QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Definitely not, there are millions and millions of stoners calling for that. It's as popular as it's ever been. Not just stoners.

I want to know how Middle Buffalo came up with that name. I like it...and I don't know why.

Danks to Miss Start, Torres to start in place
CanOfCorn replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) Prediction: Torres stays up the rest of the year, and starts at least 10 games. Prediction: I never see you...or Farfel ever again. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) Because the Prius is so 2007. I really do not see the appeal of the Smart car. It's not very practical, its not particularly efficient, and it isn't exactly cheap, either. The main reason to have a Smart car is the same reason as Europe...it's small. And if you live in the city, you don't necessarily need space or efficiency...you need to not drive around for two hours looking for a parking spot. Oh...and NSS ->

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) What part of "Rick Astley" and the picture of Astley there did you miss? I meant...for posting that. I've seen it before...I didn't want to see it agin. Even a pic of Astley.

Baltimore and Atlanta scouting the ChiSox last night?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Not really, Steve Alford certainly qualifies. Unfortunately, Lickliter might be even worse bringing in talent and/or running off athletic players who might actually be able to competently play in the Big10. Aaaaaaaand...thread destroyed. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) I hate you.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) CR --- 3.2 IP 6ER 7R 2K 4BB 8H Hate to be pessimistic, but if CLE and KC can slap him around, TB will destroy him. I hope I'm wrong. Mods...ban mmmmmbeer for the rest of the day.... -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) People who really, legitimately don't like Ozzie as a manager most likely just don't fully grasp how stupid most major league managers are. It shocks me on a daily basis seeing how many stupid decisions managers make, and although Ozzie has his fare share of mistakes, overall over the course of your typical 162 game season he's as good as his job as just about anybody in the league. That's the key. All managers make mistakes...but they are hindsight mistakes. Rarely is there a situation where you know the outcome before it plays out. Ozzie, for the most part, makes good decisions based on solid baseball knowledge.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) The Sox are 4 games over .500, but have no run differential. They have scored 429 and given up 429. Last I saw that stat, I thought they were close to -30. They've made up a LOT of ground there.

Hope the baby doesn't come out as fast as a Thornton heater. Congrats to the Thornton family!

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) awww that's disappointing! So a "spec commercial" is basically a demo real? Spec spots are sometimes done by an agency as a way to show an idea to a client or for a young ad team to get some needed experience. Sometimes they'll try to sell it to a client. Sometimes they are done by directors if they have some time and a good idea or if the director is trying to break into the biz, he/she will do one or two and post them or try to sell them to the client.

I dont really "hate" any teams...but there are teams that piss me off more than others...usually they have players that destroy the Sox. For instance, any team Jason Bartlett is on. That guy just destroys the Sox. My butt cheeks were clenched so tight last night in the 9th because Bartlett usually finds a way to beat the Sox, but luckily, Jenksy threw him a nasty out pitch.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 09:55 AM) Freeze frame showed that Wuertz might of had the tag down. You can debate whether or not he actually tagged him there, but the ball clearly beat him. Regardless if he was safe or not, you don't give up a 10 run lead to the Oakland A's. Their offense BLOWS. Another great thing that came out of this one was that Matt Holliday got me 22 fantasy points. Different camera angle shows he missed him. From 1st base dugout camera...check it out on ESPN.com. Still...too bad, you are going to get bad calls. Here's an idea: don't blow a 10-run lead. The only thing I have to say to this is: HA!
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) When pitchers aren't scared of a hitter beating them, they go right after him and don't bother trying to make the perfect pitch. True...and it's the same scenario every time: Pitch 1: Called strike. Pitch 2: Foul Pitch 3: K

What I have noticed about Wise, though, is his insane ability to be 0-2 in every at-bat. How does he do that?
-
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) I believe this is what will happen, rendering the BA/Wise argument moot. Can Geoff Blum play the OF? /green

Rays @ White Sox 7:11pm CSN+ - The Passion of The Carlos
CanOfCorn replied to WSoxMatt's topic in 2009 Season in Review
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) I'm only talking about tonight though. If you're not going to play Thome, there's no reason to have Carlos running around out there in his first game back. The thing is...it's not his first game back. He's been playing the field in the minors. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) IM HAVING VISIONS OF JESUS COMING BACK TO LIFE BUT INSTEAD OF BEING ALL MERCIFUL HE IS RAMBOESQUE AND KILLS THE ROMANS OLD TESTAMENT STYLE. THATS WHAT I THINK WHEN I THINK CQ'S RETURN. (Caps for emphasis) Really...? Never woulda guessed. -
And on a brighter note... TCQ IS BACK!!!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) I look forward to reading this thread after 2 hours. It will probably have 45 pages of Wise bashing with 3 or 4 comments mentioning the return of Quentin. On a brighter note... TCQ IS BACK!!!

QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) Thats kind of what I've been thinking. I think he is our most expandable and biggest trade chip with Beckham. I dont think we can afford him much longer. I don't trust his arm. And I dont think it's any secret that he could bring in a lot of talent in prospects or be apart of this kind of deal. Edit: I shouldnt say Jenks is most expandable. I think he'll be missed and im nerous about who would fill in but I think we have guys that are very capable to do so rendering him expandable. Dude...who do you think he is...Bartolo Colon...? Oooohhhh...you meant EXPENDABLE!

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) I think the Sox would love to trade Anderson, but he's a throw-in at best now. If Cook hits anything in AAA for the next month or so (he just got there), he has to be in the discussion as well, if Wise continues to be Wise. And when that happens...you are gonna lose yer s***!

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Maybe we'll acquire a real backup OF. I got it! Kenny will acquire a top-line pitcher. Ozzie will channel Lou Pinella and stick that pitcher in the OF as a defense replacement, only to have him face any batter he wants.
