  1. Hey John franco, it's your turn!!!
  2. I doubt the Dbacks would want Timo unless Byrnes, Cameron, Wilson AND Payton are unavailable. Plus, there is NO WAY they would give up Cintron for him. Maybe we can get Casey Daigle from them...more of a reason to bring Jennie Finch to the ballpark.
  3. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Last night, I had a dream that we resigned Mags to a one year deal. Just interesting I thought. I had that dream too. Scott Boras was this green, slimy, burping, farting, blob...you saw Weird Science, right. And Maggs' knees could bend both ways, like a Gumby doll. I was wearing a suit made of money and trying to run, but they were catching up with me. I woke up in a pool of my own sweat. Scary.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) And he'll probably need to overpay in terms of talent, too. I'm thinking Anderson, Diaz (Perhaps B-Mac), and at least two of the upper tier prospects (though hopefully not Sweeney/Mac). I don't know about this...they got Carlos for less than his market value. If we come competitive, it might not matter too much. Of course, that's assuming Doug Melvin has integrity (and doesn't receive a better bid from some other team).
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Can arb go more than 1 season? If it was a one year deal, and another great season, somewhere around $16 to $18. I'm guessing Boras and a healthy Maggs could have pulled in a 6 year $90mil deal. I think it's only one season. I was just wondering what the sides would've offered and what he would've gotten. I imagine he would have gotten what he asked for. If healthy, of course.
  6. that's the best one by far!!!
  7. Note to self: Let no herpes-laden mohel near my schtickel.
  8. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) I was referring to his "quiet" comment about who he thinks really is number 1 right now. He said it was Carolina because of the frontline with Marvin/Jawad Williams and Sean May. Enough is enough out of him. This game needs no banter about UNC or the ACC for that matter, its a great matchup and a truly great team is dominating right now. Just no need for it. He's moved on from Duke because he realizes they don't have the depth this year, I almost wish he would go back. i thought it was good guard play that wins championships? isn't that what dickie v was saying last year? Yeah, that's what I thought Dickie. Ever since he had to stand on his head at halfcourt, he hasn't liked the Illini.
  9. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) haha seriously, Hatcher is one of the most feared players in the NHL He would prolly crush that guy with one check, Hatcher is 6-5 235 lbs I hope some of the UHL players do go after the NHLers. Not take out their knees or anything, but finish their checks and maybe get a boarding call. I'd be pissed too, if I was a UHL player. I wonder if they are using this as training camp...
  10. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) No its just further proving my point.. I opened it up to show what "experts" think of the top Prospects...and How we have none.. Did you happen to notice that at least half of those "prospects" will be on opening day rosters? Do you hate all baseball position players because a good one fails to get a hit 7 out of 10 times. That's 70% of the time. What an f'in failure!!!
  11. Let's wait and see what the Tigers really offered him before we say he won or lost. Cuz, if he gets close to the 5/$70 that the Sox offered, I guess he won anyway. As for winning or losing, I wonder what the arb number would've been?
  12. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Really.. funny I thought we had a budget.. I guess we became the yankees and don't have to worry about 4 million. :rolly we could pay $8 million a year for an overrated shortstop by the name of Orlando Cabrera instead and not be out of that contract after this year. C'mon. If not Kenny, who? Billy Beane? John Schuerholz? You think you are going to pry those guys away from their current jobs? For cryin' out loud, let it go. Let's just focus on 2005 and not 1995, alright?
  13. Please. We used Olivo to get Garcia. Reed hasn't done anything in the majors yet. colon is fat and gone. Jimenez was a cancer. Rauch walked out on his team. Koch was coming off an awesome year. Anthrax...we got it. You don't like Kenny. No problem. But, trades aren't always made for one player. Sometimes it's to get rid of a player *cough*Sosa*cough* sometimes for pieces to another trade. Sometimes for minor league depth. You aren't going to get an impact player EVERY TIME. I bet Kenny's success rate is just about average for general managers and this offseason might have bumped him up a couple notches.
  14. Stevie Wonder - "As" or Jeff Buckley - "Grace"/"The Last Goodbye"
  15. I'd have to say the number 7 at Chick-Fil-A...chicken sandwich (the pickle makes it), waffle fries, cole slaw, Diet whatever they have. AND...the Sourdough Jack at Jack-in-the-Box. Oh, mama...the cure for the common hangover.
  16. I can't wait to see you dancing sensually to Peaches and Herb. Oh, the humanity. Congrats wino and Fla.
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I don't think anyone is doubting his coaching abilities. But you still need some great talent to win big ten championships. I disagree...while they didn't win it outright all three years, Wisconsin didn't have the talent. They had Devin Harris and a bunch of other good role players. Bo Ryan is a great system coach. they buy into it and they win. Talent helps, but it's not the end-all, be-all.
  18. Real quick, back to Weber and recruiting. Remember, this is a guy who took SIU to 3 tournaments. And they weren't a 16 seed. Weber knows how to coach. He knows how to get kids to buy into his system. And his system works. If he can keep getting players in the 3 star range, this team will always be dangerous. I think Deron might come back next year. he's still in the low first round - high second round right now. Yes, Illinois loses Head (will be replaced by McBride), Powell (replaced by Warren Carter), Ingram and Smith (replaced by Marcus Arnold). Plus, we get Brian Randle back, Pruitt for a second year, Augustine, Calvin Brock and whatever freshmen play. i still think this team is 2nd or 3rd in the Big Ten next year just based on coaching.
  19. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) agreed. unless the get an offer they can't refuse, than they might, but highly doubtful. No, but I think they have some expiring contracts. A serviceable big in Harrington and/or Antonio Davis. And I think they still have their mid-level exception, don't they? it's not always about players...
  20. My Austin Wranglers got our a$$ handed to us by the Soul. They are pretty damn good. Watch out for Graziani to Smith.
  21. I know the deadline is a few weeks away, but if they come through February still in playoff position, or real close, should they make a trade for the playoff run?
  22. QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) where are you getting this? My bad: http://www.suntimes.com/output/bears/cst-spt-bear30.html
  23. I guess it's the best possible situation for Kurt. He knows the system. Hey, where have I heard that before? *cough*JonathanQuinn*cough*
