Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Damn... there goes that hope. That seems like a reasonable deal too

Angels sign Rendon - 7yrs 245
Let's sign Rendon and then do the Price+Benin trade and call it an offseason on offense. I'm down, you?

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
As if I cared about 'blame'. You are taking this way too serious.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
A lot has been said in here about this trade, but it's pretty simple: This is a good overall trade. Getting 24 year old Nomar M. for pretty much nothing is NICE. Don't believe me? Look through twitter comments and see what Ranger fans think and other baseball fans think. The problem is that a lot of us feel this is the ONLY move that the w'Sox will make in RF. That's a big problem, but let's just wait and see what happens. If the W'sox go into the season with Mazaraa penciled in as our right fielder, then yeah, Hahn is a fucking moron.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
fun trade if it is at all real... it does make sense for the astros to trade correa for a good young SP. But why the hell would the reds do this

Didi to Phi Phi
Only because they signed Harper, Wheeler, bullpen arms, McCutchen, Didi and traded for Segura and Realmuto and are virtually in on every free agent and not afraid to go over the luxury tax. Have to be incredibly happy to be a Phillies fan with the effort they put in.

Nomar Mazara Speculation
Mazaraa would be so damn boring and gross and ugly compared to the RF options we've discussed... i'd want to cry

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
If we can get Price + Beni for little to nothing that would be amazing. Price's contract is horrid, but plugging in Beni into the OF solves that hole for us.

Successful Plan B; What’s Next?
I don't think there's a chance in hell he signs with the Giants. It makes absolutely no sense. For one, he's a HORRID fielder, putting him in that OF is a horrible idea for him AND the Giants. For two, the team has no reason to sign him to a big contract, their in a complete rebuild with nowhere to go. For three, Castellanos hates those big fields. It just doesn't make any sense. Book it. He ain't going to the Giants.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Yup but at least its been a significantly better offseason this year so far

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Fair enough. That's a bad idea then.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Would we get Ozuna and Tsutsugo? IDK anything about Tsutsugo but if his defense is good and he wouldn't command too much money we could use him in the OF and Ozuna as DH,.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Yup! Just a few years ago in MIA Ozuna put up an amazing hitting season. This guy would be a major boom for us in our line up compared to the past x amount of years. We will have a very scary line up.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
After the Machado/Harper fiasco, I gave up on twitter rumors. They must have a 95%+ fail rate. A lot of the good ones seemed to be rooted in some truth, but things seem to change so fast that they become false. I follow these threads for the 'what ifs' and pondering on what could be.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
I have no idea whats going on in this thread since last night I was out... ...but while I love Ozuna and Castellanos, why are most people on this site AGAINST the idea of signing Puig? Puig has a ton of potential, the cuban connection, will receive a significantly cheaper contract than the other two, has tons of speed, I *think* plays better defense? Just food for thought.. seems like such a good fit. I'd be very excited about Ozuna or Castellanos as well, but Castellanos is one of the worst defenders in the league and Ozuna probably isn't much better...

Padres / rays: Tommy Pham trade
Pham is an elite outfielder. But after a day has gone on now, I really like this deal for the Rays.
-
FA SP: What to do after the Wheeler miss?
Trading for Gallen and signing Rendon would make me shit myself and forget Machado or Tatis Jr ever existed.

Sox in on Marcell Ozuna? I mean, maybe. Or not.
Price. Santana will be very cheap, Castellanos not so much. Personally, I like both options. I also like Marte a lot... just ... not sure what offer could get it done. If in any world a Collins interests them, then I'd be super IN on that.

SoxTalk based Fantasy Baseball League (Dynasty/Keeper/Regular)
Appreciate the honesty ChiSox59, but yeh its going to be difficult with the different backgrounds/opinions. If it ends up becoming divided with strong opinions I'll probably just create a league with the settings/type I want, promote it here and if it doesn't fill, oh well!

SoxTalk based Fantasy Baseball League (Dynasty/Keeper/Regular)
@BackDoorBreach @cjgalloway @ChiSox59 @maxjusttyped @Look at Ray Ray Run @MyNamesRod @Seinfeldologist + ME of course. The above is the list of people who have expressed some solid interest. We also have @ron883 (who posted here but did not express interest), and @Jack Parkman (with interest, but not realistic as $30 is too little, maybe we can convince you to up it to 50 or 100?). Anyway, that is REALLY GOOD. The list is 8 people and we have 2 others possible, and I'd guess that other members of the forum might join in on the fun too. At 8 we can have an AL/NL only league and have a great time. We get a few more at 12/14 and we can have some real fun. So we need to start talking about the info and here's a quick questionnaire to get us started: 1) Buy-In - Some of you guys are high rollers, others are more limited with the buy-in. I can't do anything above $300 for 100% sure. I'd prefer less than $200. I think a sweet spot is $100 for me. A) $300 B) $200 C) $100 D) $50 2) Type of League A) Dynasty B) Redraft C) Limited Keeper If you are NEW to any of these setups please understand that a dynasty format is a hell of a lot more demanding. A dynasty isn't supposed to be a 'one year league' it's supposed to multiple years down the line. We could be in this for 10 years together! This is a beautiful thing, but also something you have to be ready for. I strongly prefer a dynasty league (as I've been trying to get one going for the past 2 years), but I understand that requires a dedicated group. 3) H2H vs. ROTO A) H2H B) Roto Just a simple preference check here. Roto is IMO more skilled and number based as you don't have the playoff weeks in the end resulting in a lucky 6 seed winning the whole league. H2H has more trash talking, week to week randomity, etc. I prefer Roto, but don't mind H2H. We can talk about the categories/scoring/points later. 4) Service Provider People in this thread have expressed conflict with going to different providers. I urge you to be open here as we have a limited base. If we are doing a dynasty league, Yahoo might not be the best provider. If we are doing a redraft league, then who cares what we do. etc. Let's be open to options? But if you absolutely will not be open, please let me know here. Anyway, this should get us started with what we really have here.

Padres / rays: Tommy Pham trade
For those that don't understand the SD terminology going around....
-
Padres / rays: Tommy Pham trade
Bit of an odd trade, but in the end, it does...make sense. For the Rays, this is a trade admitting that they have to have a surreal low payroll. They cut out Pham who's old and getting closer to FA for a younger Renfroe under more control and get an elite prospect back. It sucks for the fans and apparently the teammates (Snell --> Slapdick prospect), but it's... smart. For the Padres they get their high OBP high WAR outfield superstar as they try to compete this year and next. I just don't know whether I like the trade or not from either perspective. So many pros/cons. Either way it's a very juicy offseason so far.
