  1. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) I'll admit the bar is a little lower with Samardzija, since the opportunity cost is a few months of starts for a last place team and a comp. pick when he leaves as a FA. But with Quintana, you better be getting a freaking HAUL! Trading Quintana for pitching prospects, no matter how good, doesn't make any sense at all to me. Indeed. The whole point of trading Quintana would be to obtain a package centered around a team's top position player prospect(s). This team needs depth at just about every position on that field.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) Really? As if trading Shark and not re-signing him for next year wouldn't weaken our pitching staff enough? Let's face it, this team is not as deep as we think in regards to pitching. Even if we trade Shark this year and don't re-sign him (which we definitely won't be able to if we make him pack his bags again and trade him), who the heck do we have in the minors that can take his place...Fulmer? The jury is still out on that one, he is young and unproven. I look for him to eventually replace Danks next year. Additionally, who the heck is going to trade a BIG BAT for a rental like Shark?...nobody. We are not going to get a starting C, 3b, SS, or 2B for Shark. Maybe for Q and Shark, but then your rotation is just plain bad. Major League ready starting pitching is our position of strength. Keep it in tact. If we even had "serviceable" players at 3b, C, SS, and 2B this season, we would be above .500 and in the race. The players we have in those positions now are just plain bad and would be back-ups on other teams. Show Shark some respect, don't make him pack his bags again and trade him. Re-sign him. Drop Ramirez and don't pick-up his $10M option. And go get a couple of "serviceable" Free Agents this winter to at least fill a couple of those positions. Ideally 3B and Catcher. It still believe with some seasoning that Micah Johnson can add some spark to this offense. And as far as money is concerned, the White Sox always tend to surprise. Jerry will open his wallet for a winner. Have you looked at the free agent class yet? Not to mention the White Sox tried to patch things up in free agency this winter and it failed. I HIGHLY doubt they try this route a 2nd year in a row. Listen, I respect Shark and believe he will get a nice contract this winter, but not with the White Sox. When you have 10 teams interested in a guy and your team has a 0% chance if competing for the playoffs, you can't be ignorant, you trade him to a contender and bring back prospects. In regards to Quintana, you can get A LOT for him. When your team has a weak farm system position wise, you have to explore trading from a strength which is the starting pitching. As for your concerns with the rotation in 2016 goes, if i'm right and both Shark and Q are traded, you will likely get an arm back in such a deal AND it appears as if Erik Johnson may have found his way again which is encouraging. Montas and Fulmer should be ready by 2017 just in time for Danks to leave after the 2016 season. I hate to bring this up, but the White Sox will not be contenders in 2016. They need to build a new infield, obtain a catcher and hope for Eaton and Garcia to continue to grow. I can see them being competitive in 2017 if Hahn plays his cards right. Its hard to be patient with this horrible offensive/defensive team but at this point, we have no choice.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) An elite arm like Stroman, Norris, Hoffman, Severino or Urias would be un-pass-up-able. Otherwise, the Sox just set an ALL-TIME team record for home offensive futility, have no significant help coming from the farm, and are faced with a meh free agent class this winter. Getting a significant bat via trade has to be a priority. And this is why we might not only see Shark traded at the deadline, but Quintana as well. I hate to see Q go, but position wise, this team has way to many holes to even consider competing for a division next year. Lets say they leave the OF alone for 2016; which is reasonable, they still would need to be upgraded at 3b, C, SS and 2B BADLY. With the lack of farm depth at all of those positions, trading a cost controlled #2/3 starter might be just what the doctor ordered at this point of time.
  4. I would like to get a future every day position player for Shark, but wouldn't be upset if they acquired a top pitching prospect as well. At this point, anything can happen.
  5. More than half of the starting lineup is hitting below .228. What a sad state for this offense. Worst in the league in multiple offensive categories. 5. Adam LaRoche .228 6. Alexei Ramirez .226 7. Gordon Beckham .203 8. Tyler Flowers .224 9. Carlos Sanchez .162 This is the bottom half of the lineup. I think it's safe to say this is the worst offensive White Sox team of my lifetime. The defense is pretty bad also.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) Thank you for the stats. I now believe Robin SHOULD not be fired. This team has overachieved (win wise) big time considering how rotten it is. Who should be held accountable in your opinion?
