If next year's team can stay as healthy as this year's, then there's definitely a chance. I wouldn't bet on it because this year has been truly special, but we have most of our pieces coming back. Even if we lose Konerko, we'll probably bring back Evertt and Thomas and maybe Anderson will be able to step up for us to replace some of that production. I think most here correctly believe that McCarthy will be an upgrade over El Duque (if purely for health reasons). Most of the pen is back or will be resigned. Yeah, next year's team should be pretty damn good, but having a healthy team is the most important thing to having serious play-off chances.

Blum's hair was awesome yesterday when it was all really spikey.

The new girlfriend never cared about baseball at all, but I got her hooked during the September Slump. She's been going even more nuts than me during the play-offs! It's "her" team now! It sure beats the ex's who are Astros, Twins, and Indians fans...

He was hitting that low and inside pitch for the strike-out, which is key for him. Even when he walks guys, if he hits that he'll do well. I'm still shakey on him.

My feeling was that if Hermanson couldn't pitch, we'd be better off with McCarty on the roster. I liked seeing Hermanson get in there, but after seeing the results, I stick with my original opinion... we should have McCarthy on the roster and not Hermanson.

what about Randy Johnson? Didn't Beckett do it, too?

OK, true story. After my last post, I kicked up my 4 song White Sox mix, Thunderstruck, Don't Stop Believin', Separate Ways, and Na Na Na Na. After Thunderstruck ended, Blum comes up and hits the homerun during Don't Stop Believin'. While Na Na Na Na is playing, Astacio comes out of the game. I can't make this s*** up, I swear.

Can Selig call this a tie?

If Hermanson can't pitch, then McCarthy should have been on the roster instead. I'm glad that thus far it hasn't been an issue, but time will tell.
