  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Bring in the lefty to face Alex Gordon (in order to try and get the big out BEFORE Butler bats). Then you're burning Myers for 2/3 of an inning in a pen that is already overworked. Besides, if the lefty doesn't get Gordon out, he has to face Butler.
  2. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Robin continues to be really, really dense when it comes to the pen. What should he have done?
  3. Bench needs in order 1 A bat 2 a pinch runner 3 third catcher 4 reliever apart from Santiago
  4. Probably was warmed up, might as well bring Myers in.
  5. 5-run lead do you dare bring in Nate Jones?
  6. Walker should be considered as a pinch-runner.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) It's a great problem to have if Viciedo is swinging the bat well. Yep. At the very least he's giving you plus defense in these bigger parks. I think that alone could win the Sox a game over the next 6 weeks.
  8. Liked the Ventura hire from the beginning, but I refuse to pile on Guillen. His time was clearly up, but he was the right hire at the right time. He won a World Series.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Where is he gonna play when Paulie is back? I am fine with him playing every so often. I think he should play 1/2 the time against right-handers. I like his speed in the bigger OF's like Toronto, KC, and Detroit.
  10. Wise is a better pick up than Ichiro. Should be in the lineup on a somewhat regular basis from here on out.
  11. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:29 PM) No s*** Cowley. He is capable of more than 3 innings a week though. History says different Caesar.
  12. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) Monday morning QB? What are you talking about? Pretty much everyone on here prays they dont put Matt in. We don't need more than one set up man neither. Most teams have one. We have 2. Myers and Crain. Myers threw 3 pitches. Crain can't pitch every day. 3 innings a week tops if you want him to last he rest of the year..
  13. At some point, you have to get outs from someone other than Crain and Myers. In other words, Thornton has to be used in this situation.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) Exactly, he over-managed. Also, the fact that Escobar leads their team with 15 double plays hit into and Cooper's hit into one was why I was hoping they'd walk him there. If Nate Jones is pitching to Escobar they still lose this game.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) The handling of Leyson has doomed him Leyson Septimo's are a dime a dozen.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) We have two solid setup guys in Myers and Crain. Unless you're the Texas Rangers, you don't have that. You gotta live with inconsistent relievers. Crain is a 3-inning a week pitcher.
  17. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) We need a loogy We need a better right-handed relief option than Jones.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) +100000000000000000 Lots of bad decisions being made with this bullpen, and it's costing the Sox games. The pen has a lot of holes that you can't manage around on a daily basis.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) He was brought into a terrible situation there. If you mean pennant race in mid-August, you're right.
  20. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) Just me of should Rios have been playing shallower? If they hit the ball as deep as he was standing the game was over anyway.. I agree with this.
  21. They need a hitter on that bench.
  22. I don't understand why the Sox are willing to give away so many AB's with Viciedp in such a tight race in August.
  23. They have to find a LF'er who puts Viciedo on the bench, its the easiest way to upgrade the team.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 10:31 PM) But who exactly are we going to get? We never made Dunn or Rios platoon players despite their struggles last year, it doesn't seem to be the answer to do that to a 23 year old if we want him to develop for the future. The White Sox have been playing so well at home recently because of home runs, mostly. Putting Juan Pierre in LF is not only going to be pointless, it will scare Matt Thornton from ever pitching again in the 9th inning if Juan is out there. Player development takes a very distant back seat to post season baseball. In August and September that shouldn't even enter the discussion for a right-thinking franchise. Laugh all you want about Pierre, but slot his .381 obp behind De Aza and the lineup becomes more formidable.
