Weren't there two outs on that play, too? If there were, that's one of the first rules, you run until you hear your coach yell STOP!!! What an idiot!

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 23, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) The baskets are there so the drunken idiot Flubs fans don't grab every ball that flies near the wall and interfere with the game. I think they are there for the player's protection since there is no padding on the walls. Although, they do prevent idiot Flubs fans from interfering. Too bad they don't have them down the foul lines!!! Yeah, I'm talking about you Steve Bartman!!!

Frank is at the point of his career where he just wants to win a WS ring. And he probably thinks that this year might be his last good year to do it. Chemistry won't be a problem. Don't forget, there are a lot of Frank's former teammates coaching this team, they all know his antics and won't let him get away with them. Dye in right, Everett off the bench/trade bait (hopefully we can get something back for him, since we gave something up for him...TWICE), Frank DH. No ifs, ands, or buts.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 23, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Joe Crede? Seriously, how is Ensberg defensively? I know he's much better offensively than Crede. I wasn't suggesting Crede, I was just saying they could use an upgrade at 3B. Just an observation. and he's not THAT much better, depends what they are looking for. Remember, Ensberg didn't have a home run until late July/early August last year.

QUOTE(Wedge @ May 23, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) My mistake, you're right I did mean Bagwell... all those B's. I edited the original post to reflect that. The Astros already have replacements for Bagwell and Biggio. Chris Burke will be the starting 2b and Berkman will move in from the outfield to play 1b (he played first in college). They have a wealth of young outfielders in the minors...the Astros don't really need to trade, they need to sit some longtime 'Stros, which really sucks, because I like Bags and Biggio. Actually, they could use an upgrade over Ensberg at 3B.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 20, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) As long as Cora doesn't signal somebody to turn right, I'm ok with it. That's why they got lost, they only made lefts. ----------------- Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do. -
I just can't watch the muppets anymore. It makes me so sad not to hear Jim Henson's Kermit, Rolf, etc. Brian Henson does a great job, but it's just not the same. And yes, I did cry when Jim Henson died.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 20, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) A&M is one of the Top 5 AG programs in the US. College Station is pretty typical for a US, semi-rural college towns. Each one is different, but each one is the same. First lesson is you must dislike, perhaps even hate, the UT Longhorns. Get a sticker that Saws 'Em Off As far as the social life, you may dislike Texas women, especially if you dislike tall, sweet, beautiful, and sexy. You may hate UT, but you'll be runnin' to Austin for the nightlife quite a bit. It's only an hour or so drive, and it's an actual city. Just please, for the love of all that is holy, don't join The Core!!!

Think I could recall my senior year yearbook for having that ridiculous picture of me with zits, glasses and a stupid ass haircut? I don't want my peers to pick that up 15 years down the road (now) and see me like that. What a crock.

Give it up for Reggie Miller
CanOfCorn replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Spiff @ May 20, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) Well if Jack McCallum says it, it must be true. :rolly f*** this rose-colored-glasses-s*** all of a sudden. He's trying to romanticize Miller's chest-pounding and leg-kicking? f*** that. That's weak, kissing up to an old fart on his way out. Hindsight is 20/20. Reggie was and will always be a prissy little jump shooter who never won anything. The end. Well, that spleen unloading aside...Reggie was a fantastic jump shooter, definitely the best until Ray Allen came into the league. He was a victim of circumstance when it came to rings, he came close, but there was always a team better than his. Thanks for the many years of rivalry, for the choke signs, for the bows, for the arguments with Spike, for the Knicks-beating, and for that beautiful shot that floats from 27 feet out into the middle of the rim, touching nothing but the bottom of the net. Reggie, see you in the Hall in 5 years! -

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 19, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I think Grandstand has them online. That's the one, I was hoping for the white letters on dark blue, but beggars can't be choosers. Thanks Leonard! -

A little late, but Happy Birthday!!!

I can find 60's and 80's uniforms, but not the dark blue with the white Chicago lettering. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Maybe at Comiskey?

I was just thinking about this today. Giambi last year, Magglio, Bonds and Sammy this year. Somethings up...I know Maggs wasn't in Canseco's book or called to testify, but these mysterious illnesses (pre-hernia) made me wonder about steroids and the effect on the body when you are no longer on them. Hmmm...thanks FlaSoxxJim, now about that Whale fart....

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 19, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) No, first it floats for a while, then it sinks. Also, just be happy I didn't post the pix of the whale fart that I thought about putting up as a bonus. yes, I really do have one of those. You can't do that!!! You're teasing us!!! POST!!! IT!!! POST!!! IT!!! POST!!! IT!!! POST!!! IT!!! POST!!! IT!!! POST!!! IT!!! And I'd like to add Fred Manrique to the list, just because I like to say Fred Manrique.

My favorite, despite the screen name, is Mike Squires. He was the reason I watched the Sox. I always asked why lefties couldn't play third or catch, and Mike Squires was the first one in a long time who did both. And well, if I remember correctly. Also, Har-old, Black Jack, Greg Walker, Luzinski, Fisk and Thomas.

The team this year is built on pitching and defense. Now you want to trade away, what many consider to be the best pitching prospect of the spring, for an expensive struggling 3B? I'm all for trading prospects, but some have to be untouchable.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 19, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Yes I would, and I will tell you why. I would rather have Chavez than Crede, because of his lefty bat, and proven track record. Second I would give up BMAC because I think that our rotation is set again for next year. This means that BMAC would not be given a real chance until 2 years from now. I believe that within 2 years we will have another one of our A-AA guys ready to come up and break the rotation. I believe in Liotta, and Gio and I think they could be ready in two years. I think that this could be the year we need to plan for, and I would give up a little of the pitching strength we have in the minors because we have some to back it up. I know what you are saying, but B-Mac can come up and take a spot start or two RIGHT NOW. And with El Duque and Contreras, that's a good possibility. I don't know if Adkins or Honel or anyone down at AAA or AA is ready for that. That's why I don't trade B-Mac, he is our sixth starter.
