(Insert Celeb Here) is Dead
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Hah! No, she was a sitcom pioneer who started out on My Little Margie back in the 50s if I remember yesterday's story correctly. I figured you, of all people, would know her. Not because of your geek card, but because you are old enough to remember watching My Little Margie!

Michael Jackson still dead.
Not to support the guy, but I have a couple of comments. First, he was accused, not convicted, correct? If so, first of all, he is innocent until proven guilty. Second of all, while I agree a 45 year old man has absolutely no business having a sleep over with a child, BUT, what if it was just a sleep over and the families of these kids saw an opening to fleece him for all he's worth. He may have been a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic, which led him to do stupid things, but that doesn't necessarily mean he diddled anyone. My point is...I don't know, I wasn't there, I'm not going to judge him. He was a tortured soul who was denied childhood and spent the rest of his life trying to regain it. And that's just sad. That being said...I'm done with the news coverage. And for those of you that thought Farrah Fawcett didn't get enough coverage, they did re-run her documentary oon NBC over the weekend. And if you haven't watched it, it's absolutely heartbreaking.

Going to my 1st road game
QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 01:31 AM) The Metrodome is by far the worst place to watch a baseball game be played, not to mention we tend to not do so hot up there either. It will be good next year when the Twins will actually play in a stadium designed for baseball and I look forward to going to game up there again. I've also been to Detroit and Milwaukee (County Stadium and Miller Park) to see the Sox play and it is always awesome to go into an opponents park and hopefully get a win and in most cases enjoy some verbal jabbing with the locals. When we went to Detroit it was the same week that Ben Wallace signed with the Bulls and my buddy and I were giving it to the Detroit fans about how this was gonna put us over the top. Boy did that backfire. The Ballpark at Arlington is the absolute worst. They try to be all things...new, old, cool. And succeed at none of those. Yuck.

Gov. Sanford
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) Savage's points aren't that crazy. First off, how did the newspaper get all the emails in the first place? Also, if you are a conspiracy theorist, Sanford takes a ton attention away from the cap and trade bill. Also, it seems Savage and Rush are pissed about all the media attention for Sanford and Ensign and the lack of it for Edwards. I don't know about that. I think Edwards was raked pretty well over the coals. Not to mention, Elizabeth Edwards was all over the talk shows for a week or two with her new book and they did ask about it. Ensign hasn't been a huge deal. Sanford SHOULD be a huge deal. And not only that, what about Blago. Last I checked...Democrat...and he was all over the news for a LOOOOOONG time. So, really, lib media crapola just needs to go away.

Michael Jackson still dead.
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) I found it sad that the Fawcett death hardly got any attention compared to Jackson's death (at least where I'm from anyways). What's going to happen to the 3 kids now as well? Reposted Facebook Status: What are the chances Angelina Jolie buys MJ's kids?

Frank Thomas "95% certain" he's retiring...
When he decides to hang it up...start the Hall of Fame clock. If the BBWAA want to REALLY make a steroid statement, Big Frank should be an overwhelming first ballot HOFer. I'm talking near 90% of the votes.

What are you favorite Chicago Sport Bars/Restaurants
QUOTE (Drew @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) I haven't lived in Chicago going on 5 years, although I do make it back to visit for Christmas and sometimes for a Sox homestand. My favorite places I used to visit all the time, unsure of which are still around. Breakfast: The Bongo Room, Honore/Milwaukee. Yes, this is the High Fidelity corner and my favorite brunch spot in town. Clarke's, Lincoln/Halsted or Clark/Belmont. Open around the clock, good diner food—particularly pancakes. Ann Sather, Belmont west of Clark (iirc). Also another outpost in Andersonville. Chicago institution, famous for their Cinnamon rolls. Lunch: Manny's Deli. Best Jewish deli in town. Star of Siam, State/Illinois. Food on par with Thai Star a few blocks away but a better venue. Mr. Beef, Erie/Orleans. Divey place full of celebrity heads on the walls. Jay Leno's favorite place for Beef. If you've got kids, Ed Debevic's on Wells/Ontario or Portillo's is a good bet. Dinner: Pizzeria Uno or Due, Ohio/Wabash. Same menu, ingredients, ownership—go where there's the shortest wait unless you're a purist and want to see the birthplace of the Chicago pizza. In which case, wait for Uno. Kamehachi on Schiller/Wells. Stellar sushi, always a good bet. Pontiac Cafe on Damen/Milwaukee. Piece on North/Milwaukee. Good pizza and brews. Duke of Perth, Clark north of Diversey. Fish and chips, great English/Scottish beer selection and Scotch list the best in the city. Wednesday and Friday nights are all you can eat fish and chips, or at least used to be. Adobo Grill, Honore/Milwaukee. Very tasty upscale Mexican food and unbeatable Tequila list. Late night: Rainbo Room, Damen south of Division (iirc). Divey with High Life bottles and full of hipster girls. Yes, I think this is a selling point. Delilah's, Lincoln near Diversey (iirc). Dive often with good live music. Wieners Circle, Clark/Wrightwood. I used to live a couple of blocks from this place, and now that the original Gold Coast Dogs is gone, this is the pre-emptive Chicago 'Dog. It's been featured on Insomniac a couple of times. Not for the faint of heart. Zaiqa, Orleans/Chestnut. Pakistani cafeteria, best value in town. The cabbie hangout on the north side. This is an...adventure. Except for Zaiqa and Piece, I think we share a brain. Also, I heard Pontiac is closing/closed. Ugh, one of my favorite places in town.

Michael Jackson still dead.
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) I had a personal boycott on buying his music because I wouldn't help fund his pedophile actions. Now I am free. See, it's good to be old...I bought mine before all that happened.
