  1. Just announced on ESPN first and 10
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 08:56 AM) You homer. He's tested positive twice. He's lying like everyone else who gets caught using PEDs. Right but atleast in this case it seems like was just over the counter stuff...
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) Just wondering...Kerry Wood. How does a closer with a 4.97 ERA have even as many as 15 Saves? It's boggling my mind. Brad lidge has 21 saves with an era approaching 7.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) Neftali Feliz made his ML debut last night. 2 IP, 0's across the board with 4 K's. I've tracked him for a while now. Saw him actually pitch for the first time in the Futures game. What he did to the A's last night was pretty criminal. His stuff is as good as advertised. Fastball routinely hit 99-101 MPH. A sick power change at 90-91 MPH. I know he has a solid curve as well. I guess they're gonna start him out in the 'pen with the idea of making him a starter next year. For all the talk of how awful the Bedard trade was, you don't hear as much about how the Rangers completely swindled the Braves in dealing Teixeira for Feliz, Andrus, ect. Prob has something to do with he was pretty sick for the braves for the 50 or so games they had him that season and they were able to trade him next season to the Angels. Although I do agree the Rangers got a pretty sick haul for Teix. I am surprised how weak of a package the Braves got for Teix when they traded him.
  5. QUOTE (Voros @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 06:25 AM) It's a shame about the Boras thing because I think a guy like Ankiel would be a better fit than Figgins (you just need a competent backup). He should come pretty cheap and there's a decent upside. Good fielder. Crisp does nothing for me. Crawford is going to be very expensive. Depending on price you could do worse than someone like Marlon Byrd, I suppose. A Mike Cameron return seems a little unlikely, but who knows. The CF free agent class looks thin to me. Here's my oddball, no chance of happening lineup: 1B = Nick Johnson 3B = Beckham LF = Quentin RF = Dye DH = Konerko CF = Rick Ankiel SS = Ramirez C = Pierzynski 2B = Getz You improve the defense with both changes and improve the offense with one of them. A lot of folks won't like Johnson as a leadoff hitter, so if needs be you can always put Getz there and shift everyone down a spot. The two added players both should come in pretty cheap thanks to injuries and a fairly subtle set of skills. You can replace Ankiel with Byrd if you think there's no way we sign a Boras free agent. That actually wouldnt be a half bad idea in adding Nick Johnson, I think the better move would be to sign Byrd or Crisp if he is available for CF but all 3 of those players are relatively cheap and would help us. Id probably leadoff Getz but besides that I like this idea.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) Palehose, that's great and all but you have to realize your first choice in Figgins is going to need a multi-year deal. Are we really going to need him that much in year 2 of his deal? Years 3 or 4? I just don't think that length of contract fits into our plans... The thing about Figgins is he can play all over the field, So even if he is signed for 3-4 years we should be able to find a spot somewhere to put him.
  7. Will we ever have a legit backup catcher?? Maybe we can keep AJ for a year or 2 to backup Flowers.
  8. Yeah not exactly sure the purpose of Randy Williams on this team is.... there is a reason he hasnt been in the majors since 05. Has to be someone in the minors who can come up and put up better results.
  9. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) Based on Ozzie's previous comments to go along with this one from Hahn...I would say absolutely. I still think long run Getz becomes a utility guy, especially if Viciedo can progress at 3B defensively. Next season it would all depend on what f/a's are available and in our price range.
  10. I know what Ozzie said but I think next season Getz would make a great utility guy and have Beckham at 2B. Now, if Getz keeps up his 2nd half hitting like he is now maybe that changes. For 3B I think Figgins is obviously going to be the guy KW looks at first if possible, a fall back plan could be Melvin Mora or if the money is right Adrian Beltre. I think this is the last season of Thome and resigning Dye to be DH would be a pretty good idea if the money is right. While Crawford is a nice dream I dont see how the Rays let him go and Danks probably isnt read for the bigs so maybe make a run at Bay/Abreu/Vlad and resign Pods is our best bet.
  11. Well to be fair he was praised as a stud defensively at 2B, if Alexi is going to be out much longer we need lillibridge back.
  12. Mark Teixeira always seemingly turns into an unstoppable force in the 2nd half of the season, I wish he went to his hometown Orioles or even better the Nationals than the Yankees, would be easier to root for him.
  13. Burnett's stuff looks pretty sharp today but so far we have been able to hit him some. Would be nice to score some runs here.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) plus they were saying on MLB that he loves Seattle and will try to re-sign there after the season. He's a rental that could help them reach the post season. There were reports saying Freddy Garcia was going to do the same after we traded for him.... I would be surprised if he went back to Seattle.
  15. I have 1 dollar tickets so Ill be there tuesday, that will probably be the toughest game of the series for us so hopefully Contreras is up for it.
  16. I don't think Hudson will start next season in the rotation, if I had a guess I think Carlos Torres and Lucas Harrell will battle it out for the last spot while Hudson gets some seasoning in AAA. Assuming they struggle an Hudson is doing well in Charlotte he would probably be the first to get the call though.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) But one of those years he was a 20 win ace for a WS champion. That tips the scales just a tad. That same season Hanley hit .332 with 48 doubles, 29 HR's and 51 SB....I think Florida won that trade, but really both teams are winners.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) Somebody said that the deal was packaged around LaRoche. I'm just responding to that. Im thinking they meant LaRoche might be included in the deal.

  21. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) So I got summoned to appear downtown tomorrow to sign up for a week to do jury duty. I'm 21, just voted for the 1st time in November, and already got a summons? How unlucky is that? At least I'm a student out of town, so I'm pretty certain they'll let me out of it. But, a pain nonetheless to have to go downtown for a couple hours just to tell them I can't do it. You could have called and explained your situation and not waste your time driving out.
  22. I used to always think Erin Andrews was a bit over-rated, but after seeing her naked I have jumped fully on the bandwagon That being said, it did weird me out a little with how it was done....I do hope somehow the guy who did it is caught.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) How many pitchers have thrown to the minimum twice in their career? I dont know if this was responded too earlier but isnt this the 3rd time Buehrle has faced the minimum. I could of swore against the tribe he only allowed 2 baserunners both that got out on double plays. That was also the first game Grady Sizemore ever played in if my memory is right.
  24. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 06:08 PM) Same thing as an astronaut or a firefighter. We raced Russia to the moon and ESPN the ocho sometimes shows fireman games. Are those sports too? Not true, we raced Russia to space and lost.... the race to the moon was completely made up by our government.
