  1. I honestly feel sorry for the fans... If I was an Angel fan in Anaheim and they pulled this crap it would piss me off. I have a feeling that this is only going to hurt their fan base not help it.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) He takes Timo's spot after Timo is traded for half a box of melted Jr. Mints <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I totally forget about Timo. What was KW thinking when he signed him... Ozzie must have a major hardon for him.
  3. IMO AROW is going to be a great player for us. He's not only a grinder but he has a ton of talent and needs to be signed to a long term deal (in fact he should of been signed well before Uribe). AROW was ready 2 years ago. KW just got Everett before he could prove it.
  4. Where on the roster do we put Valdez... If we sign AJ and Iguchi both (as you seem to want...) then that leaves us with a bench of: Gload Everett Davis Burke Harris There's no real more for Valdez anywhere on that roster... I think Cairo fits this team alot better then Iguchi or Cora. I just hope KW seems that and is working under the radar
  5. Uribe better get his ass in shape. The last thing this team can afford is possibly an infield relying on Crede, Valdez, and Harris {Shudder}.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) I wonder how many games Uribe and Harris played in 2004 as the SS-2B combo, and why it's assumed they have such great chemistry. Further, if the chemistry was so great and everything is fantastic, why is KW looking to add somebody at 2B? Something doesn't add up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I totally agree with you and I have no problem with this team upgrading if it's actually an upgrade. I'm afraid if we sign Cora and he starts to suck that Ozzie will keep him in the lineup just because of his relationship with his brother. I would just perfer to stay away from that whole situation of bringing in kids or family members of the coaches. I'm also not sold on the japanese guy but I wouldn't be too disappointed if we signed him, Shingo worked out for us. I do hope we don't spend over 4 mil for him. The guy i'd want is Cairo. I just think he's the one guy on the market that has the best chance to improve on what we don't already have.
  7. This is the lineup I would make if we signed AJ and Cairo... LF- Pods (Although i'm not totally sold on him to be able to leadoff who else do we have) CF- Rowand (Rowand needs to be in the 2 hole or someone deserves to lose their job, if Uribe is here :puke) RF- Dye (Until Thomas comes back, then Thomas is three and Dye explaces Everett in the order) 1B- Konerko DH- Everett (Kong and Everett can be switched) SS- Uribe (He wants to be a power hitter, let him) C- AJ 3B- Crede 2B- Harris/Cairo (Good speed, great defense, no pressure on Harris) If we bother signing a second basemen to replace Harris and we spend over 2 mil for him we sure as hell make sure that he's going to be better then Harris. We can't be sure of that from Cora (too inconsistant) or Iguchi (never played a game in the MLB). At least Cairo would be a decent platoon option and stater if Willie totally falls flat on his face. I just don't get how so many of you have Iguchi as your #1 or #2 hitter.
  8. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) I prefere to stay with Willie. Willie and Juan were great in the infield together last year. I think they'll do it again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly my point. Who knows if anyone else we get will have that chemistry. I think Willie will only improve and he'll be batting 9th. Then we can get a guy like Cairo to platoon with him. Cora gives us nothing that we don't already have.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Lee was terrible in the outfield, regardless if he made any errors or not. Half the time he never got to balls that most players would get to and perhaps the main reason he had no errors if that he only on occasion made difficult plays. There are a lot of times I remember balls dropping right in front of him throughout the years. Let's not make him out to be such a great outfielders, folks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem is that Lee's defense improved every year. You can't look at what he did in 2002 and compare it to 2003. You can't look at 2003 and compare it to 2004. When he first started in LF yeah he sucked. Maybe he might never have the best range but I think Carlos is lightyears ahead of when he started.
  10. Anything that helps us get AJP is good news for me... GO GET EM KW!
  11. I agree with the poll. Prior and Wood will have the biggest impact. They will both be on the DL at least a fourth of the year and will be instrumental in choking the year away as usually... :fthecubs
  12. Someone ought to buy it and burn it to release the bad luck. Ohh my god I actually thought like a chubbie fan for a second... I feel so dirty! :puke
  13. I wonder if the offered the footlongs...
  14. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) How can you not love Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon.... I dare you to try and not love them... I don't love them... Just kidding...gotta them.
  15. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jan 2, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) we all love the worm, but you could swap any number of solid rebounders with Dennis, and the bulls still wouda won. wouldnt have been as fun to watch, but still wouda been fine. Same with Longley and Harper. Exactly my point. Jordan and Pippen are the only irreplacable members of that team. Any of the other ones could have been replaced.

    Cubs fans

Trying to find logic in anything a scubbie fan says is useless. As for the sox having bandwagon fans... If the sox somehow won the World Series before the scubbies I think we'd be suprised at how many of our "cub fan" friends would be wearing Sox caps and trying to blend in.
  17. QUOTE (Cleats67 @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) This is no different than when the Bulls brought in Dennis Rodman. He was hated by everyone on the Bulls when he was with the Pistons. The Bulls talked with Michael, Scottie,... and then agreed to sign him. Even though he caused a lot of chaos while here, they won 3 championships with him. AJ is the same type of player Rodman was. He gets in the head of the opponent and takes them out of their game. We need some character, heart, and passion on this team and he will give us that and it will spill over to other Sox players. We won't have anyone being plowed over at the plate without getting drilled the next time up if AJ is here. The difference is that the bulls would of won those Championships with or without Rodman. The bulls were already in a position to win it all. Rodman was just the icing on the cake. It is highly unlikely this team in it's current state is going to win the World Series. Will adding AJ make us that team? Maybe... However to compare us to the Bulls signing Rodman just doesn't make much sense.
  18. I'm not sold on Pods yet. I just hope you guys are right and i'm wrong. I would be happy to eat crow.
  19. Happy New Years... I need a drink...
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 07:19 AM) It's amusing to me that Sox management decides that a power filled lineup doesnt work and we need a new direction , when clearly, if we had a better pitching staff all along we would've competed. Saying the power lineup got us nowhere is just managements attempt to redirect the blame away from themselves for not getting the Sox better pitching. I don't agree with that at all. The chubbies (who supposedly have the best rotation in baseball) lost because they have a lineup that was too full of power and less able to create runs. Yes the 5th starter was a problem but it was by no means the only problem. This team wasn't going anywhere scoring 7 runs one game and then 2 the next three.
  21. If Wood was on any other team in baseball he would of been but in the bullpen by now. The cubs can't though because they have two much hype surrounding him. It's all well and good to dominate but when your pitching over a hundred pitches usually by the 5th inning then your not going to win too many games. Yes I admit that Maddux is a rock. We'll see how Prior does when he comes back for injury. I would take our rotation over theirs.
  22. Jon Garland a better value then Vazquez...Yes... Jon Garland with more upside then Vazquez...Yes... Jon Garland in the hall of fame or winning a CY Young...no offense but pass that bong over here....
  23. I'm still not totally sold on Pods but at least KW is trying to do something. Hopefully it works out...
  24. The cubs rotation in my opinion is way overrated. Especially with Clement gone. Prior has yet to prove he can put together consistant years. Wood is an injury waiting to happen and he hasn't won more then 14 games. Zambrano is a stud but he's also a headcase. Rusch will be proven to be a fluke for them last year. My list: 1- Yankees (if they get RJ) 2- Boston 3- Sox 4- Cardinals 5- Marlins :fthecubs
