  1. Dear Bill "The Sports Guy" Simmons, Pot. Meet kettle. Love, Can
  2. This is the definition of team...one guy falters, the next one picks him up. Now let's go back to back.
  3. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) Javy's given up two runs. So what. It's our offense that's stinking up the joint today. they did yesterday, until the end...and it'll happen again today.
  4. looks like Javy closed the door that time...wasn't his fault.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) Ozzie has to be the best interview in baseball. Funny stuff. He could post here, if he wasn't so damn optimistic. He'd be f***in' baninated almost immediately.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) Have you seen his close and late? .167 BA and .746 OPS! That is absolutely wretched, there's no reason for Jim Thome to ever bat after the 6th inning, you might as well imediately pinch hit Pablo Ozuna for him the second you hit the 7th, Pabs is sporting a .522 BA and a SICK 1.238 OPS in close and late situations. WOW...just WOW. Are you kidding me? I understand the number, but COME ON!!! I think Thome has EARNED the right to continue past the 6th inning.
  7. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) We got two of them. I'm good. I just hope the Royals don't go on a tare as we roll into town. That would suck huge. Tell me this...how come the Royals can handle the Twins like spanked monkeys, and we can't even give them a good game, 'cause they own us. I just hope we're at least 3 games ahead of them when we go into Minny. Possibly because KC has NOTHING to play for except pride and to be a spoiler. Yeah...I think that's it. Let's keep it goin'! /snark
  8. Mark Buehrle is the key. As LV said, as Mark goes, so goes the Sox. He keeps the team on its toes and keeps them in the games mentally.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Bottom line...Delmon had nothing to do with the Sox. I find it ironic that Ozzie is trying to act as the sheriff for moral play. Also, they did throw at AJP last night. The question that will never be answered is this: If Delmon Young came up against another team, would they have thrown at him? I think yes...but like I said, we'll never know. PS...EVERYONE throws at AJ.
  10. He would be a top player in this league and much more well known, if he hadn't gotten hurt as much earlier in his career. Or if he stayed on the Royals. The MVP of this year...and every year, if you ask me is Herm Schneider. But Dye's damn good too.
  11. Ozzie is a player's manager and wants players to play the game right. Delmon Young did not play the game right. He got 50 games for it. And when he got to the majors, he got hit by a man that won't tolerate anything like that AND will take the heat for his players in just a situation like this. Maddon, the Rays coach, is just giving this thing lip service...if he was that upset about it, then he woulda hit someone on the Sox...but he didn't. How telling is that? Bottom line, stuff like this is solved on the field and left on the field. Done and...done.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) 67 year old luxembourgeoise grandma living with 24 cats in Toronto. I had luxembourgeoise once...a dab of penicillin cleared it right up.
  13. I hate to see anyone get hurt, but I think this is a good thing for the White Sox. The lineup is definitely weaker, but maybe this will make the White Sox manufacture runs. One less home run hitter to rely on for a couple of days. Long term, we NEED Thome, but to break out of this mini-slump, this may change the mindset of the White Sox before he comes back... ...and yes, I know Thome being out doesn't change the fact that some of our pitchers are strug-a-ling.
  14. Once again: DEFENDING...WORLD...SERIES...CHAMPIONS. And until someone else wins...that is our moniker. Would some of you rather be Pirates fans? Royals fans? Wouldn't you rather be in second place contending for the wild card than watching a game because there's nothing else to do? I want the White Sox to win every year too, but it's more fun to contend with the possibility of making the playoffs than sucking every year and having false hope every Spring Training. This team is built to win for a couple more years...who woulda known that the Tigers would be playing out their arses? Or that the Twins would overcome a miserable start? Please people, I'm going to my first game this weekend...I missed all of last year (live in Texas, couldn't get up there)...don't b**** and complain until the season's over. Geez, it's like we're the frickin' Cubs or something the way some of you talk...
  15. What this country likes to do is tear it's heroes down and then cheer them when they come back. So, anytime we, as a nation, can find something wrong or completely misguided with a candidate, athlete, entertainer, etc., we will jump on it. But, if that person comes back strong. Maybe with a new way of thinking or a new outlook on life or they've just learned to shut their big yapper, we will jump on that too.
  16. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) I love "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." (can't get the damn picture to work ) I've used this as a motto to live by for quite some time. Whenever something incredibly stupid happens, like a horrendous law getting passed, a ridiculous poll result, or a Cubs' protest, I say, "There's the SPILG factor for you." Despair.com is out of Austin and I got to play poker with one of the founders of the company. He's kind of a nerd, but he is hilarious. And a horrific poker player.
  17. Palm Desert: Today's desert is tomorrow's beachfront! Good luck on the move, my man.
  18. I understand everyone wanting to win year after year, but COME ON!!! This team is in first place for the wild card and would be first place in the division if the Tigers weren't playing out of their arses. For the love of all that's holy...we are the WORLD CHAMPIONS until someone else wins. And we aren't out of it yet. Can you just all let it rest. Jeebus.
  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) McCarthy wasn't needed on the ML roster this year the way he was used. The Sox should have kept him in the minors STARTING. Stupid use of him this year. I disagree completely...this is exactly the way the White Sox brought Buehrle along in 2000. Let him get a taste of the big leagues, they can stretch him out over the winter and in Spring Training.
  20. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Amen! I respect most of them as well. The worst I ever saw was a cop, off duty, driving his family around. The wife was in the front passenger seat with a toddler on her lap. I didn't realize Kevin Federline was a cop.
  21. You know what has been chapping the ol' hide lately...performance reviews...or lack thereof. I did my self review June 6th...i STILL haven't had my review yet. Pay raises, if I get one, are retroactive to April 15th. APRIL 15TH!!! I've missed 9 paychecks already! That's a 1/3 of the year! And then we get an email today about doing our timesheets and getting our expense reports in on time. Wow. I am in awe of the stupidity. You see, when you ask for things in a timely manner...and you aren't providing things in a timely manner...that's kinda annoying. Solution: I'm going to give them to the end of the week, cuz that's the end of the next pay cycle. Then the demands begin...and hopefully I'll be able to end the End of Year Party Video with the following: CanofCorn:
