It's nice to make a list of all of our crappy players and make believe that every other GM in baseball is stupid enough to give us something of value for them. IMO Willie Harris is one of the best defensive secondbasemen in the game today and he will eventually, like Cora, come around offensively and put up a really solid year. The only problem is that it's no secret that the managment doesn't like his attitude so we wouldn't get anything for him. Thats the one thing that pisses me off about Ozzie. Yes it's fun to hear him bad mouthing some player we might not like but it also takes away any value that player has. In a dream world I would love to see the sox trade Borchard, Harris, Everett if we could get something for them. However I just can't imagine anyone giving us anything worth s*** for them. Also IMO Diaz needs to stay with this team. He should be the backup plan incase any of our starters get hurt or we need an extra arm in the pen. Under no circumstances should he be traded unless they offer something very special. I don't want Jason Grilli on this team at all. Diaz>>Grilli

If we do sign a new 2B then Valdez needs to be on the roster instead of Harris. As good of a second basemen as Willie is he can't play short or third. So if we do sign Iguchi it better be Valdez who is carried as the other IF and just put Harris back in AAA.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Give me a break Jeckle. It's easier to find an Aaron Rowand then it is to find a Juan Uribe, they didn't lowball him so give that s*** up. Like I said before it seems to me you care more about your favorite players then you do about the team. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's easier to find a hard working CF who would do anything to help the team, who is both solid offensively and great defensively then it is to find a IF who thinks he is a power hitter and swings for the fences on every at bat. I like AROW and I will continue to like him when he leaves. Do I like him more then I like the Sox? No. Uribe still has to prove he can come to camp in shape. He also needs to find a shorter swing. IMO AROW is a better player at this stage of his career. Just because I think Aaron is a better player then Uribe doesn't mean I like him more then the Sox. AROW has the potential to walk into next year and become a star and it's going to bite us on the ass if he does.

Anyone else think this is making the scrubbie fans a little nervous. Here we are filling all of our holes and Hendry is doing nothing but signing the same guys who choked down the stretch last year and giving low ball offers to Beltran.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) You didn't answer my question. Aaron is a great player and Kenny has offered him a contract extension he didn't accept. Why offer him more money as of right now when he's had 1 good year and it's not like he's eligible for free agency after this year. Right now it's in the best interest of the team to not just throw money at Aaron, trust me I want him locked up also but not for a huge price until he proves he can do it for 2 years in a row. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Juan Uribe needed to prove he could do it again. Arow was about a career .280 hitter before coming into this season. This was nothing more then KW lowballing a player who deserved more. What happens when Rowand does repeat and he commands even more money? KW is going to lose him for nothing and he is going to end up being a superstar somewhere else. Yes he'll eventually leave like all of the other great Sox players who the team is too cheap to keep (except Frank Thomas) and yes I will still remain a Sox fan after he's gone. It's just so frustrating that they would cheap out on AROW yet give a long term contract to a guy who hasn't proven half of what AROW has.

This is just so great for the Sox. Somewhere Ben Davis is crying...

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) You really like your favorite players more then the team, don't you?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree. Aaron Rowand is the heart and soul of this team. Without his hard nose style of play and attitude we aren't contenders at all last year. Hell we aren't even pretenders.
-
Look at the message under my Avatar... ----> AROW is one of the best pure talents to ever come out of the White Sox organization and if KW drops the ball and fails to sign him then he should be fired on the spot.
-
The only true "upgrade" at 2B on the market is now gone, and at that price KW should be ashamed of himself for letting him go. Hell swoop in and offer him a cool million. All I know is that if we do sign Willie Harris of the future (A.K.A. Alex Cora) he better come no more expensive then 700,000. Otherwise KW better tell him to take a hike.
-
If the Giants take on 8 Mil over the remainder of the contract then I will welcome him back with open arms. Otherwise no thanks...

I'm scratching my head here. Doesn't Ozzie like having 3 catchers on the roster? Not only that he can play CIF and COF too. I hope no one claims him because he would for sure make the team in spring training. I just don't get this. Couldn't we have just moved a minor leaguer who had options off the roster?

I really don't want Vazquez here. Does he have better "stuff" then Garland? More then likely. Does he have so much better stuff that he's worth over 6 Mil dollars more then Garland? NO WAY IN HELL! Not only that i've heard he can opt out of his contract at the end of the year if he doesn't like us or make us trade him. So if he tanks it and he forces a trade then we'd be giving Garland and whatever prospect for s***. I don't want him here. We have a pretty good idea what Garland will do, he's done it the last three years. For all we know Vazquez could get lit up in the cell. No way should we pay 6 mil more plus prospects for a maybe!

Score just reported Sox sign AJ
AngelasDaddy0427 replied to 103 mph screwball's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is a great day for the Sox. I really think KW was smart for just giving him a one year contract since we are going to have him until 2006 regardless. I can't believe he took 2.25 Mil but i'm still happy as hell about it. Now do what I said KW. Forget Iguchi and sign Cairo! -
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) You realize that would be ten times better than our OF right????? If Maggs is healthy and plays even 75% of what he has played throughout his career <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you kidding? You have Dye and Rowand who are four times as good as Scammy and CPAT. So your going to tell me that 75 % of Maggs is so much better then 100% of Pods that is cancels out how much better Dye and Rowand (and by the way I am also factoring in defense and attitude)
-
I think this is a great thing for Esteban. He can put up monster numbers in a pitchers part and finally get that huge contract he's already dreamed about.

I feel sorry for all the Cardinal fans... This guy wass the worst of all the second basemen on the market (and yes that was counting Robbie Alomar). I like David Eckstien but that MI of theirs is going to have the worse range of any in baseball. I just expected them to do so much better then that Scrub.

I'm an Unhappy GOP because I hate Bush with a passion and everything he stands for, like fiscal irresponsibility and hypocritical values. Plus I've never liked puppets. God I wish John McCain won...

Glad to hear about another Bulls win. It's just a shame my cable company won't let me see them... Ohh why or why are they keeping me from Comcast Sportsnet :headshake

I think that is the worse part about the Twins. It seems like every young prospect they bring up plays like an all star and ours play like crap.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) thanks for your support, any team can win the division in case you didn't know that, dont count out the royals even though i doubt it will happen <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't get me wrong. I am a die hard Sox fan and I will be rooting for them with every fiber of my being. However I don't think as is they are a World Series caliber team. Doesn't mean I won't support them and love them. GO SOX! PROVE ME WRONG!

Anyone else think that JR has a secret plan to get the payroll back to 35 mil within a few years? :headshake
