  1. I hope he ends up with the Cubs... Then we he spends at least half the year on the DL they can have another excuse as to why they didn't make the playoffs
  2. No way in hell should KW throw away Rowand. That would be retarded. Why in the hell would he take on all of that payroll just to weaken our pitching staff in the long run. No way should that deal be done. We know Garland can put in ERA under 5 in the cell. The same can't be said for Vazquez. He would get lit up here. Byrnes sucks compared to Rowand. You might be able to replace his production (which I doubt) but you can't replace his drive and attitude. It was be the knife in the chest that doomed us to 2nd place. :puke
  3. I like Billy Koch the guy. I like Billy Koch the player. I just don't like Billy Koch the player on the Sox. Goodluck in Canada and I hope you get your career back on track...
  4. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Jan 10, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) I'm still wondering how an OBP of .343 is "failing". Is it great? No, of course not. But is it a failure to have a .343 OBP in your first real shot at the major league level? I say absolutely not. Add to that solid defense at 2B along with 19 stolen bases, and I'd say it was rather successful. His power numbers were invisible, but that wasn't a surprise to anybody. Why so down on him? And provide reasons and explanations - not just baseless and floating statements. I could see us trading away our best reliever (no offense to Shingo, I love the guy - but he's got to do it again for me to buy him as the real deal) if we were going to get something great like a package deal for a #1 or #2 starter, but to upgrade a position that's really not that weak for us? I just wouldn't see the logic in that at all. And just for fun I checked out Luis Castillo's stats to make sure I wasn't rushing to judgement, and I'm really not. If the Sox were to trade Marte for Castillo, we'd be picking up some salary (not sure how much Marte is due to make in the next couple of years, but it's not as much as Castillo), weakening our bullpen considerably, all while upgrading slightly. Breakdown of Willie Harris vs. Luis Castillo from 2004... Batting Average: WH .262 LC .291 --- advantage LC by 29 points OBP: WH .343 LC .373 --- advantage LC by 30 points Steals: WH 19 LC 21 --- advantage Willie (he had 155 less AB than Luis) Fielding Percentage (at 2B): WH .990 LC .991 Soooo, we'd be giving up our best reliever (who's also one of the top 3 or 4 lefties out of the pen in the AL, if not all of baseball) and a couple million in salary (at least) to gain 30 batting average points? Is that worth it? To me, it's not. Speed and defense are a wash IMO. Especially when Willie *should* improve upon those numbers with more regular playing time. Willie has a lot of upside, while Luis Castillo's best years are behind him IMO. Am I the only one who doesn't hate Willie Harris? Ha ha. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone on this site will tell you that I love Willie Harris. If it wasn't for this deal i'd rather see him as our starting 2B this year. However the reason that I pull the trigger on this deal has nothing to do with Willie and everything to do with Pods. Pods won't be a legit leadoff hitter. If giving up Marte gets us one then we have to do it. As much as I would hate to give up Marte it sucks going into the season with a maybe at leadoff. This gives us as close to a sure thing as we're going to get.
  5. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) There's only one rule on this site, and it mentions nothing of the word gay. If you're going to have all these unwritten rules, WRITE THEM DOWN for godsakes. Jeckle, you're a kid, you know this. Gay is in this day and age, a COMMON term for something that is stupid. Adults can go on all they want about "you dumb kids need to let your vocabulary grow". GAY grows on you. So many f***ing people use it that you eventually start calling things gay. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually i'm 23 years old. I also disagree with you. When I was in high school I never used gay to call someone stupid. I used stupid to call someone stupid. The rule is no personal attacks. Gay applies.
  6. QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Yeah, but I'm sick of all this protecting gay people. There's only one f***ing gay person on the board, and he doesn't even care (or so it seems). He's never the one saying "Guys quit using that word please", it's the admins. I don't know why there's so much protection for it, he's probably heard every gay joke in the world, some guy calling a football player gay on a message board isn't gonna make him freak out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's the point that it's a sign of disrespect. I mean do you really have to do it. Just let it go. It's a rule. FOLLOW IT! Your lucky your allowed to post here at all.
  7. Anything by Hilary Duff or Ashlee Simpson. They both need to find something else to do because they have no talent.
  8. I think everyone just needs to calm down. All of the Admins and Mods do a fantastic job here. If it wasn't for them this site wouldn't even exist. Everyone needs to just calm down. It's one thing to have a dissenting opinion. It's quite another thing to just go and insult someone.
