When it comes to center fielders the Sox could aquire or use that would be adaquate enough defensively for the Sox's needs... Juan Pierre is dead last and the worst option availiable... I have to agree ChiSoxfn... Which is why I shudder at everyone who says to throw Juan Pierre out there... That being said I think Anderson will be at least decent in CF this year defensively... But he won't be Rowand...

Why don't you ask the Giants about Felix Diaz... A top prospect... projected to be a #2 starter... traded for Lofton... I imagine alot of Giants fans were upset at the time too.. Hmm... This thread is hilarious... Believe it or not other GM's aren't making trades with us so we can improve and they get worse... Fact is that Borchard has about as much trade value as a dog doo you pick up in the front yard... He will be released soon enough... As for Marte... some GM will give up something for him hoping to fix him... and maybe they can... but I doubt the Phillies would of creamed their pants over that deal...

I will go on record as saying that Gio doesn't ever become any better then a 5th starter... and he'll be out of baseball by the time he's 30, either by injury or just disappointment... ...and if he wins 300 games... well good for him, fact is that this team needs to win now... not in 2008 when he might just be ready to enter the rotation...

I happen to think that Corey Patterson would be a good gamble for us... First off his value is perhaps at the lowest that it will ever be... His defense is light years ahead of Pierre... We wouldn't have to give up much to get him... Then you have the downside... He would have to be kept toward the bottom of the order... He would have to realize that he's never going to be a sexy Sammy Sosa like power hitter... But his value is so low at this point it would be worth the gamble... Besides that could you imagine if Corey did come to the southside, had a great year, and helped to lead us to the playoffs, it would be a PR nightmare for the Cubs...

Are you serious? Ozzie said over and over how Iguchi was his MVP... Sorry I don't give a s*** how sexy their hits were in the playoffs... Offensively Uribe and Crede are the two most replacable infielders... Especially Uribe since I have no reason to believe he'll come close to his 2004 numbers and will play more like it's 2005... SS is where we need to upgrade... Iguchi is fine... Iguchi exceeded our expectations... Jeez I can't believe how many want to trade our more consistant guys from last year and keep the sleeping ones...

I could see Huff as our 1B next year... That being said his price will be too high... The DRAY's are famous for wanting way too much for their guys...

Don't get too attached to him being on the Philles either... He will be in pin stripes in just a few months...

I might get flamed on here by some women on the board but I don't see how this is such a bad thing... I mean jeez if you get drunk, get in your car, and then kill somebody in most states it's still considered murder... or manslaughter at least... I mean if their going to be stupid and get themselves drunk then they get what they deserve... Especially considering the fact that in most of these cases the men are just as intoxicated. Keep in mind if the guy has drugged the girl, or anything like that... Then of course I think it's rape...

Honestly I don't see this as changing anything on the Frank front... Realisticly he's not going to be able to do much next season anyway... The best thing he could of hoped for was a mid season, all star break return... The most he's going to get is a minor league deal from us regardless... Honestly I think the Sox should sit down with him... Tell him that they will sign him to a contract and put him on the DL... Let him rehab in the organization... Just as like an insurance policy... and should the situation arrive where when he was ready to return their wasn't a spot for him... Then we would agree to either trade him or allow him to become a free agent... I think that would be a win win for both parties... Since no one will pony up anything till they are sure he's healthy...

Ohh please, for about a week before they started everyone here was creaming their pants over all of them... Especially when Felix dominated AAA that year... Then after he didn't perform that first week everyone turned on him... Which was made sillier because if you take out him being jerked around he had a solid stretch... 3 decent starts and some pen work... Of course when BMAC did the exact same thing he became the messiah... Anyway the point is neither of these guys has like a 100 MPH fastball... and from what I read the one can't stay healthy... I don't get why everyone is so freaken broken up over these guys... I wish I could share your amnesia though but after bust and bust I refuse to get excited over overhyped pitching anymore... or anyone for that matter... Just like Anderson... I have already resigned myself that Anderson isn't going to hit higher the .240 next season... However thats ok as long as Thome performs like I think he will... and he plays defense even half as well as advertised... or as I saw in spring training last year... However you can't misunderstand that as not wanting him to do better... If he hits .300, great! However it makes things alot easier... Because when most of the Anderson backers are bashing him as never being any more then a 4th outfielder (and they will if he starts out slow). I guess the point i'm trying to make is I just can't bring myself to get excited over these prospects... I think he'll do good enough... I think he'd save this team this the torture of Pierre allowing run after run off of bad defense... But I refuse to get myself hyped up for another superstar...
