  1. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) Link to a Popular Mechanics article analyzing a bunch of these...I don't know, I don't even think they qualify as "ideas". Basic conclusion, they're all crap, w/ much dishonesty used to spread the disinformation. But hey, what do specialists, scientists, and engineers really have on self fancying Clancy crazies, right? That was fascinating. But I could see how people could read into the debunking as government brainwashing. /Puts on tin foil fedora.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) Now what the hell are we going to talk about? Let me give you a topic... Crede sucks Timo sucks Jurassic's crazy Garland should be a 15 game winner every year The Count's forkball El Duque's age Konerko's GIDP JR's a bad owner/part of a bad ownership GROUP Kenny Williams sucks Kenny Williams doesn't suck Ozzie's mouth Mike Squires (had to throw that in) Podsednik in the all star game Har-old, Har-old, Har-old... Willie Harris' base stealing prowess Small/Smart Ball Discuss.
  3. Absolut Mandarin. and soda.
  4. There was a great Nova on this. They show it every once in awhile. Here is the link: Nova Link There's also a video explaning what they think happened. Click on the first link and scroll to the bottom.
  5. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Not too many, which is why I didn't finish the line to see how many other old farts chimed in. [/basking in my increasing irrelevance] I'm right there with you FSJim. With every new member on this board, I gain a wrinkle.
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) So you guys take a Page 6 quality rumor as fact? Man If it's in the press, it's going to be attached to Maggs, true or not. You should know that by now.
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Presenting... How many people on this board do you think remembers that sketch? And Yas...I don't mean to be nitpicky, nor do I want to get into an argument, but it's not pro-abortion...it's pro-choice. I have a couple of friends who don't agree with abortion and would never get an abortion (unless necessary), but are for the freedom of an individual to choose if she wants one or not. Sorry, it just kind of irks me when someone says pro-abortion and that's not what it is at all. Now, back to the thread......
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Well, I had this one in mexico that was really quite nice...... Did I just type that? Ummmmm... ew. :puke
  9. That "KER-CHUNK" you just heard is the Respect-o-Meter for Maggs. It just blew it's springs.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) that sounds like some kind of nasty groin disease. I prefer comiskey Are there any groin diseases that AREN'T nasty?
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 05:54 AM) I personally think the effect of Colorado took a toll on Freddy, Jose, and the Duke. Garland just didn't have much today even though that homerun to Clark was ridiculous. I've heard, a couple of times this year, that an opposing pitchers next start, after one in Colorado, is usually pretty poor. And it is also why Colorado pitchers find it hard to pitch for the Rockies. Even though they are used to it, it's still hard for any person to recover from the altitudes. Something about lack of oxygen and muscle recovery. We'll see after the next start. I'm glad we don't have to go back there.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) ^^^^^^ And they get zero attention in the media for it. That is the criminal part of it all. We can get treated to stories about Franks ego, Ozzie's mouth, attendance, and the ballmall everyday, but the media is eeriely quiet when these same professional athletes make a positive impact in peoples real lives. I make it a point to dig out these stories and post them every chance I get, so that everyone can see the good hearts in these people, and look past things like their batting averages and ERA's. These are honest to god, good people that play for the Sox, and the world deserves to know it. Is this Brooks' job? Should he be the one that calls ESPN and Fox and whoever else? Maybe we should start a letter writing campaign and attach local press stories. A couple of stories on "Outside the Lines" and Fox Saturday baseball would do wonders for this team and its image.
  13. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) And yet all of those things (shirts, plates, ties, etc.) still aren't a flag. If the flag is a symbol of freedom, wouldn't burning the flag be a symbol of destroying that very freedom? Good point, but, like you said, it's a symbol of freedom. The freedom to disagree with our government, the freedom to express opinions, even if someone disagrees with what you are saying. And that includes burning a flag if I want to (which I don't). EDIT: LCR said it much better than I did.
  14. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) I bet Bill Frist feels pretty f***ing stupid right about now. Unfortunately, I doubt it.
  15. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/voteonfla...DMzBHNlYwM3MDM- Sure, you can't burn it...but damn it, you can totally turn its form into t-shirts, dinner plates, ties, dressy shirts, pants, suspenders, boxers, thongs, bikinis, do-rags, hankerchiefs, etc. etc. What a f***ing crock. The flag isn't freedom. The flag is a symbol for freedom which includes the freedom to burn the f***ing flag. I got a suggestion for the people that don't want to burn a flag -- DON'T BURN ONE. Link doesn't work, but you are exactly right. God forbid we have the right to express...anything.
  16. Let them all talk about conspiracy theories. Some people say the Holocaust never happened. JFK still isn't really worked out. And some people are doubting Mark Felt was Deep Throat. Bottom line, three towers collapsed, thousands of people died, we are in the Middle East. Additionally, as I was reading about PNAC's thoughts, it reminded me of the Roman Empire. They didn't fall until they started overreaching. That's what being in the Middle East reminds me of. We are too far away from home. I'm glad you're home Nuke, now let's bring the rest home safe and sound.
  17. There's this fantastic thing called the internet. Just go to... Fry's/Outpost website
  18. From Alaska for a few million dollars to Manhattan island for some beads and a swift kick in the pants outta there....to goats and chickens for crack and sex...maybe they were wrong about evolution?
  19. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Can anyone here point me to the Chapter and Verse that states "Hate thy Neighbor"? Sure it's Chapter 6, Verse 66 of the Book of Moron.
  20. QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) I would rather not watch football than watch the Colts though. And Bobby Knight is an overrated piece of trash whose fan base in old imbread hicks from southern and central Indiana. Try quoting a real basketball coach like coach K or Dean Smith or even Lute Olsen I am really befounded how you could root for the Sox and not be a bears fan but I am happy that you at least have made one smart choice in whom you root for Go Sox Start Watching the Bear and stop watching the Colts and worshiping Bobby Knight There are plenty of Bears fans at IU find one At least you are not a Twins or Cubs fan Befounded?
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) "Chocolate Thunder" Darryl Dawkins Ooooo...I totally forgot about "Chocolate Thunder." That's gotta be the best, although I believe he coined that nickname himself, so points off.
  22. Unlike other posters...at least Juggernaut backs up his trades with stats and facts. He doesn't just say...here, let's trade player X for player Y. All of these trades make sense, but they aren't all gonna happen, maybe none of them will happen. But, Juggs, at least you have some thought behind it. I would much rather read this than the Crede and whoever for Chavez/Randa/Castilla/A-Rod/Cabrera/Nomar threads that are out there.
  23. Is there one player you released from the system that you wish you had back, who would it be? Matt, Austin, TX
