QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) Thank you for the stats. I now believe Robin SHOULD not be fired. This team has overachieved (win wise) big time considering how rotten it is. Who should be held accountable in your opinion?

Who do you want to see replace Robin as manager of the Sox?

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 07:21 AM) Doesn't matter what we want. It's probably going to be Thome or Konerko. Team needs a new owner. KW wanted Konerko to be a player manager before he hired Ventura. What is this the early 1900's? Seriously... KW better not be involved with the next manager hire. -
Chris Sale is the most bestest pitcher evar!
GreatScott82 replied to Rowand44's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's truly remarkable watching a pitcher of this caliber on our team. It has been an honor watching this dude take the mound this year. The one bright light in an otherwise forgettable White Sox season. It is a shame that fans (including myself) even brought his name up as a trade option this year. That just means our organization is in such a bad place overall. I would hate to see him 'Sale' away to another team because the men upstairs are bad at what they do. Regardless, keep doing what you do Sale! May the K Zone be forever active in your honor! -
White Sox baseball, lack of accountability and 100% loyal to bad! In all honesty, it starts at the very top. Until we get a new owner, or he shocks us all by making changes in upper management, this team will continue to lack a direction and be mediocre to bad.

Didn't the Cubs get an incredible offer from Atlanta for Ryan Dempster, but Dempster used his "no trade clause" to stop the deal? If Shark continues to pitch well, I expect a very nice package of prospects.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) At least until he quit on the team and started looking for another job during the season... I'm pretty sure that happened in 2011 not 2010. Reinsdorf should have let Kenny go too after that horrible divorce. -
There have been times this season where Shark has been awesome! He has a track record of being really good. This year we have seen him struggle at times, but overall your getting a pretty darn good pitcher in Samardzija. Since he is Hahn's best trade chip and the Sox are actually in a decent position at the starting pitcher spot in the organization, I say there is a very good chance he is dealt close to that July 31st deadline. This team needs to acquire position player depth badly. I'm not just saying on the main roster, but the farm system is pretty thin at almost every position.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) I really hope the don't forfeit multiple draft picks by signing mid-tier free agents like this past off-season. The catching position needs to be addressed early and often in next year's draft They will not be forfeiting any draft picks this winter. I'm pretty sure Hahn and staff now realize they are much farther away than originally anticipated. Not only will they likely keep all their draft picks, look for the team to add prospects this summer by dealing guys like: Samardzija, Ramirez, and possibly even Quintana. You are right Lord Chas, they need catcher depth in the system. They also need depth at just about every other position as well. After catcher, I would focus on 3b, SS and OF in the draft. I really hope Samardzija can pitch great up until the deadline. I thought Hahn did a great job trading Peavy at the perfect time for Garcia and Montas in 2013. A similar return package for Shark would be fantastic. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) and i agree. I guess in hindsight I should have mentioned his poor in game decisions over his California weekend get-a-way. I guess I just thought being away that many games was a bit much. Looking back I it, I guess you hire a bench coach to take over when needed. Apparently, Parent is not that good either. -

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) On June 9 2010, the Sox were 25-33, 8 games under .500 same as now. They then went on a 25-5 run to get to 50-38. I know people will say that this team doesn't have that in them, but they would have said the same thing about the 2010 team. I'm not saying I'm expecting it but I'm not going to start looking forward to draft position. That 2010 team had a manager who actually motivated his team and held his players accountable when needed. When an organization tells their manager to go home three days for a graduation, that tells me exactly they feel about him. Not only is there a huge difference between previous and current manager, but that 2010 offense was waaaaayyyyy better than this crap fest. This team will go 70-92 and obtain another top 5 pick. Pretty sad since they were suppose to be competitive this year with all the money they spent. On a side note, can they just bite the bullet and release Danks? -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 12:13 PM) That may be it for the rest of the season, and I'm ok with that. But there's no way Robin and this coaching staff should return in 2016. Even if the Sox made decent progress but still missed the playoffs this year, wouldn't the organization still have to consider an upgrade at Manager? This would be the 4th year in a row Ventura's team missed the playoffs. The fact that this team is this bad even after all the additions means that Robin BETTER be fired.Fans have questioned his managerial decisions more than ever this season. I'm calling it now: After the final game of the regular season: The White Sox AND Robin Ventura mutually agreed to part ways. Jerry loves him too much to publicly 'fire' him but this is going to happen. Cooper once again will have the option to stay under the next manager, but all of the other coaches will be fired. I'm calling it now, Hahn will be forced to try and convince Konerko to be their next manager. :huh

