  2. Drafting relievers is a retarded move. Alot of relievers in the majors are just failed starters.

    QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) I'm giving up country music. Big loss, right?
  4. How is that a rumor? That is the contract.
  5. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) bahaha look at Kaz Tadano What page is it?
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Abreu is a great base stealer too, 40 sb only 5 cs last season. 88%. He is a good base stealer for the type of hitter he is. He has 210 steals and 69 times he was caught. Beltran has 192 steals and has only be caught 23 times. His rookie year he was caught the most time of his career, eight times.
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) The naysayers are missing the point completely. Pods + Iggy - speed Dye + Koney + Everett OR Thomas + Koney + Dye - power Rowand + Uribe - speed AJ + Crede - power It doesn't matter whether Koney, AJ, Thomas, & Crede are slow. What matter is the mix the speed & power. It does 2 things for: 1 - stretches weak hits w RISP into runs 2 - reduces GIDPs 3 - puts more pressure on pitches & middle IFers But since you are so hell bent on the subject here are the players as they rank speed wise: 1-Pods 2-Iggy 3-Rowand 4-Uribe 5-Dye 6-Crede/Everett 7-Thomas/Crede 8-AJP 9-Koney There is better speed on the bench: Timo > Dye Gload > Crede Davis > Rowand Harris > Rowand The team is deep when it comes to both pinch hitting & running. You did not just say davis is faster than rowand and that pierz is a power guy now did you?
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Pods is going to be fun to watch. I dont expect him to steal 70 but maybe 60. He gets great reads and is very fast. He isnt as fast as some guys but he is the smartest base stealer in the league. I would say beltran is the smartest base stealer as much as i think he is overated. He has been safe over 90% of the time in his career. That is just about as good as it gets.
  9. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) We won't just be the fastest team in the ALC, we might be the fastest team in MLB. Seeing that you're not very good at protecting the base pads I think you should be the last team to think you'll beat the 05 Sox. I know you said ''we might'' be the fastest team in the majors but we are not.
  10. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 07:14 AM) OK, it's only Canseco, but according to ProSportsWeekly this morning, there's a NY Daily News article that will be explosive: "You've never seen Jose Canseco like this: Huddled in a bathroom stall at the Oakland Coliseum, jabbing a hypodermic needle into Mark McGwire's bare behind... In "Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits and How Baseball Got Big" Canseco claims he personally injected some of the biggest names in baseball - including Rafael Palmiero, Juan Gonzalez and Ivan Rodriquez, among others - with performance enhancing drugs." OMG, the lawyers are gonna get rich over the lawsuits, I would think. We did you get the article that says he personally injected them? I have found this article. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/278255p-238313c.html
  11. QUOTE(BamaDoc @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) I have not seen him in action. What allows him to steal so well? Blinding speed, great reads, great acceleration or some combination of the above? Good lead-offs, very fast, and he is not hesitant to steal.
  12. QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 05:52 AM) I've been looking for a list to see which players might be available come the trade deadline. Thanks. But this group better than 2004?! Even as it stands, with guys who will probably will be signed before they become Free agents [hudson, sheets, berkman, PK] 2005 looks weaker compared to this yr. The crop of pitchers compared with 2004 may only be a draw, as the SP's in particular were deep. The position players for 2005 are very, very weak though. You are right. When i was originally looking at the list i saw a whole bunch of guys with option year, guardado, looper, izzy, walker, kotsay, etc and was thinking for some reason that they were all free agents. Which they are not. Relievers are much, much deeper next off-season that this past. That is why if we lose takatsu ( don't think we will) i will not be that hurt because of all the good help out there.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) This is going to get interesting ... and very nasty. I thought the mlb was gonna be able to pay him off. But in all honesty i do not mind having a clue some what of who else to steoids besides the obvious canidates. I mean who really would put on palmiero and i-rod in their lists of players they thought who took steroids. If true, i-rod really shocks me.
  14. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) The problem right now is that Hinrich shoots the most on the team, and he's slumping, that's it in a nutshell. Especially bad since he is not one of the better shooters on the team. He thinks he is a shooting guard but far from it. No reason he shoots the most shots each night. It should be either curry or gordon night in night out. Maybe skiles will learn hinrich is not all that good of shooter sooner rather than late?

    Crede

    QUOTE(striker62704 @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) I heard an interview with Greg Walker that said he thought Crede would have an even worse season. Walker said he'd be suprised if Crede hit .200 with 15 hrs. Am i the only one that thought this was sarcasm?
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Feb 5, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) I wouldnt go so far as saying he is bad in RF. He is definitely nowhere close to as good as most people think though. He has a frickin cannon but he made 9 errors last year. By that logic rowand is a bad fielder since he had eight errors right?
  17. Free agent list. I definitely think it is better than this past year. http://www.mlb4u.com/0506FA.html
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) To say that Crede is one of the slowest guys in the league imo, is way off. He can score from second on a single once in awhile. Once in a while? That is not good enough.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) We were tied for first in the MLB in 2004. We hit 242, what f***ing difference will it make if we "only" hit 215-225 this season? We improved our bullpen, starting rotation, speed and defense. I wonder how many more we would have hit if we had both ordonez and thomas healthy for the secod half of last year. Could probally add at least another 15-20 more homeruns?
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Crede isn't that slow. Aj and Pauly are snails and Frank while definitely slow isn't Pauly slow. Crede is that slow. You watching a different crede than me? Frank might be even slower after coming back from the surgery. When i think of a speed team i think of a team that can go from first to third almost at will. That is not gonna be the white sox in 2005.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Im not so sure we are going to lose that many runs. This team is built around speed with some punch in the middle of the lineup. We will still score alot of runs this year. When we are at full strength we have four of the slowest players in the league if not all of baseball. It is not a guarantee when someone hits a single that pierz, crede, konerko, or thomas will score from second. Sometimes i wonder if konerko will be able to score if he was on first and someone hit a triple.
  22. QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Homes= LOST LEE enough Said. Who lost their homes?
