I was wondering when they would open a spot for the Hawkaroo.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:41 AM) People are missing the KW boat here. Every single trade deadline, we are literally linked to every single possible person. A few days before the deadline, x trade is about to go down. And its never the person we think. Hopefully we get something. Because we need it. this is actually a great thing for the White Sox. Because Kenny is so good at flying under the radar, he, and the White Sox, are linked to EVERY big player, which, I would imagine, throws off all the other GMs of teams in contention. will the WS get Soriano? No? Maybe they are going for Zito. No? Could Abreu be the player? No? Possibly someone no one has thought of yet? If I were Dombrowski or Ryan or Cashman or Epstein or any other contending teams GM, I would be going crazy trying to figure out who the White Sox MAY trade for. PS...this is about the time last year the White Sox woke up...when they were only a game or so in front...keep the faith.

Possibly coming home to the Chi August 18th- 21st Munich for Oktoberfest in mid-Sept. and...that's probably it until the holidays.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of pissed off people if Soriano ends up getting traded to the Tigers in the next week. So many people got their hopes up, and they never took a step back to realize how a trade like this would really work out for the Sox. I think it would depend on what the Tigers had to give up. If they gave one of their young pitchers or Zumaya, yeah, people would be pissed, but that doesn't necessarily make the Tigers better. Personally, if we acquire Soriano, we aren't keeping him, that's just my take. I could be wrong. But, I could see a three-way deal to get some big-time pitching help AND lose some of the dead weight. As I've said before, In KW I Trust...my 2005 World Series DVD set tells me so.

I don't think people really mean "flipping," it would be more of a three-way trade, which is kinda like flipping. How about getting R. Soriano and Ibanez? Don't know Ibanez' contract situation, but he would fill in nicely for Pods in left next year. JMO.

QUOTE(BoKnows @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) doubt this is worth anything, but Harry on Mac Jurko & Harry said he just heard a report that a deal for Soriano for Pods and Vazauez was in the works. unlikely, but if that's the deal, pull the trigger Kenny! Bowden would get booted right into the Potomac for that trade. Unless it includes some high-level prospects.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Whether the deal is dead or alive, I think I may have been the first on this post to say there was no way KW was trading McCarthy for a rental. So what's out there instead? I think Bowden's going to find that the price for Soriano is not all that high at the end of the day. The Yanks won't part with Phillip Hughes, and otherwise have nothing to offer. Bill Stonemen of the Angels is values his prospects too much to give any of them up -- and probably doesn't know which of them are just potential and which ones can really play. Dombrowski is sitting on a 6-1/2 game lead and needs a lefty hitter, not a right handed guy who strikes out and doesn't walk a lot. His whole team is filled with such players. So, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with Soriano, but for a price that would include Podsednik and pitching prospects who are not on the ML club (Sean Tracey?). The Nats need guys who will be players in 3-5 years, when the new stadium will come on line. Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back. What Kenny has is this thought: We don't NEED him. We can probably make a deal without him, it just won't be as big.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Yeah, I have started working on that, at least at the basic stages. I already started getting involved with groups like the YMCA on the committee level, and working on trying to rub elbows with some of the people in the community. It ought to be interesting, because there aren't that many republicans in my area, but at the sametime, lots of my ideas for Michigan City, aren't very conservative either. PS I saw in your PM you mentioned REx, but I know he is in Brazil for a while... Funny fact, we are both from the same hometown, so I do plan on talking to him a bit when he gets back. We have had some good conversations about MC over the years. I see the slogan now... Southsider2K5: 41,555 posts can't be wrong! OR Southsider2K5: Drunk with Power!!!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) From what I know the only way McCarthy goes is if Kenny finds out the Tigs have a deal on the table. If they do, Kenny will at least consider jumping on the deal. However, whats going on is obvious...Nats want Brandon, Sox are countering and the question is whether a team like the Tigers, Angels, Dodgers, or Twins are ready to jump in and make a deal that beats the Sox counter. I think the Nats are looking to get this move done shortly so that they can focus on moving Livan and Jose Guillen next and that we'll see something completed in the next 36 hr's. The Tigers are going to have to give up Humberto...I forgot his last name...and/or Zumaya...maybe even one of their other young pitchers like Verlander or Robertson...so what if KW has shown his hand...now the Tigers KNOW what it is going to take and they may not be willing to take that step. The White Sox and KW just did what the Yankees did for years...drive up the price, the only difference is: The White Sox weren't dumb enough to actually follow through and pay for it (at least I hope not *fingers crossed*).

