  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) I cannot envision any scenario in which they win both games, and I think it would be a surprise if they win either of them. Wow, I have no idea where your coming from... I think we can easily win both games as well as lose both, Pittsburgh has a very shaky secondary without palamalu and seattle really isnt all that good.
  2. UFC fight night and than the ultimate fighter going on tonight, should be interesting with Kimbo.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 01:28 PM) To me the thing people aren't talking about is Armando Allen being out. Hughes isn't going to get you that first down and the way the Defense had been playing I agree with the concept you play to win. I would have liked to see some more high percentage passes on those plays though. I still want to know how ND's TD and the Raiders TD (unrelated) for that matter were over-turned cause both of those replay rulings were horse-s***. Neither play had any sort of obvious evidence that warranted the plays to be over-turned. In the 3rd quarter they showed a replay in the Raiders game where the ball clearly came out after hitting the ground, I do agree on initial replays you definitely could not tell.
  4. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 12:32 AM) Oakland defensive coaches are just retarded, having the LB's drop back 10 yards and give up the under everytime. Yeah, why would you do anything different from what they have all game long that has been very effective. The only difference is Id tell the safeties not to get beat deep.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) I've bashed Darryl Drake before, but this isn't on him. These WRs (except Hester) really suck. It's frightening. Eh, Bennett started slowly but he had a decent game, Cutler just needs to look at Olsen/Hester/Forte more often and Bennet as a 2nd or 3rd option. Knox can be good if he is used properly, he shouldnt be running slants right now, that we can leave to iglesias or davis.
  6. anyone know where i can watch games online, down in carbondale im stuck seeing the rams/seahawks on tv.
  7. Whatever the case, if Rios/Beckham/Quentin can start hitting or atleast 2 of the 3 and Peavy is truly ready, this division race might have just gotten a little more interesting.
  8. I have to admit I had given up hope and Im still not quite on the bandwagon, but it is pretty cool that we now control our own destiny in a sense....
  9. well Iowa gets lucky, but im a big ten fan so glad they pulled it out.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 01:18 PM) Damn, McNutt dropped what would have been a big 1st down conversion and than some. Very Costly, than the missed field goal. UNI still leading. Watching this Iowa game, how the hell are they ranked?
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 05:18 AM) 0.41 ERA, 0.27 WHIP, 0.96 BAA, 8 HLD, 2 SV, 22 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 28 SO, 0.41 BB/9, 11.45 K9. Those are his numbers since his call-up. He's been the filthiest RP in baseball since then. His stuff is so good you can't even describe it. He's projected to be a starter, but he's been so good in his role they might have to leave him there. The Braves really dropped the ball on that Teixeira trade (and the return they got when they traded him to the Angels was absolutely terrible). Imagine Feliz paired up with Tommy Hanson right now? Not to mention Elvis Andrus. These are the kinds of trades that can set franchises back for years. Not trading away guys like Brandon Allen and Nick Swisher. lol. Edit: I see I spelled his first name wrong. Can a mod please fix? To be fair, if I remember right Tex was a monster for them at least the season he was acquired. I do agree on the return they got on Tex when trading him was rather pathetic.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 07:55 AM) Who said they didn't have a chance? They could go 14-2 and win the whole thing. I'm just saying that going into the season that this team has A LOT of legitimate concerns. And for me, last year means nothing. We're playing a brand new schedule (except for the teams we play in our division, obviously). Different players, coaches, systems, ect, ect, ect. The NFL is easily the most unpredictable of the 4 major sports (I guess hockey is a sport). Right, but our schedule this year is easier than last, we have upgraded the team, and upgraded the coaching staff. So, to predict a record worse than last year, which we very easily could have won 10-11 games is a bit baffling.