  9. This is just a pipe dream but it is fun to talk about. IMO there is no reason to trade Borchard. He's worth nothing and there's always the possibility he'll wake up. It would be stupid to trade him while he's value is in the toliet.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) You sound as if Munoz possesses potential to replace Marte's talent. Sox desperately need a strong bullpen for no other reason than El-Duque's questionable health. If he enters a "dead-arm" stretch, and is unable to eclipse 5 innings, I'd wonder how the bullpen would manage for 4 innings without Marte. Personally, I can't stand these offseaon moves in which we take one step forward- two backwards. It's obvious with the offense, which was often inconsistent, change was imminent; but our bullpen was never dependable. Politte/Hermanson/Marte/Vizcaino/Shingo is a stellar bridge to assemble from starter to victory. If any of our starters have a mediocre outing, Ozzie will have no restraint in removing his pitchers. It may sound ridiculous to covet Marte over Castillo, but I believe he's incredibly vital to our teams success. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No of course i'm not saying that Munoz could replace Marte. I just didn't think we had any other lefties besides Neil Cotts or Kevin Walker we could plug into the bullpen. Yes Marte is a great pitcher and yes it would weaken our bullpen. Under any other circumstances I would be totally against it. However I don't see Pods as being able to handle being a leadoff hitter for this team. Thus Castillo becomes more important because we can have him lead off and move Pods down to the 9 hole. Castillo would be the only guy I would consider trading Marte for.
  11. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I would love to see Ozzie and KW bring Miquel Caberea to the whitesox maybe we can give up Marte and Crede. Caberea can be our new 3B.. I would be one happy sox fan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that before or after SF sends us Barry Bonds for Pods?
  12. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Jan 9, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) I think Marte and Harris is too much to give up unless they send some young prospects this way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As much as I like Harris he has no value and he does us no good on the Bench (doesn't play SS or 3B). Either he is our starting 2B or he shouldn't be on the team at all. Thus we would have to throw him in to the deal. Unless we keep him at AAA of course but I think he's out of options.
  13. It would be funny to have Ozzie calling him kid... If he's healthy and he can do it and come cheap sure why not...
  14. You know what guys you convinced me. Marte for Castillo is a good deal. I totally forgot we even had Munoz. I think that we could survive without Marte and I think Castillo would be more valuable. However I would want to have the Marlins take Willie as well because he's just taking up roster space that should be used to bring Burke back as the third catcher/backup CIF. Marte/Harris for Castillo The more I think about it the better that sounds...
  15. It's nuts how one sided the game is. The Colts just look invincible right now. Just as an aside CBS has the most boring, bulls*** TV sports people around. Give me the Fox or ABC guys any day of the week.
  16. IMO I would love to have Castillo on this team. He would give us a leadoff hitter incase Pods turns out to be a bust. However Marte should be a no way. Hands off. Not on the Market. We need to try and center a package around Willie Harris (Since we'd need him off the roster to make room for Castillo), Neil Cotts, and Prospects
  17. This would be the best news ever. I would love for Maggs to be stuck with the Tiggies. At best he will end up being a DH and he will be on the DL sometime next season. Plus they don't have the pitching to really accomplish anything. Have fun Maggs!
  18. As much as I like Willie it's hard to expect him to have value when every part of Sox managment thinks he sucks, has a bad attitude, isn't getting the job done. Yes he has some value but it isn't much. Sort of like the situation we wound up in with Rauch last year.
  19. I went to my girlfriends house and her sister was watching this god awful movie starring Hilary Duff. The girl just can't act a bit. I only saw like 5 mins of it and it made me want to kill himself. Hilary Duff SUCKS! I just had to vent that somewhere.
  20. QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Im telling going take more than just prospects and willie. If Kenny was willing take on some of that salary that durhams making than why wouldnt he give money iguchi? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Last time I checked Iguchi has no major league experience. Durham is a little bit more proven. I could see us taking on up to 4 Mil a year for Durham just because he has proven himself when healthy. No way should Iguchi be given 4 mil a year until he has proven something.
  21. I'll go for my lineup... LF- Posednik CF- Rowand RF- Dye 1B- Konerko DH- Everett SS- Uribe C- AJ 3B-Crede 2B- Iguchi (The more I hear about us being the only offer on the table the more I think we will get him. No way should he start in the 2 hole until he can prove he can handle it) Bench: 1B/OF- Gload OF- Perez C- Davis IF- Valdez C/CIF/COF- Burke (I have a feeling we will be seeing him come back) Rotation: 1- Buherle 2- Garcia 3- Hernandez (he should be the number 3 starter in name only, Ozzie would be a fool not to give him as many days off as possible) 4- Contreas 5- Garland Bullpen: Cl- Shingo Su- Marte Su- Herminson MR- Politte MR- Vizcaino LR- Cotts
  22. No way in hell is Durham worth Marte at this stage of his career. Even if Ozzie was "less then impressed" with him there is no way that KW would allow that trade to happen. There would either have to be major money coming our way or some solid prospects being tacked on.
  23. IMO there is no way that he would come here. I like Stone. I like Hawk. But both have very strong personalities and I doubt they would co-exist. Besides DJ does his job as the good little shill for all things sox. Management likes him and I can't see them getting rid of him. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see Stone and Hawk in the booth. I'm just saying it's not likely.
  24. NO! He is exactly what we are trying to get away from. We can find better.
