Seems so Odd.

This isn't a moncada vs. Machado discussion, and I'm not (nor should you) be convinced that one soft season of Machado is going to be his future projection. Machado is definitely a strong bounce back candidate. (p.s. his defense is pretty damn amazing).

All I know is I'm super-glad I'm not in Hahn & Co's shoes right now. Even as a fan I have no answers (and we fans have the benefit of making illogical conclusions). We need a SP1/SP2 type, but the options sucks.

Steve's right here. Just last night we heard that cole met with NYY management and it went well. Now Rankin is saying that Cole is to LAA and no other media is picking up on this, with no other sources? This is as good as a random twitter post and should be completely disregarded.

Our Plan "b" should be to target Cole/Strasburg heavily. Those are the ones that will make our rotation go from AAAA to MLB level. If we're in the playoffs with a rotation of Stras/Gio/Kopech that might work. If were in the playoffs with Gio/Keuchel/Kopech that looks a lot uglier. I don't think we have a shot in hell at bumgarner, nor do I want him at his projected cost. I don't see how he fits in with our squad.

This. By a long shot. I understand that 18 mill isn't as astronomical as I originally thought... but gimmie that Gibson 10 mil a year over declining Hamels at 18 mil everyday. This seems like paying for the name value more than the output IMO.

Wow pretty insane deal IMO. 18 million? I'm not a financial expert with contracts but that seems so huge for a pitcher that is in such decline! Glad he didn't end up on the sox. Guess it means Braves are out on Bumgarner.

guys as someone who walked away from the white sox for a year after the machado/harper debacle.... I don't think overpaying Wheeler is what we want to get upset about. let's just see what happens and how much his contract is before we jump off the cliff :). Wheeler may be the best option for us in Free agency this year, but he's definitely got a lot of warts.

Damn, I know there was rumors earlier, but I can't believe it would actually happen. Not sure of a precedent for such a young amazing player to be traded? Maybe a Chris Sale was the last one? Machado doesn't count since he was in half a season.

Marte is 31 years old with an injury history. As dynamic and amazing of a talent he is (Mookie Betts lite?) I'd be worried about him. The pirates need to trade him, and if it's a reasonable cost I'd suggest we go for it, but I wouldn't be given up anything super valuable. He could just as easily be out half the year next year with an injury.

Sounds like we might have a decent turn out. This is better than I expected. We will let the thread marinate for another day or so and then I'll start to reach out to people individually and get some opinions on set up and buy in.

It would have to be a buy-in to motivate all managers to stay active and so we could have some reward :). Ideally this league would stay within SoxTalk also so we can all post here if need be.

Hi SoxTalk friends, Last year I tried gauging interest in setting up a fantasy baseball league, but there wasn't much interest. Figured I'd try to give it a go again here. We can talk about the details of a potential league once we have enough managers. What I am looking for is at worst 8 managers (in which case we'd likely do an AL only league) or at best 14 managers. I don't want anything larger nor anything smaller. This would potentially be a dynasty league meaning it would be something we keep going on the site for years to come. I am aware of a large 30 team fantasy league that also goes on in this site, however, I'm looking for a smaller more intimate league that's more based here on SoxTalk. Let me know if there's any interest and then we can talk about the nitty gritty. Cheers.

The thing that's nice about Villar is he's on a one year deal. So a team like the White sox, which should have an insane amount of room financially speaking, could grab him with no problem and have it not effect us later on. If we do bad this year, maybe we trade him for a nice prospect at the deadline.

So I haven't posted in here in a little under a year. WWE sucks, it's just downright horrid. The month building up to the saudia arabia crown jewel house show was it's downfall. I knew to stop watching then and it hasn't gotten any better into survivor series. Survivor series sucked, but now we *should* start to get some storylines developing finally after the Saudia Arabia bullshit that they promote.
