Not surprised. I get a feeling Toronto would have to annihilate the next offer to land a big fish like this.

Lot of money for an older, albeit terrific, player. Blue Jay's are serious about catching the Yankees.

This contract is DUMB. Say what you will about the Sox being cheap...but at least they are not reckless. This is higher than he should have gotten in a normal off-season. Those last 2-3 years will be bad.

I’ll say the last 4y will be bad. This is a horrible contract. Happy to be wrong but I don’t think Springer’s style of play will age well.

It does make sense in that regard, but I’m losing zero sleep not matching that deal.

Yeah I’m good with not pursuing that kind of deal. 4 years is one thing, 6 years is another.
