Really cant be 2 upset with a split vs Boston, although I thought we could have very easily won the two games that we lost. Now that being said, we have 9 games vs not very good teams, I think 6-3 is a must during this stretch if not 7-2.
-
I guess I could live with Washburn or Backe, but who knows how possible it is to get either of them. Personally I would have no problem giving Poreda a shot at the rotation.
-
Lol it was a playful bet I dont think Bobby would have to do anything if Floyd didnt reach 12 wins. Plus, going into the year who really thought Floyd would be winning 12 games and position to get a few more. He was a struggling pitcher and we were supposed to be a poor team.

Harrel is probably my favorite pitching prospect, hence the avatar. Because of injuries he will definitely repeat AA next season but hopefully he stays healthy and ends next year in AAA pushing for a roster spot.
-
Denard Span has been a more than capable replacement for Cuddyer so not that big of a blow, only other guy he would replace is Gomez who seems to kill us despite his overall poor numbers.
-
I wouldnt mind calling him up to replace Logan for these last 2 months. Give him a glimpse of the majors and maybe he ends up being Bobby Jenks esque for us in the bullpen. Its not like Logan is doing a good job anyways that he could be that much of a dropoff.

lets make it 2-0 vs the hated Red Sawx

I heard on the radio that some US Coach had been stabbed to death, I think they said it was of the volleyball team. -
Thank god, Ill be happy not seeing him for the rest of the year. I know he dominates AAA and showed promise last year but everytime he came into a game this season I felt like changing the channel.

I thought the line looked fine vs the Chiefs, didnt get that much push on the run blocking but very successful in terms of pass blocking. Id atleast like the Bears stick with the same 5 and setup for the 2nd game and see how they look. -
hopefully we somehow survive this, if we lose this game thats twice in a row we lost because of coaches instead of players.
-
woo lets use 4 pitchers in one inning.... good old Ozzie managing.
-
why did we even take Mark out, because he gave up one base hit...... he was filthy.
-
We better not f*** this one up, it will be heart breaking.
-
I think the Tigers have to be out of it now, looks like both us and Twins will win and thats two teams what 8 games ahead of you. Not impossible but has to be like a 1% chance.
-
So far this has been a great game played by the whitesox overall, hopefully we keep it up and mark it in the W column

QUOTE (pierard @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 06:31 AM) I'm in Suzhou, China right now and its wild how crazy this country is going. Right at 8, everything, and I mean everything shut down. There are thousands of people on the streets watching the random TV's they can find (about 30 people watching a 18in rabbit ears TV). Fireworks going off everywhere. It's pretty amazing. Now the USA needs to put them back in the shops so I can buy some fake goods for the family. I hope your enjoying yourself, when I was in Suzhou I stayed in the absolute crappiest hotel lol, the bathrooms were dirty and beds werent comfortable at all, but its the city of gardens and they had a nice little outside garden in the middle of it... -
I really hope Wasserman is the one sent down when Contreras comes back, he is definitely the least valuable person in the bullpen. And id like to say f*** you to our 3B coach one more time. Start the Fire Cox thread.
-
Well if we lose this game even though there are a number of reasons, nothing is as bad as Cox, I know im being kind of a hothead but I definitely wouldnt be against him being fired immediately after the game... this isnt the first time he was way off.
-
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) If Cox had held him up, this board would have exploded with anger. Absolutely, after a weird bounce like that, it would have. Are you kidding, maybe if it was anyone besides Thome/Konerko/Pieryznski you send the guy home but that wasnt even close, it was pathetically bad.
-
If Cox is brought back next year ill s*** a brick, the guy is clueless out there and an idiot.
-
I hate Vazquez, nobody frustrates me more on this team than him. I really hope he isnt here next season.
-
Chris Davis has significantly less time than Alexi/Longoria but with the way he has come in the league and mashed the ball he has to get some consideration too. Depending on if he keeps it up these last two months.
-
To be fair, its not like Alexi pulls a Uribe and swings at balls no where near the zone on a consistant basis. He is just very good at putting the ball in play, which doesnt lead to deep counts.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 04:32 AM) and, IMO (and I'm sure the Sox have quite the same opinion), the Sox have a similar option in the name of Brian Anderson, who happens to be a 4th outfielder on a team in one of the most competitive divisions in the league that just so happens to be in first place. Chris Young would have the same place on this team. Atleast Anderson has an arm. I hope Arizona is happy with what they gave up for Dan Haren...even if he's been stellar, they were buying high as high could get. They have lost a lot of their minor league system in hopes they'd be very good this year (and I suppose for the future too, with that franchise), and it has turned quite disappointing. Youth doesn't always pay off, seeing the inconsistency that organization has brought upon itself, and I find myself a fan of them. They struggle. As a side note, thanks Zona for Carlos Quentin, and much thanks to Kenny Williams...following the 2006 season, seeing the weaknesses of the team and taking that long (in case your arithmetic sucks, 1 full season) to deal with them to bring us the team he has, so far, to this day. It's in first place. Dan Haren has had a very succesful season this year and the diamondbacks probably wouldnt be in position to reach the playoffs without him. Yes their record leaves a lot to be desired but they can be a very good playoff team with Webb/Haren/RJ.
