  1. Why didn't Knightni start this thread? Sometimes, I think you're too quick on the thread draw ss2k!!
  2. Nu!! Nnnnnuu!! No, it's Ni! Happy Birthday!!!
  3. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) The point is there are plenty of areas for added 'night life'...no doubt. Personally I liked the rush of walking back to the green line or the IIT lots. You never knew when you would get picked off. Or a shot over the bow, if you know what I mean.
  4. If the Go Go chant doesn't start back up, maybe you can be the next Andy the Clown? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GO! WHITE!! SOX!!!
  5. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) Mens Volleyball>Womens Volleyball Nope. Mens Volleyball=Womens Volleyball.
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Eh'. Agree to diasgree on that one. McCarthy will be a part of the deal any way you cut it. Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to be wrong on that, but Beane will be the one dictating this transaction. I think Kenny has a little more wiggle room than we are giving him credit for. I hope they can get Chavez without B-Mac, too. I just think the Beaner has lost a lot of credibility this year. The only bargaining chip Beane has is that he doesn't HAVE to trade Chavez. From what it sounds like, Chavez wants out, Beane probably wants to dump the payroll (I don't know this, I'm just thinking small market team that's not performing) AND the whole Moneyball thing with how Beane seemed to be so superior. This isn't basketball, where you have to match salaries, if the Sox pick up ALL of the contract, Kenny has the upper hand. Again, I say, I hope.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) At this point, I'd endorse taking the salary on in full because that allows Konerko to walk next season with a clear conscience. Even if this trade is on the furthest of the back burners, it has made for some real interesting chatter. Joe Crede and Brandon McCarthy for Eric Chavez? Can you hear me now? Good. But what I'm saying is...if the Sox DO take on the entire salary, KW can say...we'll give you Crede and Tracey and another Shot-in-the-dark prospect instead of either B-Mac, Sweeney, Anderson, Gio, etc.
  8. He's a two (some will say three) time MVP. He's been on this team for 15 years. He was arguably the best hitter of the 90's. I think he has the right to say "I am ready." I know Ozzie doesn't want to hurt the team by not bringing somebody up sooner than they are ready, but only Frank knows if he's ready. What's the difference if he hurts his hip in AAA or with the Sox? Either way, he was going to have to turn on the "jets" and run. He's still swinging well and has 6 days to rest when we go to San Diego and Colorado. He'll be fine. He's definitely NOT Juan Gonzalez.
  9. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Chavez is a great player but I swear KW better not give up Bmac, even though he hasn't been all that with the sox I would bring him up before anyone if Duke were to go down again. Thats also not counting the possibility of Count going down or anyone else. We all know what the fifth starter fiasco has done, nothing but eliminatinig us from the playoffs, to take a risk of handing out our only backup would be silly. Not only is Bmac our backup incase someone goes down this season but he is out future, a future ace why give him up?? Say NO KW. A lot of it is going to depend on how much of Chavez's salary the Sox would be willing to pick up. If the A's pay more than half, it's going to take B-Mac and another A-list prospect. If the Sox are willing to pay a huge chunk, then KW would be able to say, we pay more, you get less. That is...if this trade happens at all.
  10. Squeegee...which would be my Flaming Lips-like band. Lunchbox...it's a vessel to carry your lunch...and an idiot. Pants...but only the way a true Chicagoan says it. Smock...just, well, because. And one of my personal favorites...slathered. S-L-A-T-H-E-R-E-D. Slathered.
  11. I'd give mine to the Human Fund.
  12. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Chicago is indeed a Cubs city. Wrigley is packed and the majority of baseball fans in Chicago are Cubs fans, but I just don't understand why that is. The Cubs are not a Chicago team. Rather, like the Yankees and Red Sox, they are a National team that plays to a National market. You almost never hear a Cubs player say they are playing for Chicago, but rather, for Cubs fans at best or at worst for themselves and their teammates only (one of the few exceptions I can think of is Karros). The mystique that surrounds the Cubs, "the loveable losers," is so anti-Chicago as well. Rather than a crew that uses mind-boggling excuses like "a curse" to explain decades of failure, the White Sox carry on their large shoulders the load of having thrown one of their most recent chances to win the World Series. This fix was based on players protesting management too cheap to pay them their dues, which has harbored a mistrust of upper-management that should seemingly fit the blue collar roots of Chicago. As Sox fans, we celebrate a team grounded in reality and disappointment, that seams to find ways to lose year after year, but we are realistic and understand our destiny, rather than to boundlessly embrace "next year" a notion which seems more in line with America in general and a National audience, rather than a Chicago audience. When I watch the White Sox, I enjoy a team for Chicago and not for America. It is a team that embodies me. This is Chicago's team and no one else's. If the ChiSox ever win it all, it will be a win for Chicago and not a spectacle for everyone as would be the case if the Cubs won. [humming "America the Beautiful"...no wait...I mean, "My Kind of Town"]
  13. Since the game is in Comerica National Park this year, they should pick "The Mayor" for the team. It's going to be a down year home run wise in the game itself.
  14. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) Yes, Hawk pretty much has the say in this situation. I just don't know what he thinks every player needs a nickname. It's part of his schtick...just like "You can put it on the board...YES!!!" and all of his other little sayings. He is the typical Georgia southerner with all the little pithy sayings. I think the nicknames bring the players closer to the fans, especially if they were given that nickname while with the Sox, plus it's easier to remember them when they are gone. For instance, if not for being nicknamed "The Deacon," I doubt we would remember Warren Newson as fondly. Or "The Little Hurt" Craig Grebeck.
  15. Is he your set-up guy for Hermanson? Or vice-versa? Would Everyday Eddie demand to be the closer when he got here? If that situation was sorted out before he got here, I would take him.
  16. Just finished reading Lies and the Lying Liars that Tell Them by Al Franken and Diary by Chuck Palahniuk. Both good, but Diary was not as good as I thought it would be. Taking suggestions for others to read...
  17. Thanks to your parents!!!

Comiskey -- Totally underrated Juice Box -- Fantastic with the roof open Busch -- A literal sea of red Ballpark at Arlington -- meh, too closed in Wrigley -- see other posts Also been to County Stadium. 19. Yeah!!! What they said!!! 2(Happy Birthday)
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 29, 2005 -> 05:19 AM) Would you deal Aaron Rowand for Vernon Wells? No, not because I think Aaron is better, but because I think Aaron better tipifies this team. Hard working, will do anything, throw his body around. Not that Vernon Wells doesn't do those things, I just wouldn't trade Rowand for Wells. Now, if it was Dye for Wells....
  21. Happy Birthday, Jim...and to Florida too!!!
  22. Again, a day late, and when you are delivering milk, that's not a good thing. Happy Birthday!!!