  13. Our defense has looked very good this pre-season, I think with an offense that has the ability to sustain long drives we will see a revived defensive unit also under the playcalling of Lovie Smith. The good thing about the cover 2 is it doesnt require the corners to be super talented although I think when Bowman/Tillman are healthy, we are pretty solid.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) Season ticket holders on bad teams are die-hard fans, but than there is another whole group that will buy more when its a fun event and a ticket you can always hand out, etc. Right, but this season is going to look like a failure either way and a lot of those season ticket holders arent going to show up for most of the remaining home games anyhow. So, I dont see how we finish this season has any relevance to next years tickets unless we make a cleveland in 05 like run for the division which isnt happening.
  15. I dont think the difference between a 70 win and an 80 win season is going to have a large impact on tickets next season. Season ticket holders are usually die hard fans and a 10 win difference from last season isnt going to matter for them renewing their tickets or not and as far as everyone else, if we win the fans will show up, the first month is going to be kinda slow regardless.
  16. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) Here's my squad. What do you guys think? 12 man league. QB, 2 RB's, 2 WR's, TE, 1RB/WR, 1OP, Team Def, 1DE, 1DL, 2LB's, 2CB's, S, K QB - Aaron Rodgers, Matt Cassel, Trent Edwards, Daunte Culpepper RB - Michael Turner, Brian Westbrook, Tim Hightower, Shonn Greene WR - Greg Jennings, Eddie Royal, DeSean Jackson, Devin Hester, Hakeem Nicks, Chris Henry TE - Tony Scheffler, Brent Celek TeamDEF - Carolina Panthers DE - Dwight Freeney DL - Luis Castillo LB - DeMarcus Ware, Patrick Willis CB - Fred Bennet, Anthony Henry S - Gibril Wilson K - Rob Bironas What do you guys think? It's an ESPN league. Why would you draft 4 QB's?
  17. The KO of the night has to go to Todd Duffee no? Broke the UFC record with a 6 or 7 second knockout. Guy looked pretty big too, I wouldnt mind seeing him matched up against Gonzaga since both had relatively easy fights and can get back in the octagon soon.
  18. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Romo definitely a tier below? GMAFB. Rivers also only has one 30+ TD season as well & only thrown only 4,000 once...Oh, but he's better right? Palehosefan already made my point for me about Ben. Actually, I'm a Cowboys fan. Just because Rivers had a really good year last year, it doesn't all of a sudden shoot him up to top 5 in the league. Do it again, then we can talk. And you do? So the Cowboys fan thinks Romo is as good as Rivers and the Steelers fan thinks Big Ben is better than Rivers, while the rest seemingly disagree... interesting eh?
  19. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) 1. Peyton Manning 2. Tom Brady 3. Drew Brees 4. Kurt Warner 5. Ben Roethlisberger 6. Donovan McNabb 7. Romo/Rivers/Cutler You cant honestly think Kurt Warner and Ben Roethlisberger are better QB's than Rivers. Also Romo is definitely a tier below him without a doubt. I can see someone making a case for Brady and D-Mac being better, but that still puts Rivers in the top5.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 22, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) That bolded part isn't unpopular at all. At least among people who matter. Thats a bit extreme, and I dont have anything against adoption, if im financially sound and have a kid or two of my own might even look into it. But, there is a difference between having a kid of your own and adopting one. Not to say I wouldnt love them both equally as possible if i had one of each but just saying there is a difference.
  21. Half Pakistani quarter German and quarter Italian.
  22. Well Im down here now, if any fellow soxtalkers want to hang out let me know.
  23. QUOTE (IITsox @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 11:35 PM) If it gets messed up and becomes irreversible, they can always adopt. I don't think anyone has ever died of a vasectomy. Of course in your scenario only people responsible and that wanted too would have kids, so adopting wouldnt really be an option. How f***ed up would it be is the only reason you cant have your own kids is because as a child you were forced into a vasectomy?
  24. Hey I'm transferring to SIU-C and I know a couple of soxtalkers either go there now or have in the past. So, just asking anything I should know before heading down there and what are the good hang out places, bars, etc.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) Ebert's take on Basterds. I think the movie is a bit too long, and some parts were just weird/akward but overall a really enjoyable movie.
