  1. Happy Birthday to the 2nd coolest little green guy in this site.
  2. Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusion II. I remember buying that CD for the sole purpose that I heard You Could Be Mine in Terminator 2. I was so hooked to that film (and the song) that I went to Circuit City and used my allowance money to buy that CD.

    TV In Your Bedroom?

I have a 32 inch Memorex TV in my bedroom hooked up to my cable box, PS2, and VHS player. When off of school I go to my local video store, rent a crap load of movies, and watch them in my bedroom. Without my own TV, who knows how I’d react.
  4. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Oh heck, in Martial Arts films give me: Bruce Lee Jet Li Benny "The Jet" Urquidez Brandon Lee (watch Rapid Fire, he learned a TON from dad and Dan Innosanto) Jackie Chan Sonny Chiba Pretty much in that order also. How can you forget Donnie Yen, Gordon Liu, and David Chiang? Don’t get me started with martial art artist’s. . .
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) Chuck Norris would kick the s*** out of Bruce Lee. He doesn't get a spot. Yeah, okay. Way of the Dragon says it all.
  6. Buster Olney writes in his article about the signing of Tavarez. Whether it was a good signing for the Red Sox or not. I agree that he could be a bust for the Sawx. He can’t control his temperament on the mound and a place like Boston won’t help. Last season, after the All-Star Break, he posted an ERA over 5 with opponents batting .317 against him. Granted that he’ll start with a fresh ERA this season and all that, he will be pitching in the AL and will be facing teams with better offenses.
  7. http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=397710 Sammy currently has 588 HR's. He wants to surpass 660 HR's (72 to go). I don't think playing in Kennedy Stadium will help. Oh, and if he does sign with the Nats, he is likely to play LF for them.
  8. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) According to this article, the Giants' rotation is about set. The Astros could use another starter with Clemens' decision up in the air. This is why I doubt that they will trade Backe. So maybe they would trade for El Duque but... El Duque + Crawford Boxes = :puke I don’t think the Astros are that desperate. They saw Orlando pitch in the World Series and they saw him get himself into some jams. Everyone knows that El Duque is done. Unless someone needs a pitcher just to fill a hole in the 25-man roster, than that team would take him and that team are the D’Backs. El Duque will stay/end in the desert.

  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 07:08 AM) I have to confess that I no idea what kind of numbers of players were involved in this. And I have to confess that I didn’t know Javier Vasquez was in the WBC.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Only literally. Yes! Yes! To Milkman you listen! To make it clear for some of you: My spirit lives on, DAMMIT!
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Which, in fact, is a downgrade from the swamp where you used to reside. I was getting a bit lonely at the Dagobah System and ever since the Galactic Empire was destroyed, I thought it was safe to come to a place where I could socialize with people.
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...anish/index.jsp Check out the right of the banner. I just noticed your post Greasy and thanks for that. It’s just that when you say LosMediasBlancas it doesn’t sound right at all. When I see the sports news in Spanish they always say LasMediasBlancas which is why I always wondered why the guy from Soxtalk (LosMediasBlancas) had an o instead of an a. But now that he explained it to me, I understand.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Grammatically, you are correct. In Spanish everything has gender and socks, or Sox, are feminine and so it should be 'Las'. But in order to imply that the members of the team are male, you break the rule and use 'Los'. I see. Makes sense.
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Like all Latino Americans who refuse to learn the English language, I feel that all of SoxTalk should cater to me. Go figure out what my name means then change all of your screen names to Spanish so that I know what they mean. Isn’t it supposed to be LasMediasBlancas? As for my name... plain and simple. I am the greatest Jedi Master (one of only two Jedi that survived the destruction of the Jedi caused by a young pupil that went by the name of Darth Vader) and am currently living in Gary.
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) He kept a series record of the White Sox in '05 in his sig, so he definitely has. True that. Still, he’s probably the only one that doesn’t change much. I, myself, am trying to stick with the F. Garcia and Yoda sig that Goldy made for me before the season even started.
  17. mreye is a good example of having to stick with your username, avatar, and sig. I’ve been here for almost two years and the man has never changed anything. Though I do admit that I never get tired of seeing that little green eyed monster from Monsters Inc. BTW, this is a question for mreye himself: Have you ever clicked the My Controls option?
  18. Damn. I forgot to make my picks for this past weekend. :banghead Hopefully I’ll be around to make my picks for this upcoming weekend.
  19. What do you think about avatars (the picture under your user name)? Are they a big part of your daily dose of posting? When you see one, do you attribute that certain person... as to how they are? For instance, do you judge the person if they’re a guy or a gal because of the type of image they have in their avatar? I’m just curious.
  20. The poster above me has a sig with possibly the best third basemen to play in White Sox history. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) ^^^ likes yoda... /too easy
  21. My weekend was laaaaaame. As a 16-year-old teen, I am dying to go to a party. It’s been like 4 months since I last went to one.
  22. The poster above me has the user name of a coach who managed the 1919 Black Sox.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 8, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) I dunno. I happen to like the Nats rotation quite a bit, but a lot of that has to do with the park they're in. Hernandez-Patterson-Armas-Ortiz-Lawrence/Drese is pretty solid up and down, and they do have some depth in the rotation, which is a pretty big advantage. I think Ortiz is about ready to have a huge year in a great park for him to pitch in. Well, if you want to judge a starting rotation in the NL East (or the pitching staff as a whole) do to the park that they’re pitching in, than every team might have a plus because home field can be an advantage. The Braves have Turner Field, The Mets have Shea Stadium, The Nats (like you’ve mentioned already) have Kennedy Stadium, and even the Marlins play in a pitchers park, Dolphin Stadium. But we all know that the Marlins won’t be competing this season. That only leaves the Phillies who play in Citizens Bank Park, which can be a good extra base-hit park for some hitters. Pretty good parks for some pitcher’s to pitch in if you ask me. Now regarding your assessment of Ramon Ortiz, I agree. He had a good year back in 02 with the Halos. I remember seeing him with a pretty good slider, but somehow he still hasn’t put it together since. IMO, he can be a solid starter.
  24. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) Benson is not that good and Glavine is way past his prime. Pedros great but Glavine-Benson as 2-3 starters is not very good. Their offense is very strong individually but well have to see how they produce together. Like I said, in the division that they’re in, NL East, Glavine and Benson isn’t bad. Unless Glavine starts to falter like Maddux has, then the Mets rotation won’t get much production. Glavine has still shown that he can go out there and post a pretty decent ERA. He’ll give you innings, he won’t strike out many, but he does get outs. The Nats have a front rotation of L. Hernandez, John Patterson, and Tony Armas. Hernandez is a workhorse, but was hit hard in some of his starts last season and ended up with a high whip. The Phillies have Jon Lieber, Brett Myers, and Cory Liddle. Myers has some nasty stuff, but giving up the longball was a problem for him. Only rotation that I believe could top the Mets are the Braves. Smoltz, Hudson, Sosa, Hampton, and Thomson. Jorge Sosa looked very impressive last season and he must show the organization that all of it was no fluke. Hampton and Thomson must stay healthy in order for the Braves to be competitive. That’s how I see the rotations for the NL East. The division is a toss up between the Mets and the Braves. With the “big moves” that Omaya has done, they should stop the reign that Atlanta has had the past decade or so.
