I'm not totally against trading Rowand... but it should be for a hell of alot more then just Juan Pierre... Or a pitching prospect... Unless it's a power bat that comes out of him then it's just not worth it... So IMO you can only package Rowand in a deal for either Thome or Delgado...

What about Eurubio Durazo?
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to Steve Bartman's my idol's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Durazo would make a good DH pickup... Just say no to Matt "Fat Ass" LeCroy -
Well the fact that we gave Shingo the boot may hurt our chances... Still i'd give it a go if the price wasn't too high...

Wow... just wow... If you learned to read I said he managed to get on somehow either with a walk or a hit every game in the post season... POST SEASON his OBP wasn't .329... Either way my point was that he is hardly the worst at his position... Average maybe but average isn't "s***ty"... And there was a time that these same baseball Guru's said the same kind of s*** about Corey Patterson and Joe Borchard... where are they today...

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) You have to realize rowand is a s***ty hitter ( he is until he proves 2004 was not a fluke... and i have serious doubts). That is all i want from you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL... you made this way too easy... Aaron Rowand year by year offensively... 2001 Chicago White Sox 63 At bats .293 Avg 2002 Chicago White Sox 126 At bats .258 Avg. 2003 Chicago White Sox 93 At bats .287 Avg. 2004 Chicago White Sox 140 At bats .310 Avg. 2005 Chicago White Sox 157 At bats .270 Avg Career .283 hitter.. So at worst he's slightly above average and at his best among the best contact hitters in the league.... Of course all the real baseball fans define average as s***ty. But what more can you expect from the people who wanted to get rid of an ultra cheap Jon Garland when he was good for a guarunteed 12 wins a year and replace him with someone who would cost twice as much at least... Of course if we had done that we'd of still been looking at the revolving door 5th starter... Like I said before.... Anderson is hardly a guaruntee to be equal on defense to Rowand... To know the cell inside and out... To know the perfect route... and to put up at least a decent average... No Anderson might not be Borchard... But on a team that hopes to be a contender we can't take that chance... Their world series performance aside Uribe and Crede are still much bigger ? marks offensively... By the way we are talking about a guy who hit .267 in the playoffs... .294 in the world series... and got himself on base somehow almost every game.... His hits might not of been as sexy as Konerko's or Crede's but he's still a part of this team... Anderson has yet to prove he can do that...
-
I said there is no reason to MOVE A PROVEN PLAYER to put in a rookie who might or might not do s*** in the majors.... Now if we don't resign Konerko and we have no one else available then by all means give him his shot... But you sure as hell don't trade proven cheap talent so you can do it when you can just as easily trade the prospect... I never said Anderson sucked and to never give him a shot... but you don't trade the proven player to give him one unless he's overpaid... which he's not.. Some of you are acting like Anderson is some kind of god... you'll all be the first ones complaining when him and Joe Crede are competing to see who can get to the mendoza line first in April...
-
Let Brian Borchard 2K6 Anderson stay in the minors... Joe Borchard was going to be a stud too... remember him... So forgive me if i'd rather not keep the underpaid guy who busts his ass every game and has never hit below .270 with gold glove defense.... AND IS PROVED!!!! Brian Borchard can stay in the minors... Trade him.... BUT DON'T TRADE OUR PROVEN TALENT TO MAKE ROOM FOR A ROOKIE!!!! NOT TO SAVE A FEW MILLION DOLLARS!!!! FOR A 7th starter we don't need...

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I'm trying to think like Ozzie and KW. Trading Arow for pitching makes perfect sense. I definitely see the sox wanting a SP from AAA ready to step in and win games should an injury occur. They don't want to get into the whole 5th starter merry-go-round. They should want someone who can step in for the whole yr, not just one or two starts. the sox don't even have a guy who can fill in for one or two starts Sometime this offseason, a trade should be made that will address this gap in the sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok now your just being silly... Ozzie built this team on pitching and DEFENSE.... DEFENSE... Remember defense it's important too... Their not going to trade their proven gold glove CF (he deserved it more then Hunter) and Ozzie sure as hell isn't going to want to replace one of his defensive stars with a maybe rookie where you don't know what your getting... Especially for another Felix Diaz like pitching prospect that can get shelled his first game out so you can post tball pictures of him... If KW is going to get an insurance starter it sure as hell won't be a rookie or a prospect... Thats one lesson he's learned from the last 3 years...

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) The sox won the World series based on their pitching. If Arow could net a possible #2 or #3 SP, someone who could step in next yr should a SP get hurt, would that hurt the sox chances of repeating? No. Esp if Anderson could give the sox what Arow gave them this yr-- great defense, and numbers like .270/.326/.405. the sox do not have a surplus of starting pitching in the high minors. This is something that should be addressed, with or w/o an Arow trade. Yet few teams will give away top pitching prospects for guys like Marte or El Duque. It takes talent to get talent. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah just hit .270... because everyone can do it... just ask the cubs about Corey Patterson... Too many maybe's and could be's in there for my taste... Why not just keep the guy you know for a fact is going to put up those numbes you want... if Anderson hits .240 and plays defense like a typical rookie CF then we end up looking like idiots... Not to mention we already have 6th starters... all of the pitching in the world isn't going to help us hit.... Unless of course this 7th starter can DH on the days he's not pitching....