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 07:21 AM) Doesn't matter what we want. It's probably going to be Thome or Konerko. Team needs a new owner. KW wanted Konerko to be a player manager before he hired Ventura. What is this the early 1900's? Seriously... KW better not be involved with the next manager hire.
  8. It's truly remarkable watching a pitcher of this caliber on our team. It has been an honor watching this dude take the mound this year. The one bright light in an otherwise forgettable White Sox season. It is a shame that fans (including myself) even brought his name up as a trade option this year. That just means our organization is in such a bad place overall. I would hate to see him 'Sale' away to another team because the men upstairs are bad at what they do. Regardless, keep doing what you do Sale! May the K Zone be forever active in your honor!
  9. White Sox baseball, lack of accountability and 100% loyal to bad! In all honesty, it starts at the very top. Until we get a new owner, or he shocks us all by making changes in upper management, this team will continue to lack a direction and be mediocre to bad.
  10. Didn't the Cubs get an incredible offer from Atlanta for Ryan Dempster, but Dempster used his "no trade clause" to stop the deal? If Shark continues to pitch well, I expect a very nice package of prospects.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) At least until he quit on the team and started looking for another job during the season... I'm pretty sure that happened in 2011 not 2010. Reinsdorf should have let Kenny go too after that horrible divorce.
  12. There have been times this season where Shark has been awesome! He has a track record of being really good. This year we have seen him struggle at times, but overall your getting a pretty darn good pitcher in Samardzija. Since he is Hahn's best trade chip and the Sox are actually in a decent position at the starting pitcher spot in the organization, I say there is a very good chance he is dealt close to that July 31st deadline. This team needs to acquire position player depth badly. I'm not just saying on the main roster, but the farm system is pretty thin at almost every position.
  13. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) I really hope the don't forfeit multiple draft picks by signing mid-tier free agents like this past off-season. The catching position needs to be addressed early and often in next year's draft They will not be forfeiting any draft picks this winter. I'm pretty sure Hahn and staff now realize they are much farther away than originally anticipated. Not only will they likely keep all their draft picks, look for the team to add prospects this summer by dealing guys like: Samardzija, Ramirez, and possibly even Quintana. You are right Lord Chas, they need catcher depth in the system. They also need depth at just about every other position as well. After catcher, I would focus on 3b, SS and OF in the draft. I really hope Samardzija can pitch great up until the deadline. I thought Hahn did a great job trading Peavy at the perfect time for Garcia and Montas in 2013. A similar return package for Shark would be fantastic.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) and i agree. I guess in hindsight I should have mentioned his poor in game decisions over his California weekend get-a-way. I guess I just thought being away that many games was a bit much. Looking back I it, I guess you hire a bench coach to take over when needed. Apparently, Parent is not that good either.
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) On June 9 2010, the Sox were 25-33, 8 games under .500 same as now. They then went on a 25-5 run to get to 50-38. I know people will say that this team doesn't have that in them, but they would have said the same thing about the 2010 team. I'm not saying I'm expecting it but I'm not going to start looking forward to draft position. That 2010 team had a manager who actually motivated his team and held his players accountable when needed. When an organization tells their manager to go home three days for a graduation, that tells me exactly they feel about him. Not only is there a huge difference between previous and current manager, but that 2010 offense was waaaaayyyyy better than this crap fest. This team will go 70-92 and obtain another top 5 pick. Pretty sad since they were suppose to be competitive this year with all the money they spent. On a side note, can they just bite the bullet and release Danks?
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) That may be it for the rest of the season, and I'm ok with that. But there's no way Robin and this coaching staff should return in 2016. Even if the Sox made decent progress but still missed the playoffs this year, wouldn't the organization still have to consider an upgrade at Manager? This would be the 4th year in a row Ventura's team missed the playoffs. The fact that this team is this bad even after all the additions means that Robin BETTER be fired.Fans have questioned his managerial decisions more than ever this season. I'm calling it now: After the final game of the regular season: The White Sox AND Robin Ventura mutually agreed to part ways. Jerry loves him too much to publicly 'fire' him but this is going to happen. Cooper once again will have the option to stay under the next manager, but all of the other coaches will be fired. I'm calling it now, Hahn will be forced to try and convince Konerko to be their next manager. :huh
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) It really grinds my gears how much credit McDonough gets for the Hawks run of success. He brought in the Bowmans. That right there is enough in my mind. He also brought the winter classic to Chicago to better sell the Blackhawk brand at s time when they still were growing. McDonough is the perfect type of President, "hands off". He lets Stan do his job while he focuses on other avenues of the organization. Do you think KW is hands off as the White Sox president? I'm sure Hahn would love it that way, but No way!
