  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) I think Crow would be a great pick for them, especially with them wanting to make the big splash during the international signing period. I'd back that move from the Pirates perspective. I think because of money the Pirates definitely pass on Crow, which means he probably goes to Baltimore. Baltimore has the chance to be scary good in the near future in that scenario, They already have 3 of the better pitching prospects in baseball and Crow would jump right into that mix. That entire division is just going to be ridiculous.
  2. Id give Fields another month to hopefully straighten things out, warmer weather and less pressure at the bottom of the lineup will hopefully help him. If after that month no improvement by Josh and Beckham is still wacking the ball around in AAA, I think a change has to be made.
  3. Not too mention after a couple rough starts, Cliff Lee is also having a very good season this year too, era in low 3's and can very easily get into the 2's with a couple of good starts.

  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) If you can't get good enough grades or SATs on our own to get into Memphis, you are dumb. Or just a poor tester? With his highschool gpa he needed a score of 900 plus to be elgible for division 1 schools, some of the smartest people i know are horrible test takers for one reason or another.
  7. I think Lebron's fate will go with his team's success, if the Cavs dont win a championship this year or next I think he will bolt. My bet would be on the Knicks/Nets though with Chicago 3rd.
  8. Its first couple of seasons I hated King of the Hill, but than I realized its greatness and was my favorite animated show for awhile.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) Smoak and Wallace won't see the majors this year. And they're not being asked to learn a new position. Zimmerman has been an exception. But the point remains. Even the very best prospects spend at least one full season in the minors. This is nothing but an overreaction to the suckfest that has been Josh Fields. If someone is ready than they are ready, and I wouldnt be so sure on Wallace/Smoak, they could be an injury away from getting the call up. You are the one over-reacting to everything, Beckham if he does reach the majors is still atleast 1-2 months away so that would be pretty close to a season in the minors.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2009 -> 12:32 AM) Jay Bruce spent 4 seasons in the minors (353 games) before getting the call. Evan Longoria spent 3 seasons in the minors (205 games) before getting the call. Even Matt Wieters, a guy that most scouts believe will be better than this guy named Joe Mauer, spent a full season and 40 games in the minors before his highly anticipated callup Friday. Gordon Beckham? A whopping 50 games and we've already decided to bump him to AAA with the obvious intention of calling him up probably sometime in the next few weeks. Oh, yeah, he gets to learn a brand new position, too! f***ing pathetic! How about Ryan Zimmerman?? Or how about fellow draftees who will be in AAA too in Smoak and Wallace.
  11. If we could shed Deng's contract and get rid of Hinrich, we will definitely be in great shape for the 2010 off-season....Im all for the trade.
  12. Exercise plenty and implement some whey protein into your diet and you be fine.
  13. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 24, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) If the Blackhawks can tie it up today, they'll have a legit shot at beating the Red Wings in this series...man oh man, gonna be a great game today,Go Hawks!!! This will definitely be a huge game in how this series plays out, missing Havlat and Bulin, if Blackhawks win today got the momentum of 2 in a row and possibly the lineup boost with both those guys returning for game 5.
  14. Anyone know where i can get a free stream of it to watch??
  15. The wave was going around the stadium for like the 6th-7th innings but besides that the game was pretty incredible, lot of fans and Richard looked great out there.
  16. Sounds like a future 1B/LF, but I do think he has a special bat and hopefully the hot stretch he is on now continues. Btw, Soxfan1 you been great with the AAP's lately, much appreciated. even if your name is a blatant rip off of mine
  17. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 23, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) ^^Seriously, that's the first time I've ever heard anyone complain about that Really?? Ive heard it mentioned about 1000 times.....It is a pretty dumb rule, one of the things college has over the pro sport.
  18. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) Until any member of that trade is in the team picture it is a bust of a trade considering what is being run out there by the Sox right now related to their rotation. Vazquez only flaw was not living up to the hype. I dont understand that, Vazquez was a liability 2 seasons he was here, sure he gave us innings but he was horrible and getting paid to be a front line starter. I bet by the end of this season, Vazquez has an era in the 4's again in the NL.
  19. Im not mad at Jake Peavy, for one I dont think this is the season we should be looking to upgrade the team. Two, while looking at it through an outside perspective it's easy to say how can Peavy be so greedy, but hell I'd want 22 million guaranteed too, all about the benjamins..... Even though Id like to think I would give a hometown discount to the sox given me being such a fan.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 21, 2009 -> 06:05 PM) Perhaps it was predictable, but I'd hardly call nuclear annihilation of human civilization corny. [Just making sure were both talking about T3 here and not Salvation, because that is the ending Thunderbolt and I were referencing - but reading your post you may be talking about Salvation]. There were only ever two possible endings — they either changed the future and prevented Judgement Day or they didn't. For me the cornier, easier ending by far would have been humanity triumphing. We've known from the outset of the franchise that Judgement Day has to occur at some point along the temporal continuity or the events of the earlier films wouldn't have happened. The T3 storyline decided to depict that continuity (and set the stage for machines vs. human resistance sequels which I've been wating for ever since despite the early bad reviews of the new one). My mistake, I was talking about the newest one, yeah T3 didnt get great reviews but I actually enjoyed it.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 20, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) Agreed. The ending was was what redeemed the film, and set the stage for what I hoped were great post-apocalyptic things to come for the franchise. I've just got to not let the negative reviews sway me entirely before I see the new one for myself. Really?? I thought the ending was incredibly corny and predictable. I enjoyed all the action scenes and what not, but overall very dissapointing movie and Bale did not do a good job at all.
  22. I have 4 tickets to saturday's game but cant make it, is it possible for me to call them and change the date to a game I can or am I pretty much out of luck?
  23. Any chance we look at Tanner Scheppers with our first pick?
  24. In past drafts I picked a guy I really wanted, last draft it was Jordan Danks a couple years before that it was Shelby jr. This is the guy Im hoping we take with our 2nd or 3rd pick this season. I actually wouldnt be against drafting 2 catchers relatively early, this seems like the draft to do that.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) fairweatherness? No, it originated in NY newspapers around the time of the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Its a reference to loud, bombastic politicans in Chicago. Wind bags, if you will. Considering the Cubs/Bulls/Bears have been pretty crappy for the majority of the time, and all 3 have some of the biggest fanbases in their sports.... how is Chicago a fairweather city?