If Frank Thomas became an Indian I would cry... seriously... I mean if he went to the West Coast or East Coast I could at least deal with it... But the Indians...
-
I don't like this deal... and no not just because i'm president of the AROW fan club... This team won on pitching and defense... We have the best defensive CF in the game right now... Not only that even if he bats .280 next year he'd hardly be the worse CF out there considering his supurb defense.. It's amazing to me that so many people are willing to give up on a guy who has never hit lower then .270 at the major league level but are now ready to give Joe Crede a 10 year deal because he hit .300 in the playoffs... Plus I don't even want to hear about Brian Anderson's high ceiling... How many years did we hear the same thing about Joe Borchard... The fact is that championship teams can't afford to trade key proven players for maybe's and could be's... If Brian Anderson is so great then trade him... He didn't exactly tear it up when he got the chance this september by the way..

Vazquez asks the Dbacks to trade him
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to jackie hayes's topic in The Diamond Club
We ought to trade Jon Garland, Joe Crede, and Aaron Rowand. Then turn around and use him to get Randy Johnson... We'll win the world series for sure... Hell throw in Jose Contreas just for the hell of it... -
I will grant you the players faces look better... But everything else looks as if it belongs in a PS1 game... I actually bought EA MVP 2005 this year to give it a shot and I returned it after two days... it was so terrible... I mean I swear I must of checked the disk 100 times to make sure I didn't buy the PS1 version... The graphics were that bad... Add in the pitching meter which sucked, the hitting that sucked.. and the fielding that was stiff... and the game overall just was a huge disappointment... The same feeling I had when they ruined NBA live... EA games just suck... period... and anyone who can defend those PS1 graphics as superior needs new glasses... Take 2 games might not be perfect... and there are flaws i'm not happy with... but at least it looks like a ps2 game... It's disqusting that I can buy a copy of Madden 2002 for 3 dollars... and know i'm playing pretty much the exact same game thats one today... Name change here or there and thats it...
-
MVP baseball sucks end of story... People cream their pants because it has EA on the label... Even though it has worse graphics and crappier features then every other game on the market... But the guillible people will buy it because of the name on the front... It's so sad that those crappy Madden games are the only options out there for football.... because i'm stuck with 2k5 till that license runs out... EA SUCKS!!!! BOYCOTT EA!!!

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Just say no to Rowand in the 3rd hole. Unless we're facing lefties 162 games a season, he should be batting 7th. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> When we were at our hottest Rowand was our three hitter almost every game... Also I do expect Konerko to be gone... I just can't see KW giving him a 5 year deal, although I would love to be proved wrong there for sure... Also I expect them to resign Thomas to a minor league deal and if he's healthy enough to be our DH by midseason then we will be a team to look out for down the stretch...
-
Heres what I think they should do... Move Rowand into RF, move Anderson into CF, move Dye to 1B, sign or trade for a power bat to DH... Then the lineup for next year looks like this... Pods-LF Iguchi-2B Rowand-RF Power bat- DH Dye-1B Anderson-CF AJ-C Crede-3B Uribe-SS

I've watched Letterman 5 times... It's the only comedy show i've ever watched that can't even get me to crack a smile... He's terribly unfunny and bland... At least Leno has good writers... Letterman is sad and pathetic... Overall Conan rules all!

What About Hockey?
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to ShoelessJoe2005's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Minor League hockey is great... The NHL can rot away and die for all I care... -
Didn't anyone bother to tell her she was a week early...
-
I have a better idea... Sell it to the Cubs for say 20 million dollars... Then they can blow it up ala the Bartman ball and the Cubs would have given us an even larger payroll for next season... It's a win win...
-
Speaking of Griffey I bet he's kicking himself for that move now... Then again he saved us the trouble of having to put him on the DL next year...
-
The Astrocubs are perhaps the most classless organization in the game today... Well behind the Cubs or couse...

It's amazing to me how a pitcher like Freddy can dominate teams like the Red Sox and Yankees and then in the same year piss his pants against the Royals... -

Why is Everett hitting cleanup and not someone who actually has a chance to hit something like AROW... I swear Aaron gets no respect on this time... Being buried behind has beens like Everett.... This is the lineup Ozzie needs to use... AROW 3rd, Kong Cleanup... When we were at our hottest that was the freakin' lineup most of the time... I bet it was just a coincidence though... -

Anything short of AROW in the 3rd spot and Paulie in the cleanup spot should be considered unacceptable... Everett should be hitting about 6th... Of course for that to happen Ozzie would have to develop some semblance of a clue...
