang what a lineup these guys have batting average wise. outside of monroe they're all solid. crazy.
  16. QUOTE (KevinM @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Right. I forgot all those interviews where Javier was begging to be dealt to a team out of contention. This s*** is so tired. oh dear god will you just look at the freaking stats? he's had like... zero quality starts in the last month and a half. that's pretty f***tastic.
  17. but we don't need another SP everyone. (see trade winds thread where i got flamed)
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 03:01 AM) I'm not only going to disagree, I'm going to say that (I believe) you are flat out wrong. The Tigers have no rotation to speak of at all, outside of Verlander, and the Twins rotation features like 3 first year MLB starters. Personally, I think the Sox are going to walk away with the division, and I could honestly even see them backing into a division title...I could see Detroit trying to gather whatever pieces they have and making a run for a starting pitcher at the last second to prevent the Sox from countering, but the only type of starting pitcher I see the Sox needing right now is a 6th starter. I've said that all along. Anybody that thinks the Sox "weakness" is the starting pitching, I feel, is wrong. I see Floyd and Danks struggling a bit down the stretch, but I think Vazquez will rebound, Contreras will pitch well enough, and Buehrle will remain very solid down the stretch. I'd let Richard remain on the roster for the remainder of the year, letting him get about 5 starts between the time Contreras gets back from the DL and the end of the year, taking a start every now and then from Floyd and Danks, and in the meantime, working in blowouts. I've no idea what Liriano's slider looks like right now, but seeing as how that's the pitch that made him throw his arm out in the first place, I can't imagine it's nearly as good anymore. Jimmy might not be able to catch up to 97 coming from the left side, but Quentin and Dye sure as hell can. No, I don't think the Sox need to make a trade. I think KW will make one, because he has to fuel an addiction and a streak of making atleast one move a year, but I don't think it's necessary. it's all about the 30 inning rule. w/ danks and floyd never having pitched this many innings in their career, adding more than 30 innings to their totals from last year begins to heighten the risk for injury and collapse. we'll be FORCED to do that to both if we make a playoff run. I don't see their production holding up. And now we're all just "hoping" that Vaz and Jose rebound. And we know what a big game pitcher Vaz is. Having Richard around will help a bit. yeah, we could still win the division, but personally i would much rather win the whole thing than settle for that. the Angels rotation will be sick, and the Sawks will also be solid. Yeah, ok, obviously in the playoffs anything CAN happen - that's true. I just hate to think we're gonna rely on the production of two young kids having their breakout seasons and who are already regressing, a 50 year old, and a mental case. A Derek Lowe or Duchsherer would help tremendously. And yes, we DO have the pieces in O-Cab, Fields, Poreda, to make something happen.
  19. without another SP we dont win this year. end of story.
  20. holy god just watched that replay and DAMN. that's the sickest play i've seen all year. i love this lexi kid.
