QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) Freddy Sanchez has a lower on base percentage than Juan Uribe. They're both f***ing terrible offensively, but if you are so bad that you are getting on base less than Juan Uribe, you are really bad. Let's hope this is the last time Sanchez's name is brought up. Well Sanchez has had a down year this season but the last two he has been a pretty good avg. hitter and a lot of doubles. Not too mention maybe playing games that matter and a lineup with some pop behind him could always help out. We dont need both Brian Anderson and Dewayne Wise on the team so there is a spot open on the roster for a middle infielder.

Nice win today, scored some runs got some great pitching. Probably one of the most well played games in awhile by the whitesox, hopefully we carry the momentum to a sweep of tigers and a series victory against Boston.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 06:33 AM) It seems to be taken for granted that Uribe won't be back next year. I think he will be. I think Uribe wants to start and this organization will do its best to let him pursue that elsewhere. Especially with all the good reports of him being a very solid teamate this season despite being benched. On another note I can see the Whitesox having a very busy off-season or standing pat, maybe some minor tweaks. I know I would like some changes but Im also a fan lol so never happy.
-
Im not even going to worry about it, that being said I wouldnt really want to face any of the Brewers, Arizona, or Cubs in a short series. They all have 1-2 punches that are pretty filthy.
-
Still got to complete the comeback and get this game in the W category, but I have to say from doom and gloom to this is nice. Now it would be crushing to lose though.
-
For awhile now it has been really hard to watch this team, Ozzie Guillen needs to give everyone a kick in the ass in the locker room or something. Show them tapes of how we played in first half compared to 2nd... whatever you have to do.
-
With the way we are hitting the ball its pathetic we have only 1 run so far, we best break through these next couple of innings. If we lose this game 2-1 Ill stop watching this team for a week.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) If Ortiz is out...yes. Manny is just ridiculous when he's healthy and we all know that. But if Drew keeps hitting, and Ortiz comes back strong, and Bay keeps up what he was doing, that's a better lineup than what they had last year with Drew struggling and just Manny and Ortiz in the middle there. Ok but Drew hasnt kept up his hitting, its dropped 20 points sine begining of last month. So far nothing to believe Ortiz will come back strong either, dont even think he is fully healthy. I mean we can agree to disagree, but to me that lineup looks very mediocre now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 11:10 AM) The problem with that line of thinking is...when you consider their DL roster...they basically traded Manny for both Ortiz and Bay, because they just got Ortiz back after either having him in a terrible slump or injured for all but like 2 weeks of the season so far. Well who says Ortiz will get any better, because he was lousy before the injury. Not to mention he said he heard something pop or whatever his last at bat. And why Bay is a nice player and all he just doesnt bring the presence of a Manny. In my opinion that lineup just got a lot easier to go through.
-
Why would you want to send some players down but keep Wasserman up. He has done nothing but stink up the joint this season, might as well have Loaiza rather than him... atleast he could stink it up multiple innings at a time.
-
Should be noted both the Red Sox and Yankees also lost last night, which can be important when it comes to the wildcard. I really think losing Manny will hurt the Redsox and might allow for the AL Wildcard to come out of the Central assuming we right the ship and the Twins stay competitive.
-
Yeah hopefully Richard learns from this experiance and uses it to help him in the future. He can be a good arm out of bullpen in Sept. and possibly challenge for a rotation spot next year, depending on what we do with Contreras/Vazquez.
-
How about taking a flyer at McPherson for first or 3rd.

What player would you most like to have seen play for Sox?
GoodAsGould replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The players Id like to see who play now most in a whitesox uniform are Hanley Ramirez, Grady Sizemore, Nick Markakis, and Johnny Cueto. -
Someone who might be more reasonable than Sheets is a guy like Brad Penny. Personally I think I have had enough of both Vazquez and Contreras and even though both are under contract next year I definitely wouldnt shed any tears if one or both are gone. Penny would be able to fill in the gap for one of them atleast and be a potential ace.
-
This is definitely an important game, I think both for the whitesox. a successful roadtrip(still 1st) and possibly for Richard. I would imagine if he gets rocked around in the 4th/5th inning this will be his last start regardless of Contreras health. Also first time i posted a game thread

7/31 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm CSN)
GoodAsGould replied to joejoesox's topic in 2008 Season in Review
this team is starting to piss me off to the point I dont really want to watch because Im getting upset. I might not even watch series vs Royals. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:09 AM) Stoney thinks maybe Swisher to Oakland for Street? (all speculation on his part, no inside info). I would puke if that happened. Trading 3/5 of your top prospects for a set-up man. UGH. That would be brutal, I would not be a fan of either trade if thats what eventually ended up happening.

Prosecutor's seek to revoke Jamar Smith's probation

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) Cases are decided all the time on the testimony of witnesses and cops make excellent witnesses. A jury or judge would have to decide if, based on the testimony, he was drinking. Cop and other witnesses on one side and other witnesses and Smith on the other. The cop gets on the stand and describes what he saw, heard, and smelled, and I can easily see a conviction. Remember it was zero tolerance. They don't have to prove he was drunk, just that he had a sip. To be fair, the worse kind of evidence is witness evidence. So, if that is all they have in this case I can see Jamar Smith winning the case. -
I hate the Twins and I hate their park. Why couldnt they have been contracted!
-
That gives the Angels 3 huge impending F/A's in Tex, Vlad, and K-Rod. Going to have to spend a lot of money this offseason.
-
I wouldnt mind taking a look at Zaun, Orlando Hudson, and however unlikely Mark Texiera. Like its been said a plenty of times definitely wouldnt mind seeking out a trade for Beltre either. We could dumb Konerko, I know he has a no trade clause but im sure there is some team he would approve. I would also dump Masset.
-
If all it would take is Brandon Allen and Jack Egbert I would be for the trade. Burnett would be able to step in if anyone gets hurt and if nobody is injured he would allow us to skip Danks/Floyd to keep them rested.
-
All I know is that if we are giving up Floyd we better get a stud in return. And I dont consider Duschesier or however you spell it a stud. I also dont think the Jays are going to give up Halladay but he would be one of the few guys Id be good with.
-
To be fair I have never ever been too big of a Konerko fan, something about him never clicked with him. That being said Ill never boo a player on my team unless he shows up the fans or some crap like that.
