  1. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) you guys are all right. uribe is better than miles, therefore, kenny williams rules. best gm ever. it seems like everyone with under 100 posts now-a-days is an idiot
  2. QUOTE(ARow33 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) kENNY SAID HES ONLY GOING TO MAE A TRADE THAT HELPS THE SHORT TERM AS WELL AS LONG TERM. Its not what Kenny says it is what Anthrax says
  3. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) Its on WSI. Do the math. just because most people there seem to think the world is over after a white sox loss doesnt mean their information isnt as good as the information on this site. Remember we are all sox fans
  4. I think he should be promoted to AAA soon and than next season compete with Gload for the 1B job.
  5. is this the kid that was the four star recruit? Sorry i dont know much about college football..
  6. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) Aaron Miles is such a fantastic player... A firehydrant has better range, and last I checked, we didn't need a 2B, we need a SS to be a successor to Jose... Nobody plays harder than Uribe and he's VERy solid with the glove. We didn't need Kip and Fogg because they SUCKED MY NUTS. They are mediocre pitchers in the NL for a team that can't field a .500 club for the life of them. They would not have contributed. Ritchie didn't turn out like we hoped, but Fogg and Wells wouldn't have done a damned thing in Chicago, so what's the difference? Well dont go that far, Kip is a good solid pitcher and Id take him on our pitching staff any day of the week, as for Fogg well he hasnt turned out that well... but one thing i read about him he is a lot more dominant the first 3 innings than his last 3 innings. So that sounds like the making of a good RP.
  7. Huff would cost 2 much in terms of prospects I think for us, regardless of what you all think it is true that Willy Mo Pena is on the trading block because like said earlier the surplus of OF's they have and I wouldnt mind him(but with Dye turning things around might be pointless) I think are best option would be Randa which we could require right now, Mackowiack would be nice too but right now the pirates are playing good baseball and wont get rid of him until they are way way out of it.
  8. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) Uribe? Yeah, no way Aaron Miles could match his monster stats. And if you're really going to base Kenny's greatness on four middle relief guys, i'd like to buy some of that dope you are smoking. especially when you say we didn't need kip wells and josh fogg (two starters) yet we traded them for a STARTER. so exactly how didn't we need them? And if Kenny is so great, how come we haven't made the postseason in the s***ty central since the Nixon administration? Well Josh Fogg is a bad starter in the NL so i dont know why your so upset about losing him. And the point is he has become a better GM as time has passed, also Aaron Miles is totally a product of Coors Field and he cant play SS anyways and id much rather have Iguchi. As for the post-season, well last year when your 2 best hitters go down for over half the season and your an offensive team, what did you expect? Not 2 mention no one thought Loaiza would be good as his 2003 form but to predict he would totally suck was impossible. In 2003 Buehrle and Konerko played like garbage for a whole part of the season and we were in it till the end. and now in 2005 we are the best team in the majors, so heres a clue... shutup and watch this team play.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Harold Baines helps with the hitting as well, dont forget about Rock Raines either. You have several VERY good hitting coaches helping out the players. well it doesnt seem to be working
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Rowand has always given full credit to Walker for fixing his hand position from up high where the used to be. He also credited Walker for helping him get going again when he got demoted to AAA for a while. well I didnt know that, and Rowand is one of our guys thats most successful when hitting to all fields...although id still like it if we had 2 hitting coaches... 2 many guys for 1 person to handle.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) Apparently Greg walker is the only reason why Joe Crede is a pull hitter, and our averages are down. There is no other reason for it I guess. No other factors influence hitters, no other coaches and certainly not the players themselves. Walker tried his best to stop the break out season of A-row and his recent success at the plate. He tried desperately to stop such hitting streaks by CLEE, Kong, A-row, Gooch. Nothing makes Walker more frustrated that Dye's recent improvements at the plate including hitting the ball the other way and more plate discipline. Walker is trying extremely hard to get SPODS to see less pitches at the plate, and he is continuing his life long goal of bringing Frank Thomas's OBP to under .300. :headshake actually After Clee's hitting streak Walker went up to him and showed him how to add some more power to his swing... Arow, Kong, and Gooch I think dont use Walker too much. Rowand works out all season long and im certain he has a personal trainer that he works all that stuff out with, Konerko changes his swing by himself it seems every other game and i doubt Walker is involved with that and Gooch is using his same swing from Japan thank god. Now Walker might of worked with SPod and if so he has done an awesome job but really the only guy we know that Walker has worked the most with is Crede and he has been one of our worse hitters along with Uribe.... Although a hitting coach can only do so much and really he prob has little to do with overall teams success.... I rather us hire 2 hitting coaches... Walker would be the power one and than get a guy that teaches the hitters to use all parts of the field and everything.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Without the green, you are correct sir. But if Boyer or somebody like Wilder or whomever from the Sox did read the site, they might refer to it as juniorhighsoxtalk.com . I get the humor and the frustration and all that, but IMO most of this Timo-is-Ozzie's-boyfriend innuendo is stupid and lame. I try to avoid all the Timo discussion but lo and behold here is a thread about Iguchi's back and sure enough it turns into bash Timo Perez. Maybe it makes you guys feel better to say it over and over a thousand times; similarly maybe it makes me feel better to say how dumb and repeptitive it is IMO. It is the same 3-4 guys who feel the need to beat it to death. We get the point already. I actually hate it too, I also hate how people call Dye, Dead... and Cotts well there is like 2 or 3 nicknames people call him....Its just so dumb and really immature not 2 mention all Eat s*** stuff that goes on.....
