  1. And I don't care how many runs Garland allows as long as it's one run less than we've scored.
  2. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) Pods looks at a lot of first pitch strikes. As a leadoff hitter, that's his job...look at a lot of pitches.
  3. Honestly, who cares about the people switching...we want your children. OK, that sounded bad. But, we want the kids that will build our fan base for years to come. It's funny how it took a World Series win for Cubs fans to realize that their team sucks...shoot we Sox fans have known it FOR YEARS!
  4. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) /salute flag Just don't burn it.
  5. Jan Ullrich and Ivan Basso both booted from the Tour a day before it starts because of possible doping. Linky below: Whoops.
  6. MAN, I hated Randy Walker, but only because his Wildcats were better than my Illini. He seemed like a classy, decent man, and this is horrible for the NU program but most of all his family. RIP Randy and our hearts go out to your family. Just curious, but didn't he have some health problems a couple of years ago?
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) Wins wise, this is true. According to most every other stat though, Santana has been the best pitcher in baseball since mid last season. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is wins. SABRmetrics is great and all, but baseball is more than stats, it's all the intangibles.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:28 AM) I don't know if it meant anything or not, but Mitsubishi's last two outings were very impressive. I was scared when he came out for the 7th last night, but he looked damned good. Hopefully that means we found yet another diamond in the rough, but I am glad to see Cliff back at the sametime. Never underestimate the power of the Coop.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) And if we get Torres, we'll have 2/3 of the Kings of Israel in our bullpen. Any relievers named Saul around the league? Solomon, Saul and Bobby?
  10. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) Protecting symbols are important. I mean what if god forbid some one put an american flag on a shirt, and that shirt was then sullied. What would we do as a society, when such an affront happened. I have a feeling that the first time someone gets arrested for wearing American flag boxer shorts, the GOP may think twice about this amendment.
  11. But she's wearing work out pan......ooooohhhhh... Ick.
  12. QUOTE(bmags @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) what does GBP 2.2 million mean. Great Britain Pounds instead of USD (United States Dollars).
  13. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Beatrice Hall most likely actually took that from Voltaire. But anyways this amendment died because a minority decided that they were going to stand up for the spirit of the constitution. I do not think this will harm many of the people who voted no, because if you look at where they are from it is mostly democrat strongholds. Anyways I will never vote for some one who voted yes for this amendment. Ms. Hall paraphrased Voltaire. Wiki I know it didn't go completely down party lines, but for the possible '08 candidates it did.
  14. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) I'm shocked that this idiotic proposed Ammendment came so close to passing. And I'm ashamed that so many Republicans voted in favor of it. I was watching the news last night on WGN and they were comparing the vote based on who could possibly run in 2008. Of course, all of the GOP candidates voted for the amendment and all the Dem candidates voted against. How about voting what you THINK?!?! No wonder Karl Rove has so much power...what a bunch of f'in morons!!! I mean, c'mon, this country is BUILT on the freedom to voice your displeasure (or celebrate)! ONE VOTE!!! That's ridiculous. I'd write my congressmen, but what are they going to do...read it? Please, they've got staffers that go through that and promptly shred 'em. I love this country and I don't like seeing my flag burned, but it's a symbol. If this amendment is EVER passed, it will cause a slippery slope that will see the disintegration of many more of our freedoms. And I hope, that if it is passed, that the Supreme Court doesn't vote partisan and shoots the damn thing down. Ugh, this just pisses me off. I'm so sick of these politicians voting for something because they might not get re-elected or might piss the party off. How about using your brain? QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) Spot on, Minors. I concur. To the Flag Burning Amendment! To bringing it back during each Congress! "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Evelyn Beatrice Hall
  15. In the immortal words of Michael Douglas in "The American President" All I have to say is partisanship sucks and I, for one, am sick of it.
  16. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:12 AM) Ah darn. I know Ozzie was pushing for him not to do it, but I hadn't heard anything from Thome himself. After what happened to Abreu last year, and this year, I don't want any White Sox players in the HR Derby. Abreu just wore himself out and it lasted the whole second half...
  17. Shouldn't the topic title be: Rush Busted...Ditto?
  18. You know, the more I think about it, and the more I read all of your responses, I have to say that each beer has it's place. Now, I wouldn't go out and buy some of those beers, but I also wouldn't turn them away if offered. I would go to Sheffields and drink Hubers and Schlitz and Pabst and Natty Light when it was the "Bad Beer of the Month." In college, the "red" beers were in style, Red Wolf, Red Dog, Killians Red and I drank them. Then, it was Ice beers, and I drank them. Then, it was Zima, and yes, I even drank that. If you are Fla-Jim or Chaos, both beer connosieurs, then there are measures and scales and compounds and things like that...but for little ol' me, give me Falstaff, Hamm's, Pearl, Lone Star, PBR and the Beast!
  19. Listening to Milton Mapes and What Made Milwaukee Famous... Both excellent bands, but I have to divulge that I know members of both bands.
  20. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Helllllooooooo, they have Corn Fest, I would think that you, of all people, would appreciate CORN FEST! Only when it's canned! There used to be a bar called Amnesia, don't ask me where it is, but I remember they had reverse cover nights, I think on Wednesday's, where they gave you a dollar to come in and then they had dollar beers. And, it was a place to "scam" the chicks, ergo Scamnesia.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) There is a quote in the Chic Trib today from Dombrowski that they are NOT working on a deal for Abreu FWIW. Posturing. I'm sure they approached the Phillies. Maybe even made an offer, but to quote a phrase...where would he play? I doubt he'd want to DH. Do they put him in left? Do they trade one of their young outfielders to make room? I don't know...I doubt they do it.
  22. Bobby Jenks for his 100 mph fast ball and 583 reps in the 12 oz curl. He woulda done more, but he fell off the chair.
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) Good to see somebody get it. I've seen every movie Barry Sobel has ever done. Word to your mother. I'm his mother, word to me.
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 06:19 AM) In quite a few papers tonight; Good call. Jae Seo was also sent to the D-Rays.
