MLB 2020-21 off season catch all
Hahahahaha. That's not going to be a good signing for the Twins. Guy will get shelled.

Twins literally just signed JA Happ. Good call out here.

Trying to keep up with you guys... ... Hoping that this rumor still has steam and maybe we see it happen tonight? Anyway.. 1) You do NOT trade Kopech. That's ridiculous. Someone already mentioned it, but that serves very little purpose -- acquire a SP only to trade a similar one. 2) I have no problem trading Vaughn for a Burnes type. Gotta think the Brewers are much more interested in Vaughn than Madrigal. We have Eloy at DH for the future and Abreu at 1b for some time. Vaughn doesn't have a spot on this team. Trade him. 3) I'd keep Madrigal. Unless the Brewers are massively overvaluing Madrigal, I see no reason to trade him. I'd do Vaughn + Stevier + lotto tickets or something?

Quick Rotoworld Blurb on Brad hand saying that the Angels are emerging as favorites, but interestingly notes that the White Sox were interested in Hand as well. Not sure if their interest was prior to Hendriks or still ongoing. Wouldn't mind a Hand signing.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Gotta think the most likely to least likely appears to be: Tier 1: 1) Toronto Blue Jays 2) LA Angels Tier 2: 3) NY Mets 4) LA Dodgers 5) SF Giants Tier 3: 6) Chicago White Sox All those rankings are pretty close. Toronto has an obvious need and money to apparently spend after missing out on Brantley. Almost feels like a sure thing that they will be involved. Question is if Bauer wants to go to Toronto.... not sure that he'd want that. LA Angels have been the most logical landing spot for some time now. No word on if they are interested, but obvious need, have money, and have spent for big time players in the past. I assume Bauer likes LA. Tier 2 features the teams with money. Mets and Dodgers both amazing ball clubs with tons of money, but both have no obvious need at SP. Dodgers are IN for a certain price, and that's all we really have heard about Bauer's market so far. Gotta hope that the White Sox have the balls to pick up Bauer before he reaches a spot where the Dodgers jump in. Giants don't make a lot of sense in the winning area, but I assume Bauer likes SF/LA/West coast from what I understand. Tier 3 our White sox have an obvious need and have room in the payroll to spend, but so far there's been 0 reason to think that JR & co. go out and spend the necessary big player money as we've never seen them hand out a contract this big and there's been no rumors so far.

Michael Brantley to the ASTROS 2 years 32 mill per Nightengale
2 years 26 million is more in line with what I expected (and I did not want the White Sox to get Brantley).

Michael Brantley to the ASTROS 2 years 32 mill per Nightengale
Crazy if you think the springer deal was fine 25 million a year for 6 years? Guy will be awful in three years
-
Michael Brantley to the ASTROS 2 years 32 mill per Nightengale
I hear you, but brantly is going to be slow and old and not a fielder so they effectively are locking their dh up for a team who has a number of dh options

Awesome, can likely count them out on bauer springer snd brantley are two very bad deals... they gave brantley three years ?

George Springer to Toronto. 6 years/150 million
Laughable deal, but when you are Toronto you gotta do what ya gotta do... respect

good idea but i think i can help the brewers out more by taking C. Yellich's big contract off their hands. That seems like a good idea for the Brewers, I'd be willing to take on Yelliches extreme contract. ? no in all seriousness -- Cain might be a smart idea on your end.

Well, we aren't trading Kopech/Vaughn/Madrigal in this deal (if we were willing to trade one of them, we'd be going after a SP with less risk). So Stevier + Bailey + Kelley + other like Dalquist or something.

I think you (and the reddit poster who made a similar request) are right here. Stiever +Bailey + a bit more like you said. I think Madrigal stays. I find it hard to believer they would trade Kelley after convincing him to sign with us, but I have no problem with trading him.

Yellich + Burnes for Vaughn + Kopech + Kelley

That's more a long the the lines of what I'm thinking. Stiever + Thompson + ____ ? I doubt Madrigal is in it. Maybe Kelley? Maybe Cease. Maybe Kopech is WS have soured on him. Maybe a Vaughn for Burnes type of structured deal.

Lets add Yellich to the trade and send back Kopech + Vaughn. ??????????

Ace is a loose term with no definition, but I can say that Burnes would immediately come in and be a capable SP2 with as much upside as anyone in the game (i.e. potential AL Cy Young candidate). Of course there is more risk associated with no track record with a guy like Burnes over players like Bauer/Darvish caliber, but Burnes is on the same level there.

Burnes becomes a FA in 2025. Getting him on this team to go with Giolito/Lynn/Keuchel would be so cool. I've made a lot of shitposts on the site this week because I was angry seeing the Padres get ace after ace after ace and hearing about us going after garbage inning eaters as a "W". Get me Burnes and I call this offseason a massive success.

I will pack Kelley's bags and take him to the airplane myself if I can get Burnes without giving up Kopech/Vaughn/Madrigal.

Interesting. Would be super cool!!