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 02:20 AM) Hey you ain't seen nothing yet. Seventh pick today. This team may lose between 100-105 games. That should be good for the first pick or second. The sad thing is I believe that. This team just might lose 95-100 games this year. It will be another top 3 pick and the Sox will draft yet another starting pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) But those top 3 or 4 prospects would have to be very good prospects, which limits the teams that could do it. Who would be willing to do it, and who are those players? Let's use LA for instance. You are at least asking for a package starting with this: Corey Seagar Julio Urias Joc Pederson Howie Kendrick
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) What's an example of a Kings Ransom that a team would actually be willing to part with to get Sale? We're talking a teams top 3 or 4 prospects AT least. To be honest you can ask for any teams best player for Chris Sale because he is that damn good.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) The Bulls didn't win for 7 years with Michael Jordan. The Bears didn't win for 10 years with Walter Payton. Trading one of the best pitchers in baseball, cost controlled as he is, to improve your team? About as dumb as it gets, unless you plan to be bad for 4 or 5 years. Would you rather improve your overall team by trading away a great pitcher OR watch a losing team over the next 3-4 seasons with a really great pitcher? You can get a Kings Ransom if you trade Sale.
  22. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) This thread is stupid. Sale isn't going anywhere with how good and cheap he is, not to mention the fact that he is probably the best White Sox pitcher we've had in decades. Nope, they're going to hold onto him for the time being and try to fill in pieces around him. You don't trade everything away just because you fell out of contention one season. They have been out of contention for three straight seasons with Sale. Obviously he is not the problem, but they simply have issues at just about every other position on the field. If Sale isn't going anywhere great, then you HAVE to to at least explore options for guys like Abreu and Quintana. The White Sox are in a horrible situation. They have no plan set in place, the farm system is not very deep and the coaching staff is awful. This team needs to rebuild. I mentioned in a previous post, if they do it right, we can be good again by 2018 if they approach this thing appropriately and actually have a plan in place.
  23. I was actually thinking Hahn was in control, until kW was all over the media outlets during the winter meetings. KW buried this farm system, yet he still has a say in organizational personnel? C'mon Jerry, wake up and get with the times. It's not 2005 anymore. If Hahn is the GM, let him run this whole damn thing. Let Kenny and his lame manager choice, RV go. Let Buddy Bell and the scouting department staff go and bring in guys with a different mindset. Guys who actually know how to scout talent, No more drafting of guys like Jared Mitchell instead of Mike Trout etc.. The fans are pissed, change is being demanded. Throw your loyalty out the window and do what's right for the organization. Hell if you want to model the organization after the Blackhawks, look at some of their moves when Rocky took over. He hired a solid team president who was bold enough to bring in the Bowmans (outside the organization). They eventually let Hawk legend Savard go as the coach and brought in Quinville (outside the organization). Not to mention they promoted Stan Bowman as the GM to replace another longtime Blackhawks guy, Dale Tallon. I know it's comparing apples and oranges but Rocky Wirtz changed the culture of a losing organization by getting rid of loyal old time dudes and brought in amazing hockey minds outside the organization. Jerry needs to suck it up and do the same thing. I mean how much longer do us fans have to suffer from this crap and see Robin, Harold on the bench, see Kenny override Hahn on moves and watch the farm system continue to be on the bottom half of baseball, prospect wise? To be blunt, this organization currently stinks and will for awhile until the culture has changed and the proper moves have been made. Unfortunately, with JR at the helm, those moves will most likely not happen. For that reason, it's time for new ownership to take over.
  24. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) No one is going to get fired until after the season and it will be the hitting coach.. and things will move on like normal. And this is why the organization has turned into crap. No direction and a lack of accountability. I'm beyond frustrated with this piss poor play. dj even called out Eaton and Alexei during the radio call today saying they look extremely sloppy and their approach is awful. If Hahn doesn't do something soon, I will question him as a GM. Who the hell is in charge here?
  25. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) You'd have to have Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart as your bench coach, Paul Bearer as first base coach, Lou Albano at third, and Jim Cornette as the hitting coach. Haha this is awesome! Love me some wrestling referencing.
