  1. Rotoworld saying Alonso AND Encarnacion for Rolen. Ouch.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) The Angels reportedly are in on him. I wanna be on you...
  3. QUOTE (TheHolyBovine @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) So, KW wasn't able to trade Fields for an OFer better than Wise? Pathetic. Takes two to tango.
  4. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) And therefore will not make the playoffs.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) This is one of those WTF moves. Yeah...why would the Braves want LaRoche back? Why would the Red Sox want Kotchman if they are getting/got VMart?
  6. QUOTE (TheHolyBovine @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) Any updates from AM 670? Any updates from the beat writers who cover the team? Seems like every other team has "insiders" who can state that their respective teams are/aren't likey to make deals. Yet, complete silence on the CWS... No.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) Sox will do nothing and KW will give Sox fans the old we tried like hell routine. Let's see what Kenny and the Sox have done so far. Castro > Corky Miller Pena Kotsay >= Brian Anderson (Kotsay's bat is better and can play more positions AND we got cash!, Anderson's speed and defense is better) Peavy - Incomplete. I say at THE WORST, it's a wash for 2009.
  8. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) I think with this economic climate, teams are just putting too much stock into their prospects, and deals can't get done. Not too mention that if players aren't taking PEDs as much, then those careers aren't going to last as long at such a high level. So teams need to be prepared.
  9. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Very good points and whose to say the reliever we get wont slump? By all accounts we'd be going for 'just another reliever' like Pena, which isn't really anything more than a sideways move that will cost us. Really...? Weird. Echooo....ooo...ooo...
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) So in other words our final offers are out there, and we are waiting to see if teams will come down to our offers. Gosh, that sounds like good business to me...instead of offering up the farm or change for change sake...weird. /rolly eyes
  11. I believe it was ss2k5 who said it, but: Kenny made his deal. He acquired Peavy. Peavy Jayson Nix'd it. Unless they deal Fields, I believe the Sox are done.
  12. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:16 AM) Ahh I get it, or maybe he becomes a monk and goes off to mission in the dessert and quits baseball. Given the choice between Washburn and Galaraga/Porcello in the three spot in that rotation a guy who is pitching the way he's been pitching this year is a vast upgrade. We have to believe he'll pitch pretty much like he's been pitching this year...that's the safest prognostication. Sure, your hypotheticals could play out, but I'd wager on different results. Nice. Thanks for the friendly discussion.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) The lists were seized under a legal search warrant associated with the BALCO case. The Feds had every right to take it. Just like everyone on it has the right to sue the feds if their name is on the list and it leaks that their name is on the list. The problem? You don't have a case unless your name is actually on that list. Thus...filing the lawsuit is tantamount to an admission of steroid abuse. The problem here is not that the list is being leaked slowly, or embarrassing people...the problem is...baseball had a huge steroid problem for years and 103 or so of its players were stupid enough to be caught when they had a 6 month warning that testing was coming. Still...the union represents ALL players. It wouldn't be the players filing a case, it would be the union. I'm not saying the Feds did/didn't, I'm saying the union could have fought harder. And that's not the problem anymore...the problem is how to admit it and move forward towards a cleaner MLB.
  14. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) Dear Kenny, Please buy or sell. Standing pat would be a mistake. I understand selling for the sake of selling is generally a bad idea, unless there is value coming in return; but I honestly do not care if the young players coming back ever crack the bigs. This team is very flawed defensively; and the only fix is either more cowbell or by creating a few holes that can eventually be filled with someone that can catch the ball. Love, Greedy You ARE Greedy.
  15. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Why won't it help their rotation? Washburn has been brilliant this year (WHIP of 1.07, 2 something era) in large part due to adding a sinker to his game. Because maybe he gets hurt? Maybe he doesn't click with Detroit's pitching coach? Maybe he doesn't like pitching in Comerica? Maybe he didn't want to get traded? Maybe he goes into a funk? Or maybe, it's biz as usual and he continues to pitch lights out. Like I said, it SHOULD help their rotation, if he continues to pitch the way he has recently...but as we've seen with many pitchers, that doesn't mean it will.
  16. So the Bears cut Joey Larocque and another guy on the FIRST DAY OF CAMP! I can see the sign outside Olivet Nazarene now: Welcome 2009 Chicago Bears (except you Joey Larocque)
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) You can't deny that this will help their rotation. It should...but that doesn't mean it WILL.
  18. Let's see what he does before we make a judgment. And their offense still kinda sux.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) Hurricanes should not get male names. Really, is there anything more scary than a bloated angry female? Ummm...why is that in green?
  20. Ummm...didn't the league sign off on this deal before it was signed by the 'hawks and Hossa? If so, how could they blame the 'hawks?
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:57 PM) But those are years off the end of your life and those years suck anyway. Denis Leary says hi!