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) So certain are you. He may have a good future, we'll see. Yeah and what about Braodway, Phillips, and Haeger? Not including our crop we drafted this year. I know they are a couple of years away, but as been said before, they are prospects until they do something in the majors. Remember some of our other can't-misses: Rauch, Kip Wells, Ruffcorn, even Baldwin to a point. Who knows what Kenny's got in mind, but In Kenny I Trust...my 2005 World Series DVD says so.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Some mate's are playing their first gig this weekend, I resurrected the name of a band I was in when I was much younger; Eddie Hernia and the Surgical Tweezers. I hope they last longer than we did, if you can imagine a cross between The Cure and Pink Floyd, you'd be part way there. I was in the middle of my depression cycle at the time, lyrics along the lines of, " I hung myself with the telephone cord, because you were never in." and "Cough me up , go on and cough me up, I am the hairball to your love."............................Happy times. THAT...IS...AWESOME!!! I love the 80's depression-rock. Some of the most ridiculous lines ever, and yet, they touched my very soul. Will the Local Media Shut Up about the Cubs

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) But we all know if the Sox were the 3rd or 4th worst team in baseball that they'd get almost no coverage. Double standard. I don't mean to be snarky but...it's called life. This is what makes us Sox fans...we are the perpetual underdogs, the "leftover fans" in Chicago, the blue collar, hard-working, hold our team to a higher standard fan. It's not that Rowand or Heads don't care, it's that, what difference does it make. Think of it this way...we make fun of David Hasselhoff for his crappy German/Australian videos and say, "Oh, he is a no-talent hack." But what does he do? He goes home to his mansion and rolls around in piles of money and says, "yeah...and?" Seriously, next time everyone feels neglected or overlooked by the Chicago or even National Media...do a google search on 2005 World Series Champions and just smile. -
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) Crede & Konerko are good second half guys-AJ is steady, Dye having career year-only Thome a lock NOT to end up .300 The strange thing is NONE of these guys get any infield hits No, but Thome walks...a lot! That's why I think he, AJ and Dye will all be above .300 at year end. Konerko will be in the .290s.

QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) I don't know how many more times I can hear Hawk say we are the best team in baseball. No, we're not, Detroit is right now. I really like Hawk, but I wish he would give some insight instead of spewing company lines. Does Kenny or Jerry prep him before he gives an interview? I almost wish we had Steve Stone in the broadcast booth, at least he is not afraid to tell it like it is. Not to sound like a homer myself, but until someone beats us...we are the best team in baseball. That's what winning the World Series gets you. AND, even though we've lost 5 of 6, we STILL have the second best record in baseball right now. FYI...

Riccardi would be run out of town on a rail. A RAIL!!! Not a chance. If they are out of it next year, that being his contract year...then maybe, but not this year.

Best advice I ever got...be prepared to walk. If it's not what you want...leave. One of two things will happen, the salesman will make the deal...or they won't and you go somewhere else where they can... Within reason of course.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) Well, the Fluffy Cloud contingent might actually start to see that the clouds arent as white and fluffy as they look. Ive been worried for some time now ........ Last year, we ran away with the division unchecked. This year, Detroit has been there from Day 1, and now the Twinks are involved with their strong pitching. The SOX are a good team, no doubt. But unfortuneately, the AL is much tougher and there are slightly better teams than us, and the games we GAVE AWAY early are indeed hurting us now. Whoa...whoa...whoa...ran away with the division? Isn't this the same White Sox team that blew a 15 game lead in September? This is the same thing to me. The White Sox...as a team...went through a lull last year at the end of the year and it took a collective butt cheek squeezing to get out of it. And I think, with Ozzie as manager and Cooper as pitching coach, they will get this back in gear, whether that means putting MB and FG on the DL just to give them a little rest or if they work it out naturally, it will happen. Maybe not enough to get the division title, but it will get them the WC.

One question...and I don't know the answer to it... Why don't the other primarily Islamic countries give a piece of their country's to the Palestinians? Or even just absorb them into their country's by giving them automatic citizenship? OK, that's two questions...sorry.
