  1. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) You have to think that Carl Crawford might be available. TB has alot of OFs and he is expensive for them. Maybe they would do a swisher for crawford deal? They could use the power and swisher can play RF, LF, CF, DH and 1B. If they have a ton of OF's how come they dont have any competent enough to play RF. They had a ton of OF's but Baldelli went down with his sickness and they traded Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes. No way in hell do the Rays trade Crawford.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) That I strongly disagree with. You'll get little to no value for a player who is solely a DH. You can get value for a player who can play an adequate RF. You also lose the left handed presence in the middle of the lineup. I like JD a lot more than I do Thome, but if we are going to get a far superior package of players for Dye than it's a no brainer in who to get rid of.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 03:25 PM) If I could go back to a year ago, and re-make my decision... I would get a PS3 instead of a 360. At the time, all I wanted to do was play Halo 3, but man, I'd love to have that Blue Ray player and the ability to play The Show. Plus, I believe the PS3 looks better on HD tvs. Yeah I agree, if I could go back I would no doubt go with the ps3 over 360. Most games I play are on both consoles anyways.
  4. The Rangers are overloaded with young good catchers. We prob can easily nab one of them.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 02:38 AM) If we trade Swisher and Dye (to get back the prospects enabling us to complete these deals), though, we're still short one outfielder. And we still have a huge problem in the back end of the rotation...not to mention if anyone from the rotation gets hurt. Then it's Broadway/Carrasco/H. Ramirez time. We have McLouth for CF and Quentin for LF or RF. I guess we could live with an Owens/Wise/Anderson platoon again, but I wouldn't like it a lot. Bringing in Hardy, Beltre and McLouth would be too much for me to believe. I will be surprised if we get more than one player of that caliber this off-season. Who knows, KW is always full of surprises. Well we definitely wouldnt trade both Swisher and Dye obviously, chances are we dont trade either lol. I was just suggesting if we wanted to get McLouth that Swisher could be a major piece in that deal. All in all, while I love talking about possible off-season moves and whatnot, Im expecting something completely shocking. I could definitely see one piece we all saw coming(hudson/figgins/etc.) but I fully expect KW to make a move none of us foresaw.
  6. If Mclouth was indeed a target, to somewhat save our farm we could include Swisher in the deal. Swisher is a similar player and is signed for a few years relatively cheaper so Pirates would be interested. Still take a little more but he could/should be the major part of the deal. It would be the only way we could acquire him and another guy like Beltre.
  7. Armstrong seems like a nice backup option for any team besides us lol. With AJ as our primary catcher he would almost be pointless on the big league club.
  8. While I do want Vazquez gone, just cant stand him. If what we are getting back is Suppan than you can forget about it. Most likely whether we like it or not Vazquez will be in our rotation to begin next season.
  9. Chris Getz definitely intrigues me. He reminds me a little bit of Pedroia. Not your prototypical major league hitter but something about him makes me want to give him a chance. Ive always been a big fan of his as he progressed through the minors might be a factor in it too. That being said the only way he is a starter next season is if we sign Furcal and Alexi is moved to CF. Furcal Ramirez Quentin Thome Dye Konerko Beltre Pieryznski Getz I do think Getz would be best suited in the 2 hole but I wouldnt know how to justify have Ramirez so low in the lineup. That seems pretty realistic as what could happen though. After 2009 season is when the major changes in our offense would begin.
  10. I think the Rays will be looking to address the DH or RF positions in the off-season. Dye definitely would be better suited as the DH for them, I dont think they give up Garza for him though and Im not really interested in Sonnanstine or Jackson.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) Sabathia is going to get a Johan Santana like contract; with the number of innings he's thrown in the past 2 years and that amount of fat on his body, it just doesn't seem to bode well. I could easily see him turning into something close to Mike Hampton. I do think Sabathia will be fine in the long run. The one thing I would definitely do is limit his innings next season, preferably closer to the 200 range rather than 250.
  12. The my friends crap McCain keeps saying is annoying lol. This debate setup is very poor, they are time to give them too short of time to answer questions.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) That career high in OBP came this year. He started seeing more pitches and, after a slow start, hit the s*** out of the ball from June 1 or so and onward. His peripherals are climbing upwards in a year in which pitching made a big time comeback, he hits for a pretty good average, and he has power, as evidenced by his 55+ XBHs the past two seasons. The only thing that concerns me is his defense, as I don't know how good it is, but if Beltre were brought in to play 3B as well, you'd have pretty good range between the 3B and SS. EDIT: from June 2nd to the end of the season Im still not 100% sold on him turning the corner, thats half a season of baseball and poor players can have good half seasons all the time. I do agree on you about Beltre being brought in would be a huge plus and that the Thome for Figgins trade is total nonsense. People keep bringing up Carlos Lee for Podsenick, well fact of the matter is we got ripped off on that trade. Yes we shed some salary but we easily could have shed his contract and recieved better players from most any other team.

    TV/LCD Tv?

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) My dad didnt want me buying a refurbished item, and i found this tv, does anyone have any reviews with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16889197004 22" LCD HDTV I have a 42 inch Envision, bought it a year ago and still works perfectly no dead pixels or anything. Id put it on par with Sylvannia/Olevia.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) Because he's good I dont think he is really all that good. He has some pop for a SS but his career high OBP is .343 and I once thought he was a plus defender but what Im hearing now is thats not exactly true. I truly think a lot of people will be dissapointed if we traded for Hardy as the season progressed.
  16. QUOTE (beautox @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) Because they have Escobar just about ready to step in and they need 2 starters for their team and Javy is cost effective for 2 more seasons the same amount as hardy before hes a FA. The real question is why we want JJ Hardy, he is exactly the type of hitter we have already.
  17. QUOTE (BurlyMan56 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) Welcome Aboard Nate Mclouth, Ian Snell, Doug Brocail, Casey Blake and Robinson Cano. See ya OC, Crede, Macdougal, Logan, Griffey, Dye and whoever else it'll take to get those guys here. If the Pirates trade away Nate McClouth they truly are the worse franchise in the majors. He is still cheap and was a very productive player this season, I guess one could argue to sell high but if I was running the franchise he would definitely be on the keeper board.
  18. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:25 AM) I want Alexei batting #2 next year. I know he has power and RBI potential, but IMO he's the perfect fit for hitting 2nd. With CQ batting behind him, he's sure to see more fastballs, which he f***ing loves (and i love that he loves them) Especially if we trade for a guy like Figgins to lead off. He will see more fastballs to keep the leadoff man from stealing and to not walk him with a guy like Quentin behind him, it makes too much sense?
  19. I would have no problems batting Alexi 2nd. He would see more fastballs with Quentin and the rest of the big boppers behind him. He also seemed to take more pitches as season progressed.
  20. This has been a very depressing series, let a poor offense score runs on us while we hit singles if lucky.
  21. Im not sure how Griffey and Dye struck out that inning. Dye on a 87 mph fastball down the middle and Griffey at a ball in dirt before it reached home.
  22. Yeah this isnt looking good, doesnt matter how Floyd pitched with how our offense is looking. If this series isnt enough evidence I dont know what is for KW to retool the offense.
  23. The ball was out of the zone and Harold is acting like it was down the middle, guy is an idiot. Also why cant Wise ever cut off a ball, how can he be so poor in LF.
  24. Im happy we were able to make it this far, but god its really frustrating how our offense has decided to not show up one bit. Dewayne Wise has half our RBI's and sat out 1 game... its not good.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) But then you get all the excitement of the Free Agent period and crazy Kenny's house of deals! Just have to hope the Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls can keep us entertained until spring training.
