Fixing the speed problem while remaining revenue neutral
GoodAsGould replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) Well, Beltre and Mora would be more logical, since they're familiar with the AL already...and Blake. Beltre is going to be option #1 for every team out there, and I'm not convinced the Mariners have decided to part with him unless they can get an outstanding package in return. Actually, I think they would rather get rid of Ichiro, it's just that they can't do it because of their fanbase. Kouzmanoff and Atkins are wild cards. I dont think Beltre will be in that high demand, prob mostly just us and the twins that would put together a serious package for him. Honestly all this talk is a moot point anyways, KW always goes and does something nobody see's coming. All I hope is that KW does see that this team has some glaring holes in it and changes need to be made. -

I wouldnt want any of those 3 guys, they are all over the hill. Also, I dont think Casey Blake helps this team in any way... his defense is below avg. and he is a similar hitter to what we have now. Yes, he is better than Uribe offensively but thats true of almost any 3B. -

I really thing KW needs to address the top of the lineup in the offseason. My ideal off-season would be to sign Orlando Hudson, trade for Figgins and trade for Beltre. Figgins goes to CF, and bats leadoff while Hudson bats in the 2 hole. Beltre would help boost the middle of the lineup. The only problem is one of Swisher/Konerko/Thome needs to go. If he would agree I wouldnt mind dealing Thome and DHing Dye, I love Thome but I think that we would be more balanced without him and since he cant be count on as an everyday 1B have to give the edge to Konerko. I dont know what to do regarding the pitching, Ideally Id like Richard in the bullpen though and someone outside the organization brought in. -

QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) i honestly think it's walk. every guy we bring in suddenly stops hitting. there's gotta be something to that Cabrera is hitting above his career avg, Dye has had some of his best seasons here, Quentin broke out here, Kong came up with Walker..... I think its the players. -

This is Kazmir's last inning most likely, nice to not let him finish it if possible. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) If they give Longoria a chance to tie this game they are idiots. Longoria is not Pujols, not Manny, not A-Rod... he isnt an unstoppable force atleast not yet. Obviously you dont throw him meatballs like Vazquez but I have no problem attacking him. -

I love Juan and hate him lol, he did seem he was outgunned that whole ab. We only came away with 2 runs but could have easily been 0 and we worked up a high pitch count so good inning. Now we need our stopper to keep these guys scoreless. -

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 09:28 AM) I got the latest Canon Powershot for around the price (the one with Maria Sharapova in the ads). It's got a 12 megapixel zoom, and lots of different options etc. so it's a pretty good camera. I'd recommend that. Lol megapixels has nothing to do with zoom, that just goes towards the size of pictures you can have at good quality. Most people dont need more than 7 megapixels.

Twins have "internal discussions" about Cabrera and Crede
GoodAsGould replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) There are probably 2 areas KW will focus on most this offseason: A leadoff hitter and a SP. I do not think he thinks there is a problem in CF. So the OF is fairly set. 3B could be filled with Fields in KW's mind, you better believe that. So most likely he will look at a project pitcher like Freddy for a SP and sign whatever big name middle IF'er that falls to his price range. I would say he probably does that, signs a fringe pen guy and calls it an offseason. There will be ZERO overhauls this offseason folks. This team almost won 90 games and made the playoffs without a 5th starter and our best offensive weapon. KW has no reason to think he needs a lineup overhaul. This team is old, obviously there wont be a complete overhaul but I do expect some major changes. If we go into next season without cutting/trading some dead weight and picking up key pieces the whitesox will be watching the playoffs next season. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Not supportive, just if Javy is below average with a sub 5 era, then what are Broadway and Richard with eras over 6 and 7? Everyone who posts here wishes that the Sox could have started Sandy Koufax (luckily our game wasnt on a high holiday), but the facts are the Sox had no Sandy Koufax available. Given the other options, Vazquez had what would seem like the best chances. I just dont understand how you couldnt hope a guy would win who had a sub 4 era against TB... He didnt win, but there was definitely reason to hope. Again you need to stop looking at season stats. Vazquez was complete garbage his last 3 regular season starts, than he ofcourse went into the playoffs and pitched the same. Given that he has pitched like complete horses*** during the most important part of the year you cant justify him starting a game over anyone. Thats why if we make it far enough, I fully expect a 3 man rotation or worse case Richard would become the 4th starter. Just so Im clear, Im not second guessing starting Vazquez game 1 vs Tampa, it was neccesary. But for any future starts I cant justify using him again this playoffs, don't even want to see him in the bullpen. -
Do you think KW would undo the Chris Young trade now?
GoodAsGould replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While I was a huge fan of Young as a prospect, he hasnt really been that good in the majors. The trade that KW prob wishes he could do was Cunningham for Richar. While I liked the tools Richar brought, I didnt understand the trade with how Cunningham was highly thought of and on the rise. But in the end, you win some trades and you lose some..... as long as KW is on the winning side more often than not Im not complaining. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:23 PM) I'm thinking of buying a camera. It's definitely not something I need, but I have this feeling like I should own one. I really don't want to spend more than $200. Is it even possible to buy a quality camera for that much? Any suggestions? If your going for style and fun feautures go with Sony if you want best quality go with Canon. Id stick between those 2 brands though personally.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 05:57 PM) The problem is the Sox have no other starting options that would likely get them a better result. Javy's era is lower than Richard's era. Youd just be playing a gut feeling basically. Thats only if your going by season, Javy has been completely destroyed his last 4 starts I think. You cant keep marching him out there, either we go with the 3 man rotation or we put in Richard. -
Do Griffey and Thome want WS rings? They both were horrible today thats for sure.

wow that was a great ab by Konerko
