  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) I'll take the durability and versatility (as limited as it is) of Wise over Shannon Stewart. Jones is intriguing, but he's a fringe player at this point in his career. He'll get signed to a MLC by some team this year and I'd imagine he'll see time in the majors too. Its easier to stay healthy in a backup role though, Which is only reason why Id consider Stewart. Is it odd that it feels just last season the Twins OF was Shannon Stewart, Jaque Jones, and Torri Hunter all a pain in the whitesox ass.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) Maclin will be long gone by 18. He's going to have an unreal combine which will make dopey owners like Al Davis drool over him. I wouldn't mind Michael Clayton as a FA WR. Huge rookie year but has been inconsistent since. Ask a Bucs fan and they'll tell you he just needs a change of scenery. I wouldnt mind him or Antonio Bryant or the WR from Carolina, who I think probably would be a great compliment to Hester.
  3. there are a couple of names there I wouldnt mind in a backup role. Jacque Jones and Shannon Steward sure would be better than Dewayne Wise.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) For us old timers, it has been weird not having the Rangers in our division for so long now... They do belong in the central, It makes very little sense for them to be considered west coast.
  5. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Here's a good youtube montage of Nicks plays, specifically the last and first play Im sold, Im hoping he falls into 2nd would love an OL and Nicks in first 2 rounds. He would really compliment Hester well. And Hester was pretty damn good for his first season as a WR, with any other QB add 3 TD's and like 200 yards.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) Lillibridge played CF in high school so it isn't really as much a matter to convert him then to just give him a shot to win that job. I really forsee a platoon of Lillibridge/Owens leading off followed be Getz, Its risky but I think given the state of our team makes the best sense.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) IMO, Michigan State is overrated. They barely beat Illinois at home, they lost to Penn State, they got smoked by UNC and Maryland at neutral sites, and they lost to Northwestern at home. I find it very likely that Minnesota beats the Spartans. Lol the fact you find it very likely Minnesota wins is laughable. I think Minnesota definitely has a legit shot but they are definite underdogs.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Andrew Bynum out 8-12 weeks (i.e. the rest of the season) with a torn ACL. Crippling blow to the Lakers title prospects. He had really come on the last 10 days or so. He should be back for the post-season maybe even with a couple of weeks of games to get back into game shape. Than in the west I think Lakers still easily best team so plenty of time for Bynum to get ready for championship.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) There used to be the ol' 5 yard running in to the kicker option, but they recently got rid of that, so that basically, you can't touch the kicker, and even if it is an acting job, you can't touch the kicker. Right which is ridiculous, they are playing the game of football. I understand the kicker/QB needs some protection but just not to the extent they are recieving.
  10. Yeah I really hope they rework the roughing the passer penalty. I do think it is important to protect the QB's of the league, but over the season it gets ridiculous on some of the ticky tack s*** they call it on. Also Id rework roughing the kicker penalty too, half the time you can tell the kicker puts on an act job and its a penalty anyways.

    Films Thread

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) That is being kind. I think its gonna be Van Damme Streetfighter bad Now it might be a bad movie, but streetfighter bad is just hard to do.
  12. I thought it was a forward pass but yeah it was ridiculous it wasnt reviewed. That being said the Cardinals defense only has themselves to blame, let an underwhelming offense beat them up.
  13. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) If the trade ultimately gets the world series trophy, it really doesnt matter that you didnt get the percieved full value. Especially considering the key part that Pods was that year. Right, I dont have a problem with the end result obviously since it led to a WS. But that doesnt mean I cant critique a trade that we did not get fair value in return. Pods was coming off a poor season after a good rookie campaign too, so he wasnt in high demand exactly either. Although Ill also admit Carlos Lee was my favorite player so I was a little moody for a bit after he was traded.
  14. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 07:43 AM) Yeah in a vacuum you might scratch your head at this one, but we know without this trade there we'd still have the second-longest World Series drought fail Nah I still stand by that was a ridiculously bad trade, at that time the economy was fine and carlos lee was a good player, even if the main goal was to dump his salary there had to be much better packages of players available.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Q and Dye both below avg? Dye may be close to that, but Q is avg to above avg in LF. He's always been graded out as a good defender his entire career. Quentin might be above avg in RF, but he was pretty brutal in LF last season and you watched it was very obvious.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) These are some of the weirdest comparisons i have seen in awhile. Alexei and Beltre? Danks and Dejesus? Getz and Young? Just weird. Lol so I guess all of our prospects almost are going to make it to the bigs and be successful. I actually think Mark Grudzelanick is a pretty solid comparison to Getz but with much better defense, and honestly I have no problem with that type of production. If Getz can just walk a little bit more, he is just the type of player we need.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Ok, but he wasn't the same guy as he was in Houston or Boston. The only guy Id say was a true reclamation project was Pablo Ozuna, but Im not really familiar with Chris Sabo either.
  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 04:14 PM) The Hawks just gave Campbell a deal that averages over 7 million a year. If Keith continues this sort of play, he has every reason to ask for more than what Campbell got. I dont follow hockey much but if the economy remains in this state look how it has impacted the baseball free agency, wouldnt be unreasonable for a same effect in hockey especially since baseball is a bigger market.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) I don't think anybody would argue with this. The Illini really don't have a great deal of talent this year, and are still 17-3 and going to make the NCAA Tournament barring disaster. As the calvary arrives the next two years (and the 2011 class is probably going to be fantastic as well), things are going to only get better and better down there. That Mike Davis, Mike Tisdale, and McCamey class is really shaping up to be a lot better than once thought though. Especially if you throw in Legion as part of that group. Chester Frazier has also upped his game greatly.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) No, especially since Oklahoma City is going to get the #1 pick this year. The Chicago hometown kid ended up in Chicago, the Akron boy ended up in Cleveland several years ago, and the local kid from Oklahoma is going to end up with the Thunder. That's just how the NBA does it with their "lottery" (lol). But that could actually make the Thunder a pretty good damn team. Duran, Westbrook and Griffin are a nice core to build around and Jeff Green, Nick Collison, Chris Wilcox, and Nenad Kristic are nice role players. Id also imagine they would be in good shape salary wise to add an impact player, maybe Dwayne Wade.

    Superbowl Food

I just saw this recipe and now its a must for the superbowl, The Bacon Explosion. http://www.bbqaddicts.com/blog/recipes/bacon-explosion/
  22. As long as its only a one time thing I think its hilarious.
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 02:12 AM) Keep an eye on him. I believe he's better than you seem to think he is. I think he could be our left-fielder a couple of years from now. (And the suggestion was not that he would be Soriano... the comment was 'Soriano lite'... which could mean a Bill Hall type player.) Besides Beckham and Danks, without a doubt Shelby is the hitting prospect Im most excited for. Not really in the Brandon Allen camp as of yet.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) Well, who really gives a s*** what Carroll or the scouts think? Is Sanchez the only player in college football history to go pro when others thought he should have stayed longer? Does Urban Meyer turn into a little b**** if Tim Tebow had decided to bolt early? All Pete cares about is what Sanchez leaving does to his chances of winning a national title next year. That is all. Yes im glad you know Pete Carrol personally and know exactly what he thinks. He maybe shouldnt have been so outspoken against Sanchez decision in the public but most coaches grow a connection to the kids they recruit especially the QB, Id think he has atleast some of what would be best for Sanchez himself in his mind too. And Sanchez isnt a grown ass man, he is a 21-22 year old kid who probably has an agent in his ear who without a doubt cares about nothing but money.
  25. If the electric company explained the situation to him and showed/told him how to restart the power if it went out, I have no problem with it.