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Maybe so. But it's been one hell of a lot longer than one week with this Timo stuff. Some of you guys must think Williams and Guillen are reading this board and proceeding accordingly, based on how many times some of you post the same sentiment over and over and over. Anyways. Are you saying sox management doesnt read fan message boards and care what we think about Timo??? 2,000 posts wasted
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Harris was a bad example, but I was sort of leaning towards (with Garland and Cotts) that we basically developed these guys ourselves... Didnt we develop Carlos Lee and Magglio Ordonez too.... both great players.. and than there is Kip Wells and Josh Fogg too.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 06:24 AM) Take a look back to last year about what i thought about him when people wanted his head every other game. actually more people seemed to like Cotts last year when he was worse than they did this year :banghead
  16. This is where a guy like Willie really becomes useful..... I think he can get it done and at the worse we get some awesome defense at 2B.
  17. If his fastball was indeed at 90 mph that would be awesome... Id like to see if its still at 90 his next start though b4 i get 2 excited.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) Yes, he said it today on the Score on Mike North's show and went on about how unfaitful and loyal the Bulls were and talked about how it was going on since February. Why are you making s*** up? All he did was praise the bulls even though North was giving him s*** the whole interview. He also said he would coach the bulls if his option got picked up. He said JR and Paxson were good people too... maybe you heard a different interview or made one up?
  19. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:22 AM) Me and DBAHO were first in this Neal Cotts is the s*** club for the record. Not really, plenty of posters have been sticking up for him all season, just been plenty more hating on him... I have always been high on him though...
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) Wow -- the two inning save? Real impressive. And a sinker at 94? Filthy. Jenks sounds a lot like francisco cordero. Both are fat too
  21. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 03:46 AM) Completion of suspended game Barons 14 Tennessee 3 W- Pollok L- Bass Lots of hitting stars first Rogo who was 4-5 RBI and 3 runs scored. Andy Gonzalez was 3-4 a long homerun off the tent in LF. Andy also had 3 RBI in the game. Darren Blakely had a 3-4 game with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Josh Fields also hit a long homerun to center his 4th in 3 games. Not to be lost was Dwayne Pollok throwing 4 shutout innings. It seems like that andy gonzalez dude has been hitting really well, how does he look and do you think he has what it takes to be a good major leaguer? Also damn did Josh Fields change his swing or something because he has been on fire.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Who is he, I don't have a freaking clue. He look, He look it like a man its been a long time since ive seen Mad TV i might of said that wrong.
  23. well I really meant to respond to the Robin_Ventura guy... yours was just the last one I read lol
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) The Sox need depth at catcher. As mentioned, way too soon to tell on Lucy. Also too soon to tell on Francisco Hernandez who was rated high by many here and also by BA in their prospect write up. He is scuffling with the bat at Kannapolis right now. There are very few other catching prospects in the Sox org. - mostly just minor league guys who are filling spots. That's why I for one wanted them to beef that spot up. But I suppose if you have a lot of pitching you can always make trades. In my opinion drafting a catcher is a crapshoot mostly, unless a guy had godly talent like Joe Mauer I dont see a reason to draft one because they have to have the lowest rate of success of any position.
