QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) I disagree. Getting Jenks back at the right price isn't a bad thing. There are far worse things the Sox could do. Jenks has become very unreliable on the mound and with injuries. Also, don't discount the "off the field" difficulties the Sox had to deal with regarding Jenks last year that KW mentioned a month ago. I'd be shocked to see him back.

Lot of money to match for someone with some health issues the last few years. I think we can be creative and find someone on par with Putz for cheaper.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) Looks like we're going to get Jenks back. I don't see that happening at all.

Tillman was too busy trying to take a cheap shot at an OL instead of staying in his lane on the Best run.

Heard on radio that Rangers are making a serious run at Konerko.

Great comeback by Rose to hopefully get this team going in the right direction again!

Bulls letting this game get away from them. Not time to panic yet, but this has been a very alarming week for them.

That 53 yard field goal by Nebraska was as pretty of a kick as you can imagine. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) Sale > Kelly I could even make a case that VIciedo has much better overall tools than Rizzo. This was not a good deal on paper as it stands right now for the Padres, imo. They got guys that will not be in the majors this year, two of which are incredibly raw and could very easily fail. Not sure who the 4th player is. But the Sox could have put this type of package together, imo. It doesn't mean I would have done it though, since we have less depth and that type of trade would have seriously impacted our current club and long-term future and I'm glad with dunn. As you know, Sale couldn't even be traded for a long time. Also, Padres already passed on Sale once, so who knows if they even like him.
-
Pretty sure Dunn had the longest average home run for quite a few years now.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) Wow. Jed Hoyer giving Boston a discount much? I gotta believe if we had wanted AGon, we could have matched that, even with our awful system. With our terrible farm system? Not a prayer. We have no one that compares to Kelly or Rizzo.

Harrison Barnes and T. Jones is a battle to see who can miss shots worse in this game. Irving is far and away the best freshman in this class. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) The way the computer is set up at my dads, I can't see the TV but I just turned it on so I can listen to Gus in the background, awesome. Just going to post that Gus lost it on Barnes' tip-dunk. I love Gus Johnson!! -
I'd love Diaz as part of a platoon in RF if we trade Quentin.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) I really haven't heard anything about teams being interested in Werth, have you guys? Just the usual: Angels, Red Sox, Tigers

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Oh come on fathom, if you put Dunn and Konerko together in the lineup, the DP is something you're going to have to deal with. The only difference between Quentin and Ramirez is which one of them would hit the ball on the ground more; the added speed might save you 1 DP a year. When you look at the GO/AO numbers, Alexei hits far more groundouts than Quentin (probably because he never strikes out). Alexei's GO/AO last year was 1.24, for Quentin it was 0.78, and Quentin consistently hits fewer GB's than Alexei. Even with Quentin's slowness, that's probably several fewer DP's with Quentin hitting behind them. I was saying Ramirez over Rios. No way Ozzie bats Rios below Quentin in the order. As a matter of fact, I'll be shocked if Rios isn't batting 3rd again next season with Beckham batting 8th. -

Something to keep in mind is who hits behind Dunn and Konerko. I worry about it being Quentin or Rios due to the double play issue. I actually wouldn't mind it being Ramirez, with Rios batting 6th and Quentin 7th. -
Sox engaged in "advanced trade discussions"
fathom replied to Leonard Washington's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) He's 4 years younger than Ramirez. I'd consider Quentin, Ramirez, and Viciedo for Rasmus. Consider ... Oh come on, Rasmus is so overrated. Good player with a lot of potential, but still a huge hole in his swing. -
QUOTE (Real @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) I believe we could've had him last year for Beckham, plus others. Just what I believe I'll take the Konerko/Dunn combo while keeping Beckham and have absolutely no regrets.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Albert Pujols' ball in the 2005 NLCS is still the hardest hit ball in the history of life. Just saying. Bonds vs KRod in the World Series

Greg, the biggest reason that Thornton and Putz ran out of gas and had to be overused was due to Jenks' ineffectiveness and inability to stay healthy during the 2nd half of the season. And btw, Fred Lewis' homer off of Jenks was hit just as hard as Roberts.
-
Why are people upset about this? Did you actually think that after acquiring Dunn, the Sox had a chance to get Gonzalez? Simply put, we were never going to be able to afford the huge extension he wanted, and had no prayer to compete with other team's prospects.

QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 4, 2010 -> 03:30 AM) Am I the only one who likes the Linebrink trade better than the Dunn deal I liked the Linebrink deal a lot more when it was $1.5 we gave up and not $3.5 million.

Van Gundy ripping on the Bulls shooting guard scenario. It really reminds me of the rotating DH debacle.
