  1. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) "At six, six... from the University of NORTH Carolina... MIIIIIIICHAEL JOOOORDAN!" damn, that still gives me goosebumps Not to be a jerk, but wasn't it: "At guard, from NORTH CAR-olina... MIIIIIIIICHAEL JOOOOORDAN!" Of course, you could never hear him anyway...so what diff does it make, it still gives me goosebumps too. Also: It's not really a sports call, but Wayne Messmer doing the National Anthem at the 1991 All-Star Game at the old Stadium, right after the Gulf War started was the best sports moment I've ever experienced.
  2. Not fair!!! I want to go to games...guess I'll have to go to Ameriquest Field... Go SOX!!!
  3. QUOTE(valponick @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) I'm heading out to the game tonight and I'm gonna buy some of the 2 for 1 upper deck seats. Do I still need a pepsi product like last year? Also, what parts of the park CAN'T I access with those tickets. I've never sat in the upper deck before, can I still get down onto the concourse? Can I get into the Bullpen Sports Bar? Where do the upper deck people get food? You will have one.
  4. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Yeah, weird. Plus he's hitting .370 so far. Wouldn't that be weird to be rooting for Carlos Lee, but it's not really Carlos Lee? But it really is Carlos Lee...or is it? Would his nickname be El Pequeño Caballo?
  5. What the...? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Sorry if this was posted before.
  6. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 3, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Anyone know something about this? I was just looking at the active roster on Chisox.com, and Jamie Burke is listed as a catcher. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...ve.jsp?c_id=cws Must be a mistake because they have 26 players on the roster.
  7. Well then, JR gets the Thick Skin Award!!!
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 3, 2005 -> 04:49 AM) To early. This is the third team I've heard that is either looking for or would listen. Cubs, Yankees, and to a much lesser extent, the Astros. It's never too early if you can find a trading partner...not that any of these teams match up.
  9. I'm torn over the 20 yo NBA entrance policy. Part of me thinks it's a great idea based on the Bulls. Why? Because Paxson drafted winners. Ben Gordon, Chris Duhon, Luol Deng (only a freshman, but older than an average freshman and worldly wise) all came from winning/top programs. They learned how to play from great coaches. They learned how to play in tough arenas. They learned how to play against tough competition. High school games can't compare to the Assembly Hall or Cameron or the Dean Dome or The Pit. And I think the Bulls model is going to attract copycats over the next couple of years... On the other hand, if these players don't want to go to college, who is the NBA to stop them? They are 18. They are adults. Maybe not mature enough, but is that the NBA's fault or job to babysit? It may water down the NBA and take up roster spots that someone else, like a Chris Duhon, would otherwise take, but that's for the GM to decide. Ultimately, I'd like to see a TRUE developmental league, either the CBA or the NBDL or whatever. Basically a minor league system with teams assigned to pro teams. Hijack over: I have a feeling if Scheyer went to Duke, he would disappear. I don't know why, but that's just the feeling I get. He would play a much bigger role at Illinois and I hope Weber's brother can give him the little kick in the pants it may take to get him to go there.
  10. Wow...it's really sad that whoever wrote this is right. Besides Halas, there hasn't been a better owner. But let's put this into perspective...if Halas is the standard (Halas = 100), JR still doesn't come anywhere close...I would give him a VERY generous 70. I see what this reporter is saying, but the best of worst still doesn't cut it.
  11. He's still living on that 20 SO game against the Astros, which, I might add, was still pretty impressive.

    Cousins Wed....

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ May 2, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) As for the marriage, If you favor gay rights for marriages then you must stand side by side to this same kind of behavior. Why would you say that? You're comparing apples and oranges. Now, if we were talking about gay cousins that want to marry...then Jerry Springer will have a show!!!!
  13. How does Allard Baird still have a job?

I believe it is legal in Illinois IF you either can't or are too old to have children. And to that I say...EEEEEWWWWWWW!!!! :puke
  15. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) on friday mac was telling people to call some advertising guy with AM1000... cause the guys at john chico's menswear have such great traffic from their am1000 ads... would you be pushing a station you're leaving???? Yes, I've heard commercials using dj's/talk show hosts AFTER they've been fired. Even AFTER they've moved out of town. As in, "Tell 'em [insert radio station call letters]'s [insert talk show host name] sent ya." As long as they are under contract or were under contract at the time, they pretty much have to do what they say. Unless you are Stern...
  16. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ May 2, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) I'm remember hearing some old interview by I think Ken Caminiti. He said that there are 3 or 4 guys on every team that DONT use greenies. In the interview or in a seperate discussion about it by former baseball players I remember them discussing if they were to ever get banned that they would have to cut the length of the season to around 115 games. They said without these things it would not be possible to play 162 game seasons year in and year out. If they are going to crack down on drugs (no pun intended), then they should crack down on ALL drugs. Instead of dropping the amount of games, they could up the active roster size to 30. Managers would definitely be more under the gun as far as days off go, that's for sure.
  17. QUOTE(gsoxs1 @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) At no point did they mention offense. I bet they were talking abut the team in general. The team is the best team in baseball at the moment. High Octane has been used a lot in stories of high scoring teams. It's rarely used about pitching or defense. The pitching isn't high octane, it's shut-down. There is nothing high octane about this team right now...to me, it seems he's talking about LAST years Sox. And as for the sarcasm, this is an article about fantasy pickups, not the side bars that have those hilarious sarcastic remarks. Here's a link to the article: Rotoworld article
  18. Not sure if this should be in this forum, it is about the White Sox, though. I was reading about fantasy closer pickups and came across this on El Duque... Seemed fine until I got to the last sentence. When did this guy write this, last year when they picked El Duque up? I sure wouldn't call this offense "high-octane." What happened to Rotoworld?

  20. If this country didn't make the body so taboo, we wouldn't be having this problem. In fact, she probably wouldn't even wear the button and if she did, no one would even notice. But instead, in this puritanical society, anything sexual is wrong and dirty. And that is just sad.
  21. That is amazing...I was just reminiscing with a guy at work about the early 80's game Dark Tower and was wanting to buy it off of ebay again. I wish I still had that game. As for regret, yes and no. I loved my toys, but I collected Pez dispensers for awhile and it just got dusty. I know there are people out there that will get a lot of enjoyment out of the toys and games. I DO regret throwing things out more than selling it.
  22. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) Well, weather or not he wants to be famous, there are few who know underground at all who don't know who Ian MaKaye is. The man defined an entire genre of the punk scene, created one of the most important labels in the Punk scene, and turned out Brian Baker. Ian, and Fugazi, are pretty damned well-known. They are by no means main-stream. Well-known to people who want to know them or by name only.
  23. Bands, unless they are Fugazi are trying to be famous, it seems to me. They all want stardom and then rip into it when they get there. Same goes for actors.
