You are also assuming Garland wants to play for the Sox again, and I would say that is a big, fat, no.

The problem with this team isn't base-stealing speed. The problem is 1st to 3rd or 2nd to home. That's the kind of speed we need, not Owens, not Taveras, but more like Quentin or Anderson. If they steal a base, great...but taking an extra base is more important with this team.

Here's what we should be looking for in any trade idea... Carlos Quentin. These are the types of players Kenny looooves to trade for. The ones with HUGE upsides that are either blocked at the bigs, deemed injury risks or the organization is just down on. Look at some of the players he's brought in that qualify: Quentin Dye Pierzynski Konerko (although I can't remember if it was him or Schu for PK) Vaz Contreras Floyd Uribe
