  1. The writing was on the wall for this game before the first pitch was even thrown. This Mendoza guy will shut us out (add him to the list of unknowns like De La Rosa, etc.), Floyd will get blown out and DJ Carrasco will make his first appearance tonight.
  2. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) You can't be serious, can you? If anything, he was at his best before he almost tore his foot off. Overall, however, he was so smooth at 3rd base and had a nice easy swing with good power for a guy that wasn't all that built. He has decent years with the Mets, but I would not call them any better than his time with the Sox. Also, baseball acumen changes dramatically as you get older and get a feel for the ebb and flow (and monotonous grind) of the game. If you were under 10 for most of Ventura's White Sox career, I question how you can compare him to Crede. Thank you. Joe has won how many Gold Gloves? Crede is a great player, but I would not put him ahead of Robin as far as all-time 3B. I had the pleasure of seeing Ventura hit many a grand slam, clutch hits and make unbelievable plays at the hot corner and read stories of what a great teammate he was.
  3. A half tank of gas! Actually, we put ours in savings to do some summer remodeling to the house.
  4. I'm an other. No, not Robin. My middle name is listed up there.
  5. So long Pablo. I saw that Game 2 ALCS live in person and will never forget it. I swear Uribe must have 9 lives or something. Hey, since the Indians are in trading mode, maybe they can give us Andy Gonzalez back!
  6. I've been voting all day at work. I've have the window open down in my task bar. Jermaine will get there thanks to the power of Soxtalk!!
  7. I just hope he and Prince Fielder aren't at the same buffet table...
  8. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 07:29 AM) i feel like it had to be.....i read a few articles that said we are the biggest copycats in the history of baseball for this...which frankly is true....ill be at the game. The Reds are doing it too. :usa :usa Let's see some fireworks during and after the game.
  9. Amazingly, the Sox are only 22 wins away from matching their '07 win total. They also have won 8 straight at home. Hopefully, tonight will be the last time CC pitches against the Sox in an Indians uniform.
  10. QUOTE (YASNY @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) Oh ... probably about 36000 people. :lolhitting :lolhitting
  11. Southsider, since this will be my first softball game, where will it be taking place? Also, how many people are going to the game after?
  12. Great game to be at. I wasn't surrounded by too many annoying Cub fans. But the game itself, was great. Bullpen - unbelievable. JD - unreal I've got my broom ready for tomorrow with Mark on the mound.
  13. I'll be there today as well. Dear Javy, please don't pitch like you have been recently. Thanks. :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs
  14. That is some awesome wallpaper!! Brandon who?
  15. Dempster stupid little glove dance while winding up is annoying. Well, he hasn't won on the road yet. So, let's keep that streak going. :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) You mean they had time to mention that during one of Farmer's stories/jokes? That's why I'm listening to the one and only Vin Scully today.
  17. Clayton Kershaw + Lefthanded + Sox have not seen him + on the road = :uhoh
  18. Good thing I fell asleep during the game. Maybe it was the game itself that put me to sleep. Who knows. It was really boring.
  19. With the recent nice play of Dewayne Wise, it looks like Pablo or Juan may be the odd man out, when Konerko returns. So who would you rather keep? Pablo does bring a little more versatility and speed. But Uribe obviously has more defensive skills and power off the bench (when he's not swinging at everything). Personally, I'd rather keep Pablo. We need someone who can bunt, steal a base and can play almost anywhere (outfield not included). Power, speed, defense, versatility? What one is it? What is more important? Link
  20. This is a great thread. I hate the fans more than the team. Lee, Ramirez, etc. are all great players. It's the fans that get on my nerves. Just today, I've been receiving emails, text from my Cub fan friends gloating about the sweep. It's rather annoying and kinda immature. Just a question for everyone, though. If the tables were turned would you/we do the same? If we sweep them next weekend, I'll be glad we swept them to a) hopefully keep our hold on first place B) shut Cub fans up. I won't be sending silly messages to people.

    George Carlin Dies

I was able to see one of his concerts at the Rosemont Theatre. It was the funniest shows I have ever been. RIP. There will never be another one like him.
  22. Dear Sox, Please win this one. Not only for the fact that it's against the Cubs, but to shut up my Cub Fan Friends, who will be in attendance. Thank You.
  23. Work here is having a BBQ in honor of the game. I am wearing a Sox T-shirt for casual Friday for the game. As for the game, I wouldn't start Thome until tomorrow or Sunday, since Lilly is a lefty. Keep Swisher in there. No Toby -- he hasn't played first since he got hurt. Hopefully, last night's game hurt the psyche of Marmol.
