  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) I love when people quote career numbers when there's clearly a trend of improving performance as a guy's career has gone on. It works about as well as Bill Gates and I sitting in a room and me declaring "on average, everyone in here is a multi-billionaire!" 69-67-74-72...seems like someone you would project to be around the percentage he's shooting right now. If you're going to suggest he's going to shoot in the high 70s, then we'll have ourselves a superstar.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) So who is on the floor instead of Watson at that point? I didn't see him on the court against Houston in that situation. It should be Rose, Watson, Korver, Deng, and Noah, with Noah as the last option to get the ball in.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Watching us on offense, one thing I'm not concerned about is our coaching. Thibbs is legit. Yep, definitely better than last season. It will be very interesting to see how they incorporate Boozer into the offense. I really hope he doesn't become the focal point.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Noah is actually shooting better from the line than Deng is this year. Using career numbers also ignores the improvement that Joakim has made from the line. Korver I can understand mentioning, but CJ Watson? Are you telling me that in crunch time you would want to see CJ Watson on the floor? As opposed to who? It's not crunch time, it's when you're up 2 with 10 seconds left and you need to ice the game. So yes, you put your best FT shooter on the floor (especially when you know the opposition will call a timeout after the FT to allow you to put defensive players in the game). And come on, Noah is .7 percentage points better than Deng so far, and Deng historically is above 75% while Noah is around 71%.
  5. I predict Illinois blows out Texas tonight. Texas is very young and has lapses of not trying on defense. Texas only chance is for Jordan Hamilton to catch fire.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) I don't think so. Noah is one of the Bulls better free throw shooters. He shoots in the low to mid 70's and he's a big target so you can get him the ball easier on certain in-bounds plays. Plus, we can't pretend that Rose or Deng are tremendous free throw shooters so unless we are talking about Korver the Bulls currently don't have a whole lot of other options to inbound the ball too that shoot better at the line than Noah. Korver, Watson, Rose, Deng (small sample size this year) are all better FT shooter than Noah. Noah is a career 70.7 percent FT shooter. Noah's probably my favorite player on the Bulls, and loved the pick when he was drafted, but he should be the last resort in that situation and just made the observation that it seems like we're not efficient enough with our inbounds plays (a common theme in some of the Bulls games this year).
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) He shot 74% last year and is shooting 72% so far this year. For a big man, that's reasonably solid. Yet still not who should be shooting your team's FTs at the end of the game IF you can avoid it. On the other hand, Brewer looks much better now than he did a few weeks ago.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 06:04 AM) is that really surprising? Nope, but I'm sure it won't stop the ridiculous trade proposals we'll see on here.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 05:02 AM) Noah has been just fine at the ft line the last few years. Obviously he shouldn't be the first choice to get the ball in those situations but it's certainly not the end of the world if you do. He's obviously not Shaq level bad, but seems like Bulls are just making it too easy for the opposition to keep the ball away from Rose, Korver, etc.
  10. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 02:42 AM) A lot of posts in this thread bashing Granderson. Simply put: hes comparable to Rios, yet cheaper. Granderson has had 5 straight years of 3+ RAW and is one of the better fielding CFs in the league. (better than Rios) Yes hes a K machine, but calling him a platoon player is just silly. Having one of the best overall outfields in the MLB is tempting, but I'd rather just re-sign Jones for RF... Granderson has a .621 OPS against LHP in his career. That's platoon-level bad.
  11. I've seen Noah turn the ball over probably 10 times in the last two weeks when he tries to bring the ball up the court. Rose needs to go get that ball from him right away. Also, I know he made the FT last night, but the Bulls are going to lose a game or two this year cause they put the ball in Noah's hands at the end of the game when the other team is trying to foul.
  12. Heyman reporting that the asking price for Upton has been described as "ridiculous".
  13. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 05:37 AM) Yes on Ian Stewart. The guy has stud potential at the Cell. Plug him in at 1B. He still has a long way to go to reach that potential, and if he couldn't do it in Colorado, I'm not sure he'd do it anywhere else. I don't think we're a better team if we trade Gavin for Stewart and put him at 1B.
  14. Well, that was a terrible 3rd quarter for the Bulls.
  15. I have a feeling Drake is going to beat Iowa State tonight...NOT! Not only is Hoiberg going to be a great coach, but Lutz was the perfect hire as his assistant.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) He has a .687 OPS against him with the bases empty, .763 with runners on base last year. I don't think he was nearly as bad as I thought he'd be when I read your post. Isn't that a pretty substantial difference?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 02:15 AM) His curveball in the thin air? He'd be a two pitch pitcher, the second being his change. Not only that, but with the likelihood he'd give up more runners on base due to the large outfields, he'd really struggle since he's so mediocre from the stretch.
  18. Just like with AGon, it's hard to imagine a situation where the Sox can put together the best possible package. With Sale being ineligible to be traded, there's not much with regards to cheap pitching they'd want.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) I don't want Ibanez, but at least he put up a 1.8 WAR, while Quentin sits there with a 0.0 WAR. He sucks on defense, and he's hitting in an amazing lineup in a great hitter's park. I want absolutely nothing to do with Ibanez.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Jason Churchill now going in on this rumor too. Wonders is the Phillies would try and get rid of Ibanez. Maybe Ibanez + Cash for Quentin and someone else. Oh hell no! Getting way older while giving up someone who actually has some trade value?
  21. Looks like Sox asked for Logan Morrison for Ozzie
  22. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Yes please... I don't even care what they get back for him... What? Quentin might have a lot of faults, but at least he has power. It's not like we have depth in the minors to replace his bat right now. We can't continue to lose our resources and get no major league pieces in return (ie: Swisher and Javy)
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) He's one of those AAAA players. The Angels are responsible for both him and Brandon Wood. How unfortunate. A lot of it has to do with the launching pads their minor league teams play in.
