  1. We all know most likely after a month or so if DeWayne Wise sucks, the next call up is going to be Jerry Owens who will take over leadoff duties.
  2. So would they all join Dupage County than or whats the deal.
  3. Pretty awesome, I told my friend b4 the game that Wise is worse than Fukudome, I think Thome will have a great season, and expect Richard to be awesome in the bullpen. So far, pretty accurate
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) I don't see what Josh Fields did today that Crede cannot. I'm not trying to start a war or anything, and I like Fields at 3B now that he's healthy. Also, Quentin's swing seemed a bit long. Fields has a quicker swing it seems like. I really really like Getz as well. When have you ever seen Crede bunt for a hit like Fields did? Also, while Crede is obviously the superior defensive 3B, I dont think he makes the play to get the out at home like Fields was able too.
  5. How is that a wild pitch, i put all the blame on AJ there.
  6. The coaches just need to work on baserunning for an entire month, this is ridiculous.
  7. How long does Dewayne Wise keep his spot in the lineup, its pretty pathetic watching him.
  8. The ump has looked like he widened the strike zone this inning, or maybe thats just me.
  9. All things considering only giving up 1 run there is a success, woulda been sweet if we were able to turn the double play though. Defense looked pretty good that inning.
  10. this pretty much sucks, now going to be in school and miss opening day......
  11. Yeah, if you cant stay in the Rangers pitching staff, it might be time to retire.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) If that is the case with Rose, f*** him. The guy is making millions of dollars as a #1 pick. If it takes a coach kissing his ass to make him play defense, screw him. Yeah, if thats your attitude about it you might as well not watch the NBA, most superstars cant be bothered to play defense, especially when they are in their early years.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 07:44 PM) No. Maybe, I thought Ruben Brown was done when we got him and he lasted longer than expected. And Pace is a far superior athlete, just got to hope for health.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 08:18 AM) Gotta disagree with you here. Ross had far better range than most others at 1B, stretched better than most, made few errors (upper half FPct over the years among 1B), and could throw pretty well. He doesn't do the scoop as well as PK, but then neither do most. Not sure what else you want from a 1B on defense. I think he meant because of his offense he sucks as a 1B, Gload has very little power and 1B being a huge power position and all.
  15. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) Nope, all he had was that curve. They were trying to develop a change and add movement to his fastball and I believe even add a cut fastball. The changeup rarely worked and it really wasn't that effective for the most part. As far as learning the other stuff, the Sox just got sick of him. I remember it quite differently, his changeup was his most raw pitch of the 3 but it seemed pretty devastating when he had it working.
  16. I think you are reaching saying there are 10 teams that are competing for Cutler. Id say maybe half that are really the only serious about putting a package together to actually acquire Cutler.
  17. Saw my first blackhawks live today, have to say I came away wanting to see another one. Had really good seats, 3rd row from the front why next to visitors bench. Didnt realize how fast paced the game was, on tv doesnt really look like it. Also the blackhawks flat out dominated the first 2 periods, really sad to lose the shutout at way end but was a great first experiance.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) hey remember when Dontrelle Willis threw 5 1-hit innings against the Sox in his first start of the season last year? Thank god for 7 walks?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) You also prevent your competition from getting that kind of a player for at least a year, plus you still keep the #1 pick in 2010. Like I said in the other thread when this was brought up, this case makes the perfect arguement for why draft picks should be able to be traded. Instead of Washington either having to pass on SS or pick him knowing that they can't sign him, they could put the pick on the auction block and see who comes calling. Could the Yankees or Red Sox be willing to clean out there farm system for this kid? It could very well have meant that Washington would have gotten on its way to recovery quicker with the multiple players someone would potentially pay for the pick, than picking Stausbourg and spending $50,000,000 on him. Id much prefer there just to be a limit on how much these kids can get paid like in the nba.
  20. Well im 22 and prob listen to 670 more lol. I like Mike and Mike but it just seems they are on commercial breaks more than anything else and nobody repeats the same topics over and over in a single broadcast as much as those two. Plus, I like knowing more about the local teams which they obviously dont cover that much.
  21. Ok some of you are missing the point entirely. The fact that she couldnt carry her papers doesnt matter, but it shows that at some points her disease was sooo bad that she couldnt perform simple tasks, because of this its pretty hard to believe she was able to concentrate fully on to her job as well. One fluff article about her wont change my mind, even though given the circumstances she apparently did an ok job.
  22. Yeah Im a bit confused, Fields has obviously been better than Viciedo in spring training, your comparing Viciedo to other athletes who one dont play the same position and 2 going to be on the bench. What good would Viciedo do sitting on the bench for the far majority of the season?
  23. QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) One more time. Players do not change too much. You are who you are. I have read several times that Cora was working miracles in Miami with Fields. I never bought into that. If your defense has been shaky all your life, you will be sorry with the glove until you retire. If you are a good fastball hitter in the minors, you will be able to hit fastballs in the majors. If you are lazy in the minors, you will be lazy in the majors. If you have personality problems, you will have those all your life. What makes me mad is the following. If the Sox gurus have doubts about Fields at 3B, then tell him that and move him to another base or DH immediately. Maybe for Viciedo is too early to tell. The Sox do not have had the time to evaluate Viciedo fully. But if there are some doubts about him at 3B, tell him that and move him to another position very soon. Why wasting so much time and resources on failing projects? This couldnt be more wrong. For one, there are plenty of athletes who have come up poor defensively and transformed themselves into avg. or above avg. defenders. Obviously part of it is god given talent and athletic ability, but thats only to be an elite defender. Now there are plenty of guys who were lazy in the minors and have changed for the best, bobby jenks is one of them, hell he can go down to refute your personality problems too. Sometimes people just take longer to figure things out.
