QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) I was. I meant to say Lavar Arrington. I think you meant Trev Alberts.

Alrighty then, Mr. General Manager of WTWO in Terre Haute. If you think the network is strong arming you...stop being an affiliate. AND, God forbid a minister or any man/woman of God has problems like everyone else. They might be a vessel of God...but they aren't God, people.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Great points PA. Trenchcoat mafia kids were looking for acceptance within a similar but oppressed peer group. But at the same time, some kids are so chemically imbalanced that they are equally as insane. Its almost impossible to tell the difference from the surface. On your second point. Even though I dont believe in being "gay" without choice, I still have good friends who are gay, and I do not treat them with disrespect, nor do I discriminate against other memebers of the group. There are people who are gay that are good people, and there are bad people that are straight. Your sexuality has nothing to do with why people should respect you IMO. The "Choice", as you put it, comes in when the homosexual person has to decide if he/she is going to actually live that life. The drama teacher in my high school was married for 25 years and had two kids before he came out of the closet. Was he always homosexual? Yes. Did he choose to live that life? Not for a very long time. Personally, I believe that it is genetic in some way.

Don't know if this has been posted, but the Astros are talking about signing Preston Wilson. Who has played CF for most of his career. This doesn't mean they will keep him in CF...but it's interesting since we've been talking about Taveras a lot here lately. Houston Chronicle

I love the fact that they allowed Flutie to do it...but I don't like the backlash... "Bill Belichick is a true genius and student of the game." Blah, blah, blah.....

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) I'd take Widger over Olivo for 2006 in a heartbeat. There's a reason Olivo has gone from Chicago to Seattle to San Diego to Florida in just a couple of seasons. He has a cannon hanging from shoulder, but there is something missing. Yeah, that round thing above his cannon-dangling shoulders.

Resolution #1: Not to make resolutions. Resolution #2: See resolution #1.

I have a feeling that Vince Young is coming back next year no matter what happens. Scouts still don't like his throwing motion and I think he wants to win that Heisman. Just a gut feeling. I hope the Bears get Brandon Williams from Wisconsin.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) It was always nice to go there for a lunch break with my dad. First, Marshall Field's now this. All of these great Chicago institutions are going away..... At least Berghoff's was a family decision to close. Not Macy's showing it has a bigger sack. Bastards. I hope people stop shopping there until they change the name back...or even better, sell it.

Happy Chanukah to all!!!

That line-up doesn't scare me at all. And besides Johan, either does their rotation (now that Cy Mays is gone).

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Today, it's 75. Nice. Tomorrow, we have a high fire danger warning. Humidity is supposed to be about 15% and temps near 70 with 30 mph winds. It's a tinderbox out there. Mid 60's Sunday, and 75 again on Monday and Tuesday. I think I'll go golfing. A couple of degrees warmer and many shades bluer down here in Austin!

To all of the people who asked me why I rarely dated Jewish girls growing up...see video. And by the way Jessie...you ARE a rich girl. PS. Three of my cousins had their Bar/Bat-Mitzvahs there and the Rabbi is our family Rabbi. FYI for those that care.

Bears sending six players to Pro Bowl
CanOfCorn replied to SSH2005's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
HOw important is Mike Brown? Take a look at the Steelers game. No Mike Brown and the Bus goes and runs over the Bears. The defense, while it still looked better than most teams, didn't look right. Against the Falcons, that was more about spying on Ron Mexico, which has more to do with Urlacher than Brown, but Dunn broke off a couple of runs that prolly wouldn't have happened with a healthy Mike Brown in there. And off subject...kudos to Mike Green for layin' out Michael Jenkins. Awesome. -
Samwise Gamgee out of Bears-Packers Game

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) Lol, thats what I always call him. This is a big loss, Gado was looking really good for the Pack and he sure looked good against us a couple weeks ago. I feel bad for Gado considering this guy was like a 3rd stringer on his hobunk college team. How the hell he made the NFL I'll never know. But once he got a shot he looked pretty good. Hard to root against guys like that. It was Liberty University...founded by Jerry Falwell. Liberty U. I guess his knee didn't have God on his side on Sunday. -
Kyle Orton out for the season.....

QUOTE(AirScott @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) Y-yeah...um, having drafted a receiver with the first pick three years in a row is why this team sucks. on first look, you'd think this would make it easier for Joey Harrington. but think a little more, and if he had used 2 of those picks anywhere on defense (they're weak everywhere) and improved the defense a little more, it would make it easier on Joey Harrington not having to play from behind all the time. even further, maybe all the pressure of having to perform well with 3 first round picks at receiver got to Harrington, too. but I'm leaning towards my first thought. Rogers is gone after this year. Harrington is a victim of something I call Heisman Flu. He believed the hype (as did the Lions) about how good he was. He's a servicable QB on a better team...just not that team. -
Oops, I meant Samkon Gado. Torn MCL. Per ESPN.