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) It really grinds my gears how much credit McDonough gets for the Hawks run of success. He brought in the Bowmans. That right there is enough in my mind. He also brought the winter classic to Chicago to better sell the Blackhawk brand at s time when they still were growing. McDonough is the perfect type of President, "hands off". He lets Stan do his job while he focuses on other avenues of the organization. Do you think KW is hands off as the White Sox president? I'm sure Hahn would love it that way, but No way!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 02:20 AM) Hey you ain't seen nothing yet. Seventh pick today. This team may lose between 100-105 games. That should be good for the first pick or second. The sad thing is I believe that. This team just might lose 95-100 games this year. It will be another top 3 pick and the Sox will draft yet another starting pitcher.

Could the Sox get proper value in trading Sale?

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) But those top 3 or 4 prospects would have to be very good prospects, which limits the teams that could do it. Who would be willing to do it, and who are those players? Let's use LA for instance. You are at least asking for a package starting with this: Corey Seagar Julio Urias Joc Pederson Howie Kendrick -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) What's an example of a Kings Ransom that a team would actually be willing to part with to get Sale? We're talking a teams top 3 or 4 prospects AT least. To be honest you can ask for any teams best player for Chris Sale because he is that damn good. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) The Bulls didn't win for 7 years with Michael Jordan. The Bears didn't win for 10 years with Walter Payton. Trading one of the best pitchers in baseball, cost controlled as he is, to improve your team? About as dumb as it gets, unless you plan to be bad for 4 or 5 years. Would you rather improve your overall team by trading away a great pitcher OR watch a losing team over the next 3-4 seasons with a really great pitcher? You can get a Kings Ransom if you trade Sale. -

QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) This thread is stupid. Sale isn't going anywhere with how good and cheap he is, not to mention the fact that he is probably the best White Sox pitcher we've had in decades. Nope, they're going to hold onto him for the time being and try to fill in pieces around him. You don't trade everything away just because you fell out of contention one season. They have been out of contention for three straight seasons with Sale. Obviously he is not the problem, but they simply have issues at just about every other position on the field. If Sale isn't going anywhere great, then you HAVE to to at least explore options for guys like Abreu and Quintana. The White Sox are in a horrible situation. They have no plan set in place, the farm system is not very deep and the coaching staff is awful. This team needs to rebuild. I mentioned in a previous post, if they do it right, we can be good again by 2018 if they approach this thing appropriately and actually have a plan in place. -
Should the Sox make an example out of someone?
GreatScott82 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was actually thinking Hahn was in control, until kW was all over the media outlets during the winter meetings. KW buried this farm system, yet he still has a say in organizational personnel? C'mon Jerry, wake up and get with the times. It's not 2005 anymore. If Hahn is the GM, let him run this whole damn thing. Let Kenny and his lame manager choice, RV go. Let Buddy Bell and the scouting department staff go and bring in guys with a different mindset. Guys who actually know how to scout talent, No more drafting of guys like Jared Mitchell instead of Mike Trout etc.. The fans are pissed, change is being demanded. Throw your loyalty out the window and do what's right for the organization. Hell if you want to model the organization after the Blackhawks, look at some of their moves when Rocky took over. He hired a solid team president who was bold enough to bring in the Bowmans (outside the organization). They eventually let Hawk legend Savard go as the coach and brought in Quinville (outside the organization). Not to mention they promoted Stan Bowman as the GM to replace another longtime Blackhawks guy, Dale Tallon. I know it's comparing apples and oranges but Rocky Wirtz changed the culture of a losing organization by getting rid of loyal old time dudes and brought in amazing hockey minds outside the organization. Jerry needs to suck it up and do the same thing. I mean how much longer do us fans have to suffer from this crap and see Robin, Harold on the bench, see Kenny override Hahn on moves and watch the farm system continue to be on the bottom half of baseball, prospect wise? To be blunt, this organization currently stinks and will for awhile until the culture has changed and the proper moves have been made. Unfortunately, with JR at the helm, those moves will most likely not happen. For that reason, it's time for new ownership to take over. -

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) No one is going to get fired until after the season and it will be the hitting coach.. and things will move on like normal. And this is why the organization has turned into crap. No direction and a lack of accountability. I'm beyond frustrated with this piss poor play. dj even called out Eaton and Alexei during the radio call today saying they look extremely sloppy and their approach is awful. If Hahn doesn't do something soon, I will question him as a GM. Who the hell is in charge here? -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) You'd have to have Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart as your bench coach, Paul Bearer as first base coach, Lou Albano at third, and Jim Cornette as the hitting coach. Haha this is awesome! Love me some wrestling referencing.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) And they were also a solid (not great but above average) fielding team. We don't have a problem with being too good on pitching. We have a problem in that we're terrible everywhere else and we have no resources with which to become non-terrible other than the pitching and no hope of becoming non-terrible in those aspects of the game in the near future unless we use the pitching to do so. Well said! In 2013 Hahn traded Peavy, Santiago and Reed in attempt to shore up some of our lack of position player depth within the organization. In 2015, look for Hahn to do the exact thing with Samardzija and possibly even Quintana. Why do we have to keep trading pitching? Because it's the one area this organization has that is not bad and other teams desire. If we look back to 2013, Hahn barely got anything for Rios, couldn't give Dunn away and got marbles for De Aza and Beckham last year. It's pretty sad to realize we have very few position player assets on the MLB roster AND down in the farm. The even more discouraging part about this is it's been this way for a long while now.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) Examples? In the last 7-8 years (after the Quentin/Ramirez/Danks/Floyd acquisitions), there have been just a few excellent players added to the organization. There's Chris Sale, Abreu and Rodon kind of fell into their laps. If you can convince anyone that KW used advanced stats to identify either one of those players...well, I'll believe it when I see it. Earlier, you asked me how much time I've spent playing sports. How much time has Rick Hahn? I'm not the issue to be solved for the White Sox front office, it's talent identification and development that are on trial here. Well said!

This team needs a complete overhaul from the coaching staff, scouting department and front office. This team has been bad for 7 years now. The farm is not that good and other than Abreu and Garcia, this offense is pathetic. The 3b, 2b and C positions have been a nightmare for awhile now and I'm tired of accepting a horse crap product. They say White Sox fans will not tolerate a 3 year losing window or "rebuild", I think that is also crap. If management lays out an actual plan or direction for this team, I'd say most fans would definitely embrace a full out rebuild. Theo and the Cubs made it clear that they were essentially losing on purpose to build a team full of young talent that will be loaded with prospects. Although most thought it was a pathetic approach, it's kind of hard to ignore how impactful their young talent has been on the field this year. The fact of the matter is, they went on a full blown rebuild and it has paid off. They lost on purpose for 4 straight seasons under Epstein. I'm thinking for the White Sox, they can probably do a successful rebuild in 3 seasons: 2015- sell off veterans and acquire the best prospects possible. Earn another high draft pick. Fire Robin and staff at seasons end. Overhaul scouting departments. Hire a quality manager and staff outside the organization. Consider trading assets if you can get a load of talent back. 2016- give some prospects a chance to play, continue to sell off veterans for prospects, earn more top draft picks. 2017- give prospects more playing time, start seeing progress within minors and major league squad. Obtain yet another high draft pick. 2018- the white sox are back! Fans see direction, are happy and you actually have a chance at sustained success. Turn into buyers and actually start competing annually with a tremendous core of young talent.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) Going to be interesting to see what the roster looks like on August 1st. Because this season is...o-vah. Get to 2 under, and then immediately lose 3. What a joke. Yep. Time to start thinking of trading some of these veterans away. This team is not good. No point of them fooling themselves in thinking they still have s chance at this thing. I have seen enough.

Wow. I didn't realize how mediocre the AL was this year. The trade deadline this year will be very intriguing as most teams will likely be alive by then.
