Whats in Rice's arsenol... he dominated early as a reliever than seemed to have a rough patch and now has looked pretty good as a SP. He also seems to K a lot so be interesting to know what kind of stuff he has.

"real fans" can be negative... but "real fans" arent jumping on the bandwagon one week and jumping off the next. "Real fans" know that there is a lot of games to be played and overreacting now is pointless. Its ok to be upset at this team, especially with the pitching... the starters and Cotts. But "real fans" dont think the world is ending after every loss to a division rival who we are battling with for the playoffs.

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Wrong, wrong, wrong. the stats show it. The win and loss column show it. Good pitching is the essence of a solid baseball team. Or did you forget last year? The Tigers ARE the better team, plain and simple. Now, have the Sox underachieved? Absofreakin'lutely. But the proof is in the puddin'. It is what it is. Having said that, I want to wipe the floor with those guys in the ALCS, if the Sox get that far. An argument can be made for both teams... Tigers better record in the standings... Whitesox better head to head record and better record against teams with .500 or better records I think. That said even with the recent SP struggles the Tigers have at least 2 starters they can count on Verlander/Bonderman while we are only with Garland.

what actually really was going on there?

I guess it could be interesting... never really paid attention to the show though.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) I actually liked M:I3 I thought it was kind of crap and of the 3 was easily the worse... which in my mind probably had more to due with less profit than cruise's image.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Him and Brian Anderson have been very similar this season (well not in thier numbers but in when they've hit better). It just shows the kind of patience you need to have with rookie hitters if they don't succeed immediately at the major league level. lol Markakis has shown a lot more than Brian Anderson has though... he didnt start off as bad to begin with and after adjusting has hit even better than Anderson has with his. In the future I think Markakis will be a higher avg. hitter but I think Anderson has a lot of power potential. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) How do you know you aren't on any list? She didn't know she was on one until the 5th time she was stopped and asked. It's random. Ask. It's better to be informed than to be ignorant. I dont think Im the one being ignorant in this situation... but im just going to leave the argument at that and not respond to anything more on this thread. And I have asked why I continually get pulled to the side everytime I travel and the lady said just coincidence.... so...

lack of power is the main different.... Besides Mourneu for them to score they have to stack a bunch of hits together plus bunts.... for us its hit the longball put a 3 spot on the board.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) You're still missing the big picture, though. Wins are a team statistic. I can't reiterate that enough. Your typical casual fan will look at a W/L record first and foremost to assess a pitcher's value, when that spiff really ain't spiff. I'm not referring to you in particular. I'm just saying, in general. And if you really think about it, that is the same card that dumbass Kyle Orton fans used to play. We're talking about different sports, but the same concept applies. Teams win games, not individuals. And if Jon Garland is an ace, then I'll be a monkey's uncle. Thats not really true at all. Baseball is a lot more of an individual game than football is. A pitcher cant do it all himself but he has a lot more control over a game than a QB does.

Im not on any list.... And you people are blind if you dont think people whose skin is brown dont get looked at more cautiosly(I know I didnt spell right) at airports than people who are white.
-
I dont expect him to be a stud but he is a better prospect than most people seem to admit.
-
QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 23, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) The color of your skin? I wonder then why I've been pulled to the side and had my stuff gone through. Huh? Must be my red hair. They think I'm a Communist. GMAFB! Im sorry but when you travel a lot like myself... and everytime you get pulled to the side... I think it has something to do w/ the color of my skin. Especially since a few of those times I was with groups of many ethnicities and im the only one pulled aside.

WTF is wrong with Jays' manager Gibbons?
GoodAsGould replied to Big Hurtin's topic in The Diamond Club
So he challenges one player to a fight, actually fights another player, and the teams star position player is unhappy playing there. I think its time they have made some changes with the team.... starting with the manager. -
In reality... whoever is out shouldnt be on this message board or watching the sox anyways.

Arizona Fall League rosters announced

Whose Dewon Day.... never heard of him before? -
This is getting ridiculous....Im all for added safety pre-cautions after 9/11 but it has to stop somewhere... they are restricting some of the most idiotic stuff. Not 2 mention now the door to the pilots is locked so any terrorist wouldnt be able to break in and now that people know what the terrorist would plan to do they wouldnt let them take over the plane anyways. Also the United States is the worse.... I always have to go to the side and be seperately scanned and have my s*** gone through just because the color of my skin. I get back from China with a tour group there are mexicans, asian, russian people.... but yep Im the only one dragged to the side even though I have lived my entire life in America... Not 2 mention my little cousin who was 1-2 years old at the time couldnt get a visa to come to America because he had the same name as a terrorist....Its just beyond ridiculous....
-
Im always in as long as we are leading or relatively close...... but that doesnt mean im not fed up with this team because I am.. I think I need to not watch for a couple weeks because the whitesox are the one thing besides my parents that can really piss me off.
-
Ive heard the Cubs connect to both Carlos Lee and Soriano... that would be something else if they ended up signing both. Add those two into a mix with Derek Lee and Ramirez.. not 2 mention a plus hitting catcher in Barrett and they could have a pretty nasty lineup.
-
Whisler was dominating the first 5 innings of the game I think only gave up 1 walk. Than something must of happened whether it being an error that messed him up or just fatigue. But with how he threw the first 5 im fairly happy with the outing.
-
QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) Our own manager and players didn't hold out hope for a victory. The game was lost before we walked on the field. KC knocked him around a little, why couldn't we? What are you talking about? We were making quality ab's vs Santana to begin the game even hitting some liners that were unfortunately right at people... And Vazquez was great until Konerko's error than it went way down the s***hole.
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 05:14 PM) very true which is why teams like the Dodgers and Cardinals are still legitimate threats even though they shouldn't be I think the Cardinals are going to get bumped from the first round....
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 06:48 AM) LOL. You were hating on him hard when he was struggling. The only people around here that stuck with him were me, Jason, and Dbaho. Dont leave me out. I know our names our similar but im not associated with his hating and Ive always backed Garland

Didnt know Cassel got promoted especially all the way to High A. Even if he gets pounded Im not 2 worried because I think it will probably help him going into next season seeing this better competition.

I can see Crisp hitting upper .290's-.300 range with an OBP in the .340 range. But his SB percentage is pretty much crap... career wise 70 SB with 33 CS which I dont care much much for and he will give you some HR's but nothing special. I wouldnt be against him leading off for us but Id be against a trade of Freddy Garcia straight up for Coco Crisp.
